What a beautiful beautiful place! Istanbul is stunning and this is place is a gem! The historical value this place holds is absolutely breathtaking! The Islamic history, the story of the Emperor who lived here... it's like every step was a walk in there steps. What a surreal experience. The views from here also stunning! Must visit

I recommend buying tickets in advance because my family made the mistake of waiting at a ticket pass seller just for them to tell us that the tickets to enter the museum were inside, aside from that the museum was really pretty and the gardens looked amazing during this season (summer). There were some places where the lines were so long I couldn't enter but that's because I went on a weekend. Overall it was very pleasant experience.

A very well preserved and managed museum. The place is rich with history. The segments are well defined and full of historic artifacts depicting the golden age of ottoman empire and Muslim history. We found the staff to be very helpful. Also their museum shops offer really good options to bring home memorabilia.

Here are Topkapi Palace and its details: Topkapi Palace is the new palace of the Ottoman Empire. Because the first palace was built in the place where Istanbul University was located after the conquest. Topkapi Palace, which was built in Sarayburnu during the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror after the conquest, was used as the center of administration and administration of the Ottoman Empire for 400 years, for four centuries, by 25 sultans together with Mehmet II. Nearly 4,000 people lived in that period.

How's the quality of the museum? Impressive selection of artifacts. How's the customer service? Very knowledgeable tour guides. How's the place look from the inside and outside? Well cared for. Impressive. How was your overall experience? Wonderful! Were expectations met? Above and beyond.. Will you come back again? Yes. I sure hope so. Any advice for future visitors? Take your time. Don't rush.

It's beautiful and a must visit. You need to buy tickets to get into it. It could take 4-6h easily to check out everything. Bring food as it's going to take a lot of time to see all the things and there are no good food options inside. You need to buy another ticket if you want to check the harem that according to our guide could take another 2-3h to visit.

If you come to Istanbul make sure you to visit Topkapi Palace. You will see many artifacts in great condition from the Sultans during the Ottoman Empire periods. You can plan to spend about 3 hours inside taking your time to walk around. I was surprised to see how preserved the clothing of the Sultans was. Such grand and wealth! Wow

Also a must visit. We arranged a skip the line and 1 hour tour with guide. I was very glad I did because I would have missed too much. The palace is huge. Most is included just not the Hareem part for which you have to pay extra. Visiting it thoroughly would easily take half a day. I was very very impressed and it was all well maintained and incredibly interesting. Highly recommended.

Best place to visit in Istanbul. You will feel like travelling in time or right in the middle of game of thrones. We did the visit with a guide called Kadir for 25€ and it has changed completed the visit as he told us all the stories of the sultans that lived in the palace and behind every rocks of the place. It will allow you also fast track to buying the tickets as the guide can skip the line. You will also learn stories from hagia Sofia and about religions and Ottoman Empire. At the end of the palace there is a cafe and you can take beautiful pictures of the bosphorus and istanbul

I visited yesterday (Saturday) waited around 15 minutes to get past security at the main gates and then an hour and a half to get into the museum that holds the holy relics of the prophet mohammed (saw) other prophets and the companions which was the main reason we went, unfortunately there isn’t an option for a fast track for the holy relics so you have to just suffer in the queue as its very popular. Once we were in it was an amazing experience seeing the possessions of the prophets and companions. No photos are allowed and its very quick as security will ask people to move along. The grounds of the palace are nice and some great views. Would say it takes around half a day, be cautious of the people outside the main gate trying to sell you fast track tickets as the fast track will only get you past the main security gates (haven’t tried fast track myself) just seems like a scam as the fast tracks dont work in the holy relics or other small museums within the grounds.

The palace is majestically placed on one of the highest points in Istanbul and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Make sure you have enough time and energy to explore the grounds fully. Essential to have a guide to explain the various areas or rooms. Many of the walls or gates are adorned with Arabic Calligraphy. The design, architecture and layout combine the various cultures that have occupied the country.

