This exquisite palace was built by the Gaekwad family. Ticket price is 250rs for Adult. I had paid online for the ticket twice by mistake, which was eventually refunded by the management later. They also have audio guides in many languages to assist you comprehend the palace's history. Photography is prohibited inside the palace. The staff is kind and willing to assist you with anything you need. Inside the palace, there is also a store where you can buy souvenirs and other items. A must-see attraction in Baroda.

Iconic tourist spot of the city. Went there for the first time after living in the city for about 15 years. Entry fees is 250 per person which didn't quite feel worth it. Should have been 150 or maximum 200. Being a heavy traveller, this place didn't feel as amazing as other old and iconic places I've visited across India. 4-5 rooms, cafe and garden front view are the only thing to be covered. Couldn't get the audio kit as we entered in the last 1 hour and queue management wasn't great. If you're bringing some guest, would rather suggest a combo ticket for 2 places + lunch. Big con: 1. No pictures allowed inside the palace so moments cannot be captured. 2. Weapon room which is the best part is a medium sized room so can feel crowded if 20+ people enter it at once. 3. The Cafe didn't have water bottle available, which was surprising considering its open during day time when people might be thirsty What I liked: The washroom looks old school and is pretty well maintained.

It is a stunning place to visit where we can know about Indian heritage, also the place is too huge and it's worth buying a ticket. Honestly, I enjoyed it very much. I felt I was over the moon when I was in these places. Moreover, it is very well maintained, and a lot of things about the heritage of Indian culture. Apart from this, the food was too delicious and the staff is very polite and humble. I think every person should watch these heritage sites. It is a very great experience. I loved it. ❤️

Built by king of Vadodara, this is the one of the most majestic palaces built in India. Spread across almost 700 acres & with 170 rooms, its a very well maintained palace & a portion of it is still used by the royal family. The ticket price is Rs 250 per person which includes audio guide & does a good job in explaining the palace. I felt that the pricing was slightly on higher side but shouldn't stop you from visiting this marvelous structure. A must visit & highly recommended.

History, heritage, architecture, paintings all are worth a site. Such beautiful decor, well preserved, well presented. They have maintained the the quality and hygiene. Every room is unique and themed. It is worth the time and money. A bit more maintenance and a bit more exposure for the visitors would be good. Many like us would really love to know more about the history n art.

The entrance ticket is 250 per person and for 375 you can buy a combo for Fatehsingh Museum too (which has far better things to see from historical point of view). For palace the entrance is gate 2 and for museum it's gate 3. There's no way to walk to the museum from the palace despite both being in the same compound. Photography is allowed only outside and very small portion of palace is open to visit. The guards constantly whistle at visitors. It doesn't give you feeling of tourist place with so many restrictions and rules.

A good place to visit while at Vadodara. The visitors are allowed in a small part of the Palace. Different rooms have different exhibits, which are well kept and labelled. A complimentary audio guide helps you understand the exhibits. You have to choose the language - English, Hindi or Marathi. Photography is allowed only outside but not inside. You can see the exhibits at your own pace. Please allow about 2 hours. I would certainly recommend a visit to the Palace when in Vadodara.

    1. A grand & majestic Palace. What a great piece of construction & art work done inside & outside of the palace. 2. While seeing such fantastic palaces, one wonders, was India actually a poor country emote Independence? 3. Well, the audio guided tour is good in which every person is provided with ear plugs & a device with multiple language options. 4. Monday the palace is closed, balance days open till 1730hrs. A considerable amount of effort has been put to maintain the artifacts inside the palace. However, scope of improvement is still there to maintain the outer structure.

It's an amazing palace to see. Situated on side of Jail road of Baroda. Vast parking available free of cost. One has to buy tickets from counter. One can buy it for palace entry as well as museum entry. Museum is far away from palace. On entry to palace, one is given ear plugs for listening to audio describing different sections of the palace. It is available in different languages. Inside palace, different sections are there used by King for specific reasons. Arms and Ammunition section was so amazing to see. Architecture was so eye catching. It was an amazing experience to watch the heritage articles. It requires atleast 2 hrs to visit palace. Outside palace, a large golf course is there which is not for visitors. I could not visit museum due to time constraints but feel it to be best just like palace. Clean washroom facility available. Tea coffee and snacks are available inside. We had great memories of visiting.

