Back in India, Decathlon was a common, and among the very few stores to get decent quality sporting gear. Both, for buying and servicing. When I moved to Uppsala, Decathlon came across as an easy choice to buy biking spares at. But others encouraged me to try different places. For e.g Rosendal Cycles, as a cheaper alternative. After a few miserable experiences, I can safely say that Decathlon Uppsala is a decent, reliable, and reasonable place for both buying and servicing. What I really like about the store is that people working here are kind, responsible, and professional. If they are unable to do something, say a repair, they would respectfully tell you that, not screw you with incompetence. I found the workshop and the people who work there, very accessible, helpful, and easy to communicate with. That is the mark of an organisation that treats its employees well. And the employees, in turn treat their customers well. I am quite glad that Decathlon continues to be an easy and accessible home for everything sport, both in India and Sweden. That’s a level of comfort and familiarity, I am growing fond of. At an organisational level, it’s hard to get this many things right.