Beautiful place to visit and to learn about the history of the sultans living here. This trip can take up to 3 hours. Be aware that for visiting the ancient brothel you will have to pay extra. If you are into history and culture. Its a must see! Please not that on hot days you best bring a bottle of water with you.

It is definitely worth a visit. Prepare to spend around 3 hours+ here. An audio guide (available in many different languages) is included in the entry ticket. The audio guide was quite informative and easy to use. However, for each device they asked for passport or 100€ as deposit, which I think it is a little unreasonable... We didn't feel comfortable to leave our passports there and lucky that we just happened to have enough cash for the deposit

Amazing place, atmosphere, good condition of the palace, park, museums. Huge respect to authorities, who saved historical value of Istanbul in general and in this palace. This place is impressive, many relics and valuables have been preserved. However it is a pity that we cannot see rooms, furniture, the personal belongings of the sultanas were not preserved, and in general they lived very close, as lots of people come to see life of Osman family

Pretty expensive, but also super expansive. There is a ton of things to see here, the audioguide helps to get deeper insights, but I had to change the device once and walk back to the entrance to do this. Remarkable objects and relics and you could easily spend numerous hours in this palace area. I would suggest to have minimum of 3 hours for an visit. Bring drinks and snacks, as there are not many services inside the premises.

One of the biggest spot in Istanbul! I recommend at least half a day for visiting. And it's better you get the museum pass, itself already worth the money. It has four main sections, and each sections have many some exhibitions. You can learn a lot about Islamic arts and culture. And at the end there is a very nice coffee next to the sea, the cakes there are just amazing, the price is a bit higher but with the view it worth it.

This is the palace of the ottomans who rules the empire. The story of the sultans and their wives, their aids and others is fascinating. The individual rooms are labeled. On entry you can get a free guided tour of the palace. The ceilings are ornate and so we’ll decorated. You can look into the life of the ottoman sultans and understand how they lived. There is even a circumcision room in the sultans quarter that was surprising to see.

A must to do!!! A beautiful imperial complex surrounded by Bosporus Strait. It served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire and the main residence of its sultans for around 400 years. Spot 2-3 hours to fully explore the beauty of Ottoman architecture, history, and culture. But ticket in advance and plan to do it on weekdays to avoid crowd. Highly recommended!!!

(Translated by Google) The palace where the Ottoman Empire was ruled for centuries, located in the most beautiful location of the Historic Peninsula. After the conquest of Istanbul in 1453, the construction of Topkapi Palace, which was started in 1460 at the request of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, was completed in 1478. Topkapı Palace, which was not built together with all the additional buildings like Dolmabahçe Palace, was enlarged with the added structures until the 19th century. (Original) Tarihi Yarımada 'nin en güzel mevkisine konumlanmış Osmanlı imparatorluğunun yüzyıllar boyunca yönetildiği saray. 1453 yılında İstanbul’un fethi sonrasında Fatih Sultan Mehmet’in isteği üzerine 1460 yıllarında yapımına başlanan Topkapı Sarayı’nın inşası 1478 yılında tamamlanmıştır. Dolmabahçe Sarayı gibi tek seferde tüm ek yapılarıyla beraber inşa edilmeyen Topkapı Sarayı, 19. yüzyıla kadar eklenen yapılarla genişlemiştir.

It is a place that makes you feel history. Recently, a Turkish TV drama set in Harlem was being broadcast in Japan. So if there are a few more exhibits, if there are many rooms I thought it was more spectacular. I could see the piano behind the fence, but it was hard to see.