Well, this is a huge Property, one of the historical monuments of Baroda & a must visit place to understand the history of Baroda. Unfortunately, the palace needs maintenance, improvements & upkeep. I was not impressed with the state of this palace that we witnessed. Even though it’s a beautiful, the place needs some serious uplifting. It takes 2-3 hours to check it out. The best thing is they provide a free audio guide to get detailed explanation of every place in this palace. The carvings, painted glass, wall deco, sculptures are all very intricate & beautiful. The good thing is It has a nice cafeteria & clean bathrooms for visitors too. We spent time in Baroda !

Positives: - The palace is great and wonderful. It clearly shows how Kings used to live, it's massive. - Once you enter the building you will be directed to the office, where you can get the audio device which will guide you through. The devices are available in English, Hindi and Marathi. - Cleanliness and lighting is enough to see the artifacts and paintings etc. They have different rooms on the ground floor open for visiting which the audio device will help you with. - You can do a lot of photography with the external view of this palace. - Very quiet and serene. There is a golf course too, but I don't think we can visit that part. - The place has a small restaurant/canteen where you can have something to eat/drink. - There is a room full of weapons which have been used in a war. The audio device describes in details about some of the weapons which helps a lot. Negatives: - They charge a good amount but the visitors are only allowed on ground floor, rest it closed for visitors. - It will take you some time to understand how your audio device works, without it you will just roam around and see things. - DSLR's are now allowed, but phone cameras are. This did not make sense. - Pigeons are messing up various statues and they need to clean those. If you are visiting on weekend it will be a little crowded and you will have to wait for your turn to click your photos. Parking is ample and free. Ticket cost us Rs. 250/- per person on Sunday. Verdict: I would not suggest anyone to drive miles just to see this place. But if you are around, do pay a visit. A little more maintenance is required.

Magnificent palace. Every single thing in this palace exude beauty. From the tiles to the roof every has been created with great care. Ticket cost - Rs 250 (Indian tourist) Timing - 10 AM to 5 PM Closed on Monday and on national holidays Audio guide is provided in various indian languages including English. Audio Tour consists of 11 points of the palace. And its very nicely explained. Palace is located in the heart of green surroundings. Royals reside in the palace so only small part of the palace is open to the public. Which leaves tourists wanting for more. Photography is prohibited inside the palace. 😕

Great few hours to see the palace, would have been nice to walk around the gardens, too many areas fenced off, however worth the r525 for foreigners, extra for the museum, or special price for both, bus number 10 from city bus stand will take you to the entrance. Cafe selling water, and snacks. For such a large palace it would have been nice to see more of it inside, many areas were not allowed, no photos or videos inside.

A very grand property built on a huge estate. Impressive architecture, modern facilities, meticulously planned and very well maintained. The Tour is planned to show certain parts only of the palace as the owners still stay here. Audio guides included in ticket price and is very informative. The armoury section and the main Darbar hall are most impressive. No photography allowed inside the palace. Ample free parking available. A nice cafe on site sells delicious food items at very reasonable prices.

A Grand Palace from outside, but a let down when visited. We waited almost 45 minutes to buy tickets. There was one agent selling tickets and he was super slow. Feeding every guest's name and phone number into his system. Some people almost gave up. And there was frustration all around. The entrance into the palace is near a haphazard parking area. There are no photographs allowed inside the palace. Visitors have to pay a hefty 250 Rupees (that is a lot more than the Taj for Indian nationals). The ticket is alright, but there are barely any rooms to see. The entire visit can be wrapped up in 15 minutes. Having seen other forts and palaces, this was a real let down. The palace looks grand but unkempt from outside. Weeds and plants are growing on the terrace. The gardens are nt well kept either. The golf course makes the grounds look nice. We were really let down by the experience. I wish the palace is turned into a hotel and therefore can relive its glorious past.

