Another excellent museum is the contemporary art museum at the castle, Uppsala konstmuseum. They have an excellent collection together with a temporary exhibitions and it is free. They share a coffee shop with the castle with a good selection of food and drinks. Take the elevator to the fourth floor and walk down for the best experience.

I went there to see the castle. I was not attentive to the exhibition but enjoyed a fairly priced coffee with a carrot cake, the exhibition had an free entrance. What I did not like was these protruding lamps in face height. If you faceplant in one of those , I imagine you could very easily get hurt in your eye. To me it seemed like glass that could get shattered and wound the eyeball. I might be wrong though.

The museum is in the castle, and nearby are the Linnaeus Gardens and the University of Uppsala. The exhibits mainly reflect the works of modern Swedish artists.

What sets Uppsala Art Museum apart is its location in a former 17th-century palace, known as Uppsala Castle. The museum is housed in the northern wing of the castle, which adds a touch of grandeur and historical charm to the entire experience. The museum's collection is focused on modern and contemporary art, with a wide range of works that encompass various mediums, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and installations. Would not say this place is for everyone's taste but the entry was free. Would have enjoyed more classical art and paintings! Also the cafeteria downstairs is very nice for "fika"!

Excellent contemporary art display on 1st floor. Part of the museum closed for installation of new show(s), so we only saw a limited part of the offerings for their 1800's+1900's collections. Smaller museum, but with FREE admission it's hard to complain about that! Overall, it was an interesting view of the ideas they wish to display. Lots of focus on Swedish artists in all areas.

Such a wonderful art museum with a great mixture between traditional and contemporary art pieces. Really accessible for wheelchair users. I enjoyed seeing the paintings by Swedish artists.

Nice and easy going staff with clear instructions. The curators have clearly put effort in writing the descriptions as they are dense and informative, with English translations. The collection is regional with some interesting pieces that one probably will not find elsewhere. The admission is free. I did not finish within one hour.

They have a good but not much art collection. I made it five stars because of the cozy cafe downstairs that had this delicious cheesecake and good coffee (with refills!)

It is an art museum but personally I am not impressed by it. It is that the museum is free.

Cozy but nice place. The day I was there it was free entry. I liked the modern art. Takes around 45 minutes to visit.