World wide famous place. How can it not be 5 stars. Chilly, rainy day, 35$ pp admission, still crowded, long lines outside and inside. Every nationality in the world is here. That is amazing as well as the site. All about the power and wealth of the Ottoman Empire. And wow, did they have a lot of power. It's on display here. The gold, jewels, opulence, marble, mosaics, exotic fabrics, weapons, Muslim artifacts (the prophets footprint, Davids sword). Amazing. Of and the human abuse... amazing, too. Slaves, sacrifices, torture, concubines. It was all here. At one time. A long time ago. Generally, it is a very well organized and secure place. Lots of workers, in uniform, some in tie and jacket, folks sweeping cleaning. All willing to answer questions, smile. Turkish people look after their history and do it well. Complaints? The WCs need upgrades. The line, especially women, is too long, the facility dirty and cramped. A world-famous site, come on, this is not the memory you want folks to leave with. Cafe is too small, not nearly enough seats. The signage is not good. The maps are worn out. The legend items on the map aren't on the map. Signs with arrows, please! There are many buildings, and too much time was wasted trying to find them. Rest areas: need more benches. Plan on 2-5 hours. There's that much stuff to see. Also, great swarms of cruise boat tourists and school kids slow things down. Take your time and have patience, it's going to take all day anyway. Is it worth 35$ pp? Given the long lines (30 minutes, October, Monday, 10am) to get they long lines while inside to get into buildings, most would say yes. The lines move well, so they are tolerable. There is no need to buy tickets ahead. You will still wait in line to get in the gate and to get into the popular buildings (palace, religious artifacts).

The Harem looks like a women's prison with bars on the windows and cameras for the Sultan's concubines. This is a sad fact about the attitude towards women in Islam. The narrow, damp, cold and dark corridors and rooms in which hundreds of young girls lived. Baths for wives and casemates for the rest. Among all this is the personal apartment of Suleiman the Magnificent. In addition to the dark past, which evokes sadness and fear, the Harem needs restoration because it looks very dilapidated.

This is a must see if you're in Istanbul! Personally we preferred spending time wandering versus rushing through with a guide. We spent close to 3 hours exploring the grounds but could have spent even more - there's so much to see!

The best historic museum that I have been in my entire life! One of the best places to visit during your time in Istanbul. Lots of history!! It is huge and you get to see how how once the emperors of the world lived. Every tile, china, ceiling, every detail brings you to the old times. By the way, it has an absolutely fantastic view to the Marmara sea in one of the main balconies. You should see Istanbul in the eyes of the Sultan's in that balcony.

According to my experience, April is the best time for visiting Istanbul, because the scenery is just amazing. And the reason i went to Turkey, is because in this museum the have Fatima dress (daughter of prophet Muhammad SAW) and other things that related with the prophet. Because i love the prophet, and i'd like to respect humankind who treasure his belonging

The Topkapi Palace Museum is located in Sultanahmet district near by Hogia Sophia. You can visit museum during 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The entrance fee is 100 lira and you can hire tour guide for additional payment if you want to know the history of the Topkapi Palace. Fabulous says it all. To avoid the crowds of tourists the best advice is to check online for busy visiting times first, then purchase your ticket to get into the Topkapi Palace entrance at the appropriate time; walk straight through the palace grounds to the entrance of the Topkapi Palace Harem and buy your entrance ticket before the sightseeing hoards descend. During your visit you can expect to be stunned by the beautiful tiles and the lavish rooms, it really is that special. Afterwards you can spend time in the Palace which is also great but its a little bit like "after the Lord Mayors Show"

Quite interesting to walk through private spaces of Sultans, where they lived with their numerous concubines and eunuchs. However, it's not that lavish as I was expecting. Also this place could spark more imagination if there were more compelling stories here rather than just descriptions.

If you ever wanted to experience the lavish life of a Sultan this is the place for you. The grounds are immense, the construction magnificent and the rooms lavishly decorated. I took away one star because the place is both incredibly big and incredibly crowded, we did it as part of a 2 hour tour but quite honestly you need at least 2 or 3 days to really be able to access all the areas. Taking pictures was almost impossible because of the amount of people visiting. Overall is a must-see when in Istanbul, you cannot come to Istanbul and miss this place but take a whole day tour if you really want to enjoy it.