Felt Grandiose and proud after visiting this palace.. such a wonderful palace. Price of tickets as per today is for adult 325- combo (museum+palace) only for palace 250 , only for meuseum 150. They are giving personal guide as an Audio device which will guide you in your preferred language (Gujarati, Hindi, English, french, Marathi ect.) At every place of the palace. The device will tell you the detail history of that area and even every possible stories related to every monuments and area. There is 10-11 sites in the palace which you have to visit.

Beautiful structure. Entry fees are there. Audio guide is very helpful to know about the history of the palace. It is included in the entry fees itself. Photography inside the palace is prohibited. Outside we have many places where we can click the photos. A small shopping place which seems to be very expensive is available. Small coffee shop also available. Car parking area is huge. Maintaining is though difficult expecting a little in a better way.

Nice place to visit if you are a history lover or like to see an ancient kind of site. This place belongs to SayajiRaje Gaekwad III (if I am not wrong). You have to pay 250Rs as an entry fee. Kids below 8 have free entry. You have to take an audio device from the office as per your preference of language, and your journey begins for an hour. Audio is a guided tour where 11 episodes are there. When you go to any place, you will find a number per place, which is actually an episode for that place. They also offer lavish lunch or dinner with additional price. Which is basically a buffet lunch/dinner within the palace. Food you will not find much different that the restaurant food but the experience is somewhat like 5 star. Free parking is available.

Marked by its phenomenally rich heritage, this palace is a gem waiting to be explored. The moment you get to the ticket counter, you will be helped with a mp3 player and earphones (audio available in 4-5 language option) which becomes your personal guide as you take the tour along this Mammoth palace. The experience of this palace like none other, untouched quaint architecture, huge corridors and palatial vibes take your breath away. The armoury room has a plethora of collections dating back a couple of centuries. The cafe within the vicinity is a lovely place to unwind while you're immersed in the royal vibes of the palace. Getting to the palace is easy, you'd easily find auto rickshaws that would take you to the palace. Do not miss spending some time at the majestic courtroom, the grandeur of the handcrafted carpers, and royal chandeliers are sure going to take you back to the days of the maharaja's rule.

Nice palace... you get to see beautiful paintings.. weaponry... beautiful architecture.... You also get a audio device to get additional information on the complete tour of the ground floor which is very informative. 1 star reduced for not allowing to see the upper floors and not allowing to use DSLR cameras. You can click photos from u mobile only outside the place. Clicking photos inside the palace is not allowed.

Its a beautiful palace, worth a visit if you are in Vadodara. They will give you a recorded tape that you carry and listen as you reach various sections of the palace. The sections are marked and you go in that order. Photography is not allowed indoors. There is a small area for some snacks , tea coffee inside. The lawns and the greenery/trees are well maintained.

The palace is rich in history and very well-maintained. The atmosphere is calming and it's definitely worth a visit while in Vadodara. The palace is extremely large and breathtaking, both on the inside and outside. There is also a golf course located adjacent to the palace. You can listen to an audio tour of the palace's history while you walk around, and the museum is also worth a visit.

Its a wow place. Right from the time you enter, you will get a wow effect. Its a huge place but the main palace tour, which is self guided, will take approx 45mins. Palace is very well maintained. Photography inside the palace is prohibited, but you can take pictures from outside. It has beautiful gardens, also used as golf course, houses a restaurant and a banquet for marriages and corporate gatherings, good parking facilities among others. Good tourist destination overall and the ticket price is worth it.

Awesome palace to visit in Vadodara. The palace is constructed by Gaikwad family. Indo-Saracenic architecture. The museum and art gallery is awesome. The audio guide is available here which is little bit worst part as everyone has not that much time to listen all audio clips. Otherwise it is best place to see old things in good way.

It is reputed to have been the largest private dwelling built till date and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. At the time of construction, it boasted the most modern amenities such as elevators and the interior is reminiscent of a large European country house.[1] It remains the residence of the royal family, who continue to be held in high esteem by the residents of Baroda. The Palace compound is of over 500 acres and houses a number of buildings, particularly the LVP Banquets & Conventions, Moti Bagh Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum building. In the 1930s Maharaja Pratapsinh created a golf course for use by his European guests. In the 1990s, Pratapsinh's grandson Samarjitsinh, a former Ranji trophy cricket player, renovated the course and opened it to the public.

It was an amazing experience to visit this palace. Entry ticket price 250/- including Audio guide. They will provide a audio gudie(sony) by which you can explore the palace more easily. It will take around 2hr to complete the tour. Inside the museum no electronic gadgets are allowed. Although they will not provide you any locker room but they will provide some space where you can kept your belongings. I will recommend all the tourist to visit this palace. Its a must visit palace. 👍

We went to the palace on a Sunday afternoon and while there wasn’t much of a crowd, there was absolutely no social distancing enforced especially at the ticket counter neither were some visitors wearing masks. As have many reviews mentioned, the entry ticket is exorbitant. Firstly, photography is allowed only on the exterior grounds and banned indoors, and while I thought the actual areas open to the public were adequate and interesting enough, it was an underwhelming experience. The audio guide has not been updated since 2014 (as per my husband who had visited then) and it lacked any information of value or repute. The audio guide narrator gushed about wealth and privilege while conveniently forgetting the listener had paid the princely sum of Rs 250 to enter one limited ground floor. I found it extremely tasteless. The architecture of the palace is an odd mix of different styles and periods. And the dull brown exterior is an affront on the eyes. As the audio narrator gushed no less than 10 times about Felici’s average marble sculptural work in the palace, some parts of the ground floor were quite lovely. Felici’s The Hunter and The Holy Man metal sculptures have been hidden away near the stairwell with nary a sign but they evoke a primal emotion when you look at them. The stained glass windows denoting Indian experiences in the Durbar Hall are magnificent and seeing the simple throne in the Throne room was an especially humbling experience. (One has to open their shoes before entering this room) The Armoury felt like a musty repetitive collection of old dusty swords and held no interest for me. However, as an art lover, I was absolutely appalled at the treatment of the original multiple Raja Ravi Verma paintings. They had no lighting to highlight their beauty and the work of the great master painter. Imagine if you visited the Louvre and saw the the Mona Lisa was mostly in shadow! Simply horrifying. If the place management sees this review, I hope they do something about the lighting for the paintings and some of the artefacts. The Ravi Verma paintings are also in urgent need of cleaning and restoration. The current palace residents need to look into this immediately. All in all, if you have nothing better to do over a weekend, or if you have an hour to spare, you could visit the palace for a rather disappointing sub par royal experience.

The palace is amazing. However some issues were observed during the visit. 1. The Rs250 entry fee gives you access to only the ground floor of the gigantic palace. 2. No pictures allowed. 3. Not worth the money if the structure cannot be entirely covered in the visit. 4. Visit gets over even before it starts.

Lakshmi Vilas Palace was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890 at the cost of £180,000. The entry is from gate # 2 and there is ample parking space for cars and two wheelers. Ticket cost is ₹250/- pp and had audio guide included that can be borrowed from visitors area inside the palace from where the tour starts. The audio guide is Sony MP3 player with 11 tracks for 11 points to be covered. You can pause/resume and choose any track(point) of your choice. The guard at the main entrace explained me the same. I wish those giving the audio guide should have explained that or may be I should have asked them! A part of palace is still being used as a residence by the royal family and visitors are allowed to visit only the public area. There is a small cafe and souvenir shop too inside the palace. Photography is not allowed inside the palace. The audio guide is little slow. If you follow it, it will take about an hour but without it, the entire palace (public area) can be easily covered in 30 mins.