This palace is definitely worth the visit. There are many beautiful rooms which are beautifully decorated and have their original furniture. The reason I only give 4 stars is because there are even more empty rooms that in no way display their original usage. I think this palace would be even better if they made more reconstructions so that visitors can really be emerged in how the palace used to operate.

I don't know what to begin with! This place is indeed a palace. There are many areas where you can explore and it will definitely take a while to explore everything. There is a "balcony" that you can go and see the breathtaking view of the Bosporus Strait and Çamlıca. You can see the Çamlıca Tower and mosque. Anyways, let's talk about another topic, the countless works recovered during the Ottoman period. There are a lot of things suck as swords, armor, things recovered from Prophets, clothing that Sultans and Padishahs wore... To sum it up, this place is magnificent and I 100℅ recommend that you go here and come back again.

Had a super day at the Topkapi Palace, there is much to see and it’s so calm and peaceful. The whole museum is wonderfully maintained, from the buildings, and museums expertly curated item’s displayed, to the grounds. I don’t think I’ve been somewhere so clean with various staff members going about their daily activities to ensure the standards are maintained. The museum items were really interesting and well put together. You’ll certainly need a good couple of hours to thoroughly explore and enjoy all areas of the palace and grounds. Visited in early April and some areas were closed to the public, due to upkeep of those areas. On the whole I don’t feel anything was overly missed and enjoyed the day. Suitable for all age groups. There are many areas with steps so those who struggle with certain disabilities might struggle, however many areas have been adapted where suitable to accommodate those individuals. Good value for money and well worth a visit.

One of few places we visited in Istanbul where there were no renovation going on. Initially we arrived there after it's announced open time, but guard told us it is still closed. From inside property, can see beautiful view of Galata tower area and Asia side. Ground was maintained very beautifully, and even those who are not interested to history, it is the place should visit. Also, this palace is different from those palace / castle in western Europe. there are a lot of small building with only a room which has sofa and fire place.

Topkapı Palace Museum (Turkish Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi) Istanbul exhibits the imperial collections of the Ottoman Empire and maintains an extensive collection of books and manuscripts in its library. It is housed in a palace complex that served as the administrative centre and residence of the imperial Ottoman court from about 1478 to 1856. About 30 sultans ruled from the Topkapı Palace for nearly four centuries during the Ottoman Empire’s 600-year reign, beginning with Sultan Mehmed II. It opened as a museum in 1924, a year after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.

(Translated by Google) I've stayed here for the longest time as far as the palace is concerned, this place is interesting to me, intriguing, if we take into account everything we know and just assume what we don't know. so my wife and I indulged ourselves in contemplation and reflection, to the will, without any haste. Nice during that time, very lavish, but again my subjective feeling says ----- sad place. 250 chambers (not all open to visit), numerous auxiliary chambers, bathrooms, inner courtyards, semi-dark staircases ideal for a night ambush of dangerous opponents. The windows are lavishly decorated, but not a bird to fly through. Only the sun's air could go in and out when it wanted, and of course the Sultan. It was a female dungeon, though. Intrigue and ambition led the main word and of course the Sultan's mother. Her sumptuous chambers speak of the influence this woman had over her son, Harem and the empire. The rods on the walls were used for beating on the soles of the guilty but also the innocent, regularly used on newcomers. There was something sad about that harem, there must have been a lot of tears shed right here. Slaves brought from all sides, torn away from their roots, alone, without knowledge of the language, most often. Slaves forced to fight relentlessly to survive would most often become ferocious or, if they could not, be gone. Beauty was a sin in Harem; there was no indifference, so that beautiful slaves became prey to jealous women rather than being noticed by the Sultan. The main goal, how to become a Sultan's darling and give birth to a male child and then, if they succeed, how to preserve themselves and their children in life, because poisoning and murder were a very common thing. Officially, about one hundred shahzad (princes) were killed or poisoned.