See the magnificent history of Gaikawad Royal family but a brief one. Though I was impressed with the royal palace, the tour doesn't offer much with respect to royal family life. There are only few rooms opened such as Armour room, kings meetings room. Photos are not allowed inside the palace. The tickets are pricey with respect to value that it offers. It should not take more than 1-2 hours to visit.

One of the most beautiful Palace I have seen in my life. Surely deserves one more visit. Best place in vadodara to hangout with your friends, partner and family. Ticket is 250/- rs. Per head ... they will give audio player (pocket size) which will narrate each section of Palace and story related to it. They have this small cute Cafe inside. Pics inside Palace are prohibited but outside you can click some amazing shots. Car parking is available but no security out there. It's amazing place in rainy season 😍

I can say this place is good only for those who are deeply interested in armoury collection. Else it is not worth visiting. Museum ticket is of Rs. 150 and visit along with audio device is Rs. 250 which is not as good as it needs to be. Being a historical property I personally feel that the entry fees should be minimal so that a common man can easily afford and explore it, if the purpose is to get the people know our history. Here I feel like it is a second and easy income for the current Royal family living in the palace. Photography is not allowed within the premises. And only worth of this place is taking it's front view picture and understanding it's architecture. Rest is your own choice.

This place was absolutely amazing to see. The architecture and attention to all the fine details in the palace were jaw dropping. They do not allow any pictures inside the palace but I really recommend seeing it for yourself. The voice guided tour was nice, I had no idea about the history and learned quite a bit about the royal family who is still residing in the palace today.

The experience of this place has been designed very well... though the palace is decent & has very little to offer, the audio tour & explanation of each artefact is done wonderfully and it makes the overall experience amazing. One gets access to ground floor only as the royalty lives in 1st floor. Most of the art collection is in the museum, I'd rate that higher than this - head to gate 4 for the Fateh Sign museum for which a combo pass can be bought at the palace. Pro tip: go on a weekday morning at 9:30am and you'll get some quite time. Palace takes about 1hr and museum another 1hr. Plan accordingly.

Very beautiful palace. Everything is very well maintained. Rich history. Quality of audio book is also good. Takes approx a little more than 1 hour to complete the tour. Must see site if u ever come to Vadodra. For Indian citizens it's 250 bucks per head. They also have lunch and dinner facilities. Everything can be pre-booked online. They also have a mini cafeteria with amazing upside down pineapple cake. Loved it. I went on a rainy day so the weather was very pleasant and the pics turned out very well.

Its huge and very Good palace of Royal Gaikwad family of Vadodara. Parking facility available. Entry fee 250 per head. They provide audio device, which explains us each and every detail of the palace in many languages (English,Hindi,Gujarati,Marathi). Only Ground floor is open for viewers. The Royal family actually resides on upper floors. One should not miss Palace visit when you are in Vadodara.

An audio guided tour may take about 2 hrs to cover the 19th century built PALACE at VADODARA (GUJARAT). Other site like ZOO, MUSEUM may take more time. It is worth the price paid for entry. With all respect a worth, a time & money spent. Neat & Clean surroundings. Covid guidelines are followed religiously.

Apparently, it’s beautiful! Unfortunately we visited pretty late and the guards very restlessly began asking the visitors to leave as it was nearing the closing time. All we could see was the entrance and a little bit of the architectural marvel just as much as we could. Hope to visit again soon and share more.

The palace is grand and beautiful from the outside and, detailed and ornate from the inside. Photos are not allowed inside but there are plenty of places to take a picture outside. Special mention for the entry lobby with the beautiful statues, the darbar hall, the many beautiful paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, and the armoury hall. They provide a free audio guide but it's too long and stretches certain parts too much. Plan to spend about an hour or so here.

Great experience! One of the Largest private Residential palace in Asia. Was built in 1890 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. The entrance ticket is 375/- that includes both Palace and Museum. You get audio guide that tells all the interesting things about the palace, in and out. If ever you visit Vadodara, visit this palace for sure. You will love it and find some more reasons to be proud of India and its rich heritage.

Great experience visiting this heritage palace from British Era built for a Maratha Chieftain with amazing legacy of philanthropy and culture. Digital audio guide helps when looking at works of art - statues, paintings, pottery, building design, lighting, furniture and so on. A throwback to the Raj for modern enthusiasts. Wish they could provide more space for leisurely walk through the exhibits as the space was too crowded.

Historic place. Since its private property and a private residency of the royal family, most parts of the palace, esp, only ground floors open for public and rest, are out of bounds. They have made good audio track to listen to while we roam in the palace. Interesting and helpful. They must try to keep it more preserved thout it must be very costly for them. Anyways a very nice place and must visit.

Lakshmi Villas Palace is the Official residence of the Maharaja Of Baroda. The royal family still resides in this magnificent palace builtin 1889.A part of the palace is open for visitors during the day 10 am to 5 pm. Mondays is the weekly off day. The ticket cost includes a complimentary audio tour guide in either english &hindi. Photographs inside the palace are not permitted. The tour takes about an hour. Washrooms are clean. The grandeur of the palace is amazing and very intricate mosaic work. I think the first place where I have seen the Indian mythology on the stained glass form which enhances the beauty of the durbar hall.

Largest private residence and four times of Buckingham palace, the lakshmi vilas palace is very well maintained. one is allowed to see ground floor of the palace. The palace was built on indo sarsenic architecture and the architect found it to be unstable. However it still stands majestically. The entry ticket is little high and is less crowded because of it. The good part is the audio guide which is useful.

Bigger than you think, this place really shows the grandure of a King's Lifestyle in his times. You enter from the aide door, where they provide you an Audio Guide (in available languages like Hindi, English, Gujrati, French and many more), a helper will give you the basics like from where to start..where you can and can't click pictures etc. The Place have 11 different chambers each one dedicated to the different aspects of contemporary King. Be it the Entry Door, the Reception Hall, the Ammunition Room, the House of Commons, the Elephant Room or the Grand Central Hall...each chamber poses the scale of luxury one cannot imagine. Lakshmi Vilas Palace is one is kind not just because of the interiors, but with its stupendous architecture as well. The Place is designed by British Architect Robert Chisholm in 1890 under the realm of King SayajiRao Gaekwad III for ₹2.7 Million in that time. And that's the reason you can witness smooth europian touch gently mixed with Indian contemporary style of architecture. I can rate the palace in below 3 categories.. The Palace Itself: ***** Entry Tickets: *** (Seems a bit high for self guided tour) Area Available to Visit: **** (Nit entire palace is available for public) Maintenance: **** P.S. Photography inside the Palace is prohibited.

The museum is a bit of overpriced. Had to compensate 100Rupees per person to visit just the gallery. Many interesting things are placed there. I liked it very extensively. But again, I think it is overpriced, the art gallery is very much interesting. The paintings from the 19th century, that we have never seen before. The gifts from Chinese, Indonesian, Myanmar and the Japanese rulers. My personal favourite is mummified animals. English gifts are just paintings very much I thing. Again keep this all in mind before going there.

It is reputed to have been the largest private dwelling built till date and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. At the time of construction, it boasted the most modern amenities such as elevators and the interior is reminiscent of a large European country house. It remains the residence of the royal family, who continue to be held in high esteem by the residents of Baroda. The Palace compound houses a number of buildings, particularly the LVP Banquets & Conventions, Moti Bagh Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum building. In the 1930s Maharaja Pratapsinh created a golf course for use by his European guests. In the 1990s, Pratapsinh's grandson Samarjitsinh, a former Ranji trophy cricket player, renovated the course and opened it to the public.

Spread over 700 acres palace, gardens and golf course. Seperate entry gates for visitors... They have hiked the prices for Indians it's 250/- per person and 300/- for foreigners. Must see is the weponary division.. they have longest Gun, Aurganzeb sword and many other artillery. It's a audio guided tour which is included in the ticket... Premised are given for weddings and photoshoot flims and serials as well on rent. Internal photography is not allowed.