More history than I could handle! Awed by what is in there. Clocks, guns, swords, artifacts. Wow! For some of the items, we weren't even sure they were for real - too old. Great learning place for a Muslim and great for others to see how rich Islamic history is. It took us more than half a day to explore, still we were craving for more. Excellent cafe with a great view of the ocean. Visited in April 2014.

Beautiful palace! Its really big! Audiotours are free but you have to give off your ID or passport. There are some places in the palace where you can get a Coffee or a drink. There is also a restaurant near the last courtyard. There are a lot spots in the palace where you cant make a picture so be aware of that!

Such an amazing museum. You could easily spend the whole day here. So much to see and experience. The palace in of itself is a elegant and beautiful building. The museum is full of history and Turkish culture. In particular, you should also make sure that you go and see the whole relics. Full of breathtaking Islamic artifacts from the prophets and companions. Would recommend this museum to all in Istanbul.

This location was one I was really excited to see, but with the wintry mix of rain and ice along with cold temperatures it didn’t make for the best experience. I could tell the grounds are likely very beautiful during the spring and summer and the light when the sun is out must hit the tiles so nicely as well. But this wasn’t the case for me, I was a little underwhelmed. It was cool to learn a little bit about the history and the Ottoman Empire. I would recommend it, but make sure to have standard expectations.

Tuesday closed. Avoid afternoon. I'd advise you to go in the morning and that too a weekday instead of weekend to avoid the rush. No need to book tickets in advance if you reach early. You can get tickets on the counter for which they charge 950 Turkish Lira for both the Palace and Harem. You will also get a free audio guide/device but for that you might have to pay some money/passport/ID and it is refundable. Take water and food with you. It took me 4-5 hours to explore both the Palace and Harem as it is huge. Must visit as you'll be walking the the history of Turkey. I will be honest I felt the ticket prices were costly.

One of the most important palaces in Istanbul. It deserves at least half a day to visit. Each museum/ show room has something meaningful to present. There are some holy collections and presentation rooms. Highly recommended. Better do some research before visiting or download museum app or find a tour guide.

The Palace of Sultan Ahmed I. He used to rule all over Europe and Middle East from this palace. Though it seemed a bit small considering his jurisdictions area. The Chamber of Holy Relic is a mesmerizing thing to look for especially for Muslim religion. Overally it was a great experience witnessing this historical place.

A great place to learn more about how the Sultans and their families used to live. I enjoyed walking around the beautiful gardens and the calm patios. The only thing I didn't like was the audio guide, it was terrible to identify which number contained the information about the site you were at. I recommend at least 3 to 4 hours to visit this place. ☺️

(Translated by Google) An Ottoman palace, which has one of the most beautiful views that make up the silhouette of Istanbul, is the treasure of our civilization on the historical peninsula. After the conquest of Istanbul in 1453, the construction of Topkapi Palace, which was started in 1460 at the request of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, was completed in 1478. Topkapı Palace, which was not built together with all the additional buildings like the Dolmabahçe Palace, was expanded with the added structures until the 19th century. Topkapı Palace is located in one of the oldest historical regions of Istanbul. Located in the historical Istanbul Peninsula between the Marmara Sea, the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn, the palace is one of Istanbul's iconic structures. Topkapı Palace, built on an area of 700,000 square meters on the Eastern Roman acropolis in Sarayburnu, is the administrative, educational and artistic center of the empire for approximately four hundred years from Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror to the 31st sultan Abdulmecid; It became the house of the sultans. Topkapı Palace, which was gradually abandoned after the dynasty moved to Dolmabahçe Palace from the middle of the 19th century, preserved its historical importance and value. After the founding of the Republic of Turkey, April 3, 1924, it converted into a museum Topkapi Palace, has the distinction of being the first museum of the Republic. Covering an area of approximately 300,000 square meters today, Topkapı Palace is one of the largest palace-museums in the world with its buildings, architecture, collections and approximately 300,000 archive documents. Although it's technically free, they want you to leave some money or documents (passports or ID) if you borrow the recording. I had underestimated just how long it would take to go around - especially if you include the Harem and Hagia Irene (which I would definitely recommend) - it’s at least half a day. There are so many little collections of things to see, eg clothing, weapons, holy relics, kitchen, clocks etc etc and the views are incredible. Well worth the rather high entrance fee - it is currently 950 lira to enter all three.