The palace is beautiful, but only ground floor could be visited that too limited sections. It costs Rs.250, and includes audio in your preferred language. The audio was lengthy and too slow, with no option to skip a particular part you don't want. Overall, it was good, but not worth spending Rs.250.

  • 5/5 Apoo 2 years ago on Google
Buy the tickets using online portal as it's much quicker. The QR code to the website will be displayed outside the tickets counter at the palace too. The palace is really nice experience as it's filled with beautiful statues and marvelous paintings (honestly Painter Ravi Verma now holds a very high place in my heart). Writing more about the palace would ruin your visit so it's better you go and see it for yourself and you won't be disappointed.

Didn't liked the place much, only if you are interested in seeing the outer side of palace and some architectural work then its ok. Rs.250 entry ticket for outside and ground floor is not worth according to me. Have posted photos, you can decide after looking at it.

Grand tour! Definitely a must visit if you're in vadodara. It'll take 1.5 hours to visit the whole palace area. Museum separately. The self-paced audio guide is the best thing to learn about the enriched past.

If you are already in the city, I would recommend to not miss this. The palace is well maintained (maybe because it is still official residency of family). I only opted for palace visit due to time constraint and missed out on museum so this review is only for palace. Ticked prize is high compared to how much is accessible. Indian citizen (adults) - Rs 250 /- If you came to the city just to visit palace then you might get a bit disappointed since majority is off limits and so it would be a short visit. Once you enter you are provided with an audio device as guide, available is 3 languages: Hindi, English, Gujarati. You are able to pause, move forward or backward on this device. This is really good as now you can move at your own pace, it also adds to the experience since it gives the narration more options in terms of music and anecdotes especially the Durbar grah. All the intricate designs on pillars and all the objects you could see are very beautiful and with audio guide you can better understand and appreciate them. This is the first historic place i have visited which provided audio guide, I would hope other places are able to adopt this way of touring. Majority of the palace is off limits. You can only visit ground floor within the palace. Outside the palace, you can visit only ground directly around the palace. I was very disappointed about this as google did show nature trails which I was looking forward to. Ground itself had some stuff left over from or being prepared for a function (stages, pillars etc) which was annoying as it meant we could not get a good view from distance to capture whole palace in one screen. Photography is not allowed within the palace and even for outside I was stopped for some place which looked like maybe leads to stable for horses or some trail since it had a wooden fence. I was able to complete the visit within 2 hours including getting tickets and few (not many) photos outside the palace.

This is a must visit if you are in Vadodara ! Just by looking at it feels very fantastic. The built and the colour is so much enriching . The self paced audio will surely tell you the whole engaging history about the whole palace . Photos are not allowed inside the palace and only ground floor is allowed for tourists to watch out for as the Raja's successors still stay there in above floors. The only thing I was not happy about this palace is its entry fee ...they are charging 250/- per person as entry fee ...which is not worthy enough I feel cause interiors are not well maintained and many structures and paintings have gone old and caught dust and marks . The entry for palace is 250/- and for the museum they are costing 175/- seperately...

  • 2/5 Akash J. 3 months ago on Google New
A good place but tickets are little overpriced. 250 for the palace & 150 for Museum plus 30 Extra for Audio Device. Though you can book tickets online there with combined ticket of Museum and Palace at 375/- Audio Device is a good experience but you need to stand in a long queue and waste time for collecting audio device. Also make sure Audio Device remains in sync with the places you are exploring inside Palace. Museum has a huge collection of beautiful paintings but they deposit the mobiles at counter. Photography is prohibited inside both places. Museum and Palace are at different locations and you need to go through different gates. Attached image of staff preparing the Audio Device. Need to improve this process.

A must visit if you're in the area and have about 1 hr - 1 hr 30 mins to spare. Their concept of plugged in audio acting as tour guide was different and fun! Especially worth it, if you reach around 5 30. (That's their last entry slot time) The sunset was beautiful. The architect even more so. If you're lucky, you can even spot a peacock or two!!