September 2023 - 950 lira for the whole site including the Harem. Overrun by large groups of cruise ship tourists docked for the day causing extensive waiting in very long queues. Once inside there isn’t much seating and it’s not very wheel chair friendly. Also it’s impossible to find toilets, refreshments or adequate seating. Take your time and don’t bother stressing over the many people jostling and pushing. There is so much to take in and it is a really beautiful place with a great collection. It is a beautiful complex to be sure, but very baroque/rococo in decoration. Of the many marvels in Istanbul that I’ve seen this was personally my least favorite. If you love baroque and rococo style you will certainly love this place and it is a must see. If you came to Istanbul for the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman architecture this is a pass.

Quite underwhelming. The price is quite high for Istanbul 100 Turkish Lira per person, not including any guide. Audio guide costs an additional 45 lira per person. The museum is not in very great shape, some spaces are closed off entirely and some green spaces lack the proper care. Not a lot to see for 100 lira. You can better spend it in a caffe.

We must know that Muslim housing consists of two very different parts: The selamik was the place where only the men could be and the harenlik the place of the women. It consists of more than three hundred units and if it was stepped on by a man it meant its execution. Mimar Sian was in charge of designing a large part of this building, the harem area is a great labyrinth, with more than three hundred rooms and with great incalculable architectural value. It is one of the sections that most attract the attention of visitors, and with good reason. Once inside, you go through what appears to be a maze that takes you to rooms full of the luxuries that its occupants were used to. (Translated by Google) To get to the harem, you do not need to buy any separate ticket - you need to buy the so-called Istanbul Museum Card for 220 lire (valid for 5 days) here and at the box office and go around all the main museums of the Historical Peninsula with a big discount and sometimes even without queues (I personally went around Topkapi, the harem, Sofia, the Archaeological Museum, Chora and the mosaic museum, and that's not all that is included in the price of the Museum Card). However, I have to add that you don’t have to go to the harem at all - this place is even more boring than Topkapi Palace itself - in fact, it’s a big bathhouse (in atmosphere and smell), in which there are several “relaxation rooms” after this baths. It’s not even clear how all the last Ottoman sultans (from the end of the 17th century until the beginning of the 20th) spent all their time not in battles and campaigns, but in this fragile and dull place. (I’ll clarify: in fact, a harem is not only a hostel for concubines, it’s just that the main residence of the Sultan, and concubines were in the neighboring rooms with him.)

Has some good photo spots on the outside. Underwhelming on the inside. The audio guide didn't have much in terms of history. The palace is fairly new in historic terms, with most of it being built in the 19th century or so.

Beautiful place to visit with family and friends the place is covering such a big area with respective people and police i wished to visit inside the museum with a big size of garden with alots of birds chirping including parrots voice The reason i gave 3 star is the security didn't let me take my camera stand and many other tourist were allowed to take and without my camera stand it was difficult to take photos of me and my family

Walking along the historic buildings of a once a great empire is a valuable experience. It’s amazing to see the cultural influences from all over the world and how they shaped the current Turkish culture. I’m not quite sure of the authenticity of some items they had on display, like the famous spoonmaker’s diamond, but overall it was quite enjoyable to see this well preserved chapter of the Ottoman history.

Where to begin with such a place? Well first off, a tour guide will make such a big difference; otherwise you’re staring at walls and windows wondering. The visuals of this place are striking and inspiring and incredible. Of all the palaces I’ve seen worldwide this is considerably worth the time. It’s big, and could take a couple hours to explore. There are shops and snacks and cafe inside. It’s huge! Sort of speechless here, you’ll have to see for yourself.

  • 4/5 Ali G. 2 years ago on Google
It was such a nice garden but make sure you have enough time to discover it all because it takes so long actually. The line to get tickets was too long. There was not enough guidance to help visit different parts unfortunately unless you paid.

Worth the price to visit the palace. Definitely recommend a tour guide - got one through Airbnb and Cihan was phenomenal. We didn’t have to wait in line for a ticket as it was included. He is a great story teller and the trip would not have been as good without him!

If you love all things history then this place is a must. They offer Tours and also Audio Guides that you can use on your own. Definitely worth the experience. Worth visiting, you can spend there easily half a day. If you get a museum card you can visit other places in Istanbul too and I think it’s a good bargain. We good an audio guide which was quite helpful, but I think a real guide would be much better.

If you have to pick up one place to visit in Istanbul and probably Turkey, this is the one. Bought our tickets online. Were sent an email with entrance instructions which we followed. We were supposed to be met by a tour guide in a red shirt/jacket. We never got in and ended up getting scammed. We called the local agent number in the email who was (expectedly) rude and unhelpful so we never got in and were told to wait until the following slot two hours after the original one. So we just left for the day. No refund of course

Beautiful palace that has been converted into a museum. Even though there are large queues to get in, tickets can be easily purchased inside with an audio guide. The queue to get in, is long because it is a security check queue. The palace itself has been very well maintained, and every aspect of the palace has been well described inside.

  • 4/5 Jenny M. 1 year ago on Google
You can easily spend hours here. We had a guide which was the best decision. There is an audio guide but we didn't realize that so we went with a Turkish guide. Having someone to explain everything and tell you the stories from the family and the Ottomans in general was really worth it. We didn't have to queue for ages like some of the other tourist locations in Istanbul which was good. There is a small drinks and ice cream cafe and a larger restaurant on the premises both of which were decent.

It’s so beautiful place! So let’s start, the enter for non Turkish costs 300 lira, but for Turkish is 100 lira..unfair:) so it’s huge, we spent there like an hour or even more but! Honestly I expected more! In Turkish series they showed it like a really huge castle 🏰 but for real there’s a lot of buildings and they’re not connected, and rooms are almost empty..I wanted more! But anyway it’s really beautiful 😍 and all this gold sultan style🙌🏼 9/10

Gorgeous, stunning, grand ... the lives of the nobility of yesteryears. Beautifully maintained, it tells you a story of how they lived and you get to see all the lavish rooms and halls. Worth a few hours of touring the palace. Or spend the whole day there.

This was a revelation. Beautiful grounds and the rooms with treasures kept on coming and coming. Of particular interest to me were the religious relics with the staff of Moses. You can easily spend most of a day here. We chose the tickets without audio as you then had to queue up again to get the audio equipment. The price was 500 lira each. Well worth it in my view.

This is probably the best museum I have ever visited. The entry ticket is TL 500 which is worth it. The palace is very well maintained. The objects in museum are of extremely high value. There are different sections of the museum such as Ottoman Empire related items but the best one is Holy Relecs. These are objects from different prophets. These items are over 2000 years old. The lawns and architecture of the palace is also breathtaking. If you have very short time in Istanbul, this should be one of the items to visit on your list. I went on Monday but it was still very crowded.

It is a great place to visit especially this area is very crowded and there's traffic is very fast people will have to care about to cross the roads and Walker on the roadside football and specially the cargo vehicle are so much fast and they don't care about the paddlers specially when they cross any road. People visiting outside from Istanbul should be very careful about the traffice rules and signals in this area. Unfortunately I got my vollet stollen from my jeans pocket containing almost 5000 liras and many personal belongings. It was a very sad and bad moment as a visitor getting stollen personal belongings like debit and credit cards and specially the passports. I would like to advise people visiting this place to be careful about the persons walking around you up up and down and front and back they are cheaters and they look around you and whenever you got your attention diverted to any other event they will steal your pocket and they will ruin you with the bad feelings. Thank you so much.

Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı) is a truly magnificent and historically significant site in Istanbul. While the palace complex is quite large and can be tiring to explore on foot, the stunning views of the Bosphorus Strait make it well worth the effort. Be prepared for long lines during peak hours, but keep an eye out for the automated ticket machines nearby, which are often less crowded. The rich history and beautiful architecture make Topkapı Palace a must-visit destination when in Istanbul. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to do a bit of walking!

  • 3/5 Quoc V. 9 months ago on Google
It's a nice complex but not great. Be aware the tickets are very expressive (now close to $40 and no discount for children) and the inside of the palace is not that impressive. The rooms are mostly empty, few rooms have minimal furniture, and the museums are rather small. The garden is also rather basic. There is nothing left to see inside Hagia Irene as it is old and pretty much in ruin.

  • 5/5 Alex 9 months ago on Google
If you want to visit any great old places, that's it. Take a ticket for 950 TL to get access to the whole territory of the amazing rooms with a lot of staff, which were made 7 BCE and even older. Everyone can find something interesting here.

Very nice museum especially the place with the prophets‘ belongings. Definitely worth a visit. A lot of prophet Mohamed’s belongings. There’s just a line to receive the audio guide which in my opinion is not very practical since it is a loud speaker and most probably you can’t hear it due to the surrounding noise.

Interesting exhibition, peaceful gardens with a great view of the city and the Bosporus. Cheap tickets with free audio guides, available stands to buy drinks inside. Additional fee to visit the harem. Suitable for a family visit, one of Istanbul's richest cultural monuments, not to miss. A thorough visit takes a whole afternoon, easily accessible as it is in the town's epicenter.

The place is great for tourist. But needs to be more digitally. There is no online ticket purchase where we used to wait too long to purchase our ticket. The translation recorded was not working effectively. Even you need to stop another line waiting to take the recorded translation device. Inside they work on it very well👍

Must see if you like musea. The place is very large so you can easily spend a few hours here. To buy tickets there are two options at a cashier or ticket machine, where the machine has a shorter waiting time. After that there were no waiting lines for me. The place itself was beautiful, clean and calm.

Plan to spend a while here if you're not doing the guided tour as this place is huge. If it gets busy you're looking at 5 hours. Lots of history about the ottomans, their lifestyles, culture, how they lived and loved.

Absolutely breath-taking! A stunning palace built over 4 courtyards, each in different styles and architecture echoing the different eras the Sultans who owned and occupied the palace over 4 centuries. The gardens are so peaceful, views over Istanbul and The Bosphorous stunning and the beauty of each building, both exterior and interior amazing! I'd recommend booking in advance to 'skip the queue, and have a guided tour allowing access to all areas'.

If you have an entire day in Istanbul, you should absolutely go to this palace. It takes a long time to see everything. Be patient and expect extremely long lineups everywhere. There are many cultural treasures and natural beauty there.

Amazing place I highly recommend it. Incredible look into Ottoman rule, Islamic art, design, architecture and history. I was shocked they had so many ancient religious relics and artifacts alongside the palace luxuries. The only reason I am taking one star off is for line management. Lines can be massively long for some rooms. I recommend coming late in the day. The lines die down about an hour before closing time.

Must visit when in Istanbul. For 750 lira you get a ticket and a free audio guide. You will need at least 2h there but i do recommend staying longer. The 4th courtyard has a beautiful terrace with an amazing view. Last but not the least there are lots of really friendly cats, just waiting to cuddle so bring them some wet cat food.
