A beautiful piece of heritage in the Sevasi (aka Gotri-Sevasi) area of Vadodara. We used to go here from school picnic and now as an adult, the place seem to be amazing to revisit those memories. The step well is maintained decently and now some of the villagers have built a small temple in between - not so sure if it was there from day one or not. A decent place if you want to show your kids how people of past had such a vast knowledge and planning of water management!

It’s an old structure with beautiful carving. It is a deep well which is dry now. Atmosphere inside is very soothing. Might find some bats.

This is a very old step well made and used by nearby villages. The place is now abandoned with the exception of a shiva temple on the middle level, the well is completely empty. There is no entry charges and is open on all days at all times

VADODARA: Over five centuries ago, this stepwell was a lifeline for residents of Sevasi and surrounding villages. Sevasi vaav built in the memory of spiritual leader Vidhyadhar was an architectural marvel and quite popular among the locals. But, this 542-year-old stepwell located right at the entrance of Sevasi village is in shambles and completely neglected now.

Sevasi vav , is a historical & religious place , both together, but being a historical place , its not being maintained , the authorized official should maintain it as a great place to visit once . The architectural structure is very well made & its very strong. A good spot for photography & visit with family. The water in step wall was dirty & garbage & small packets was there.

One of the best places in terms of architecture and construction of step well. Well maintained place. It's simply wonderful I can't imagine how beautifully the step well has been decorated. Marvelous carving everywhere on the wall, ceiling and pillars. One of the best things is you don't need to buy tickets to visit this place!

It was a great experience. Amazed to see almost seven storied stepwell. Tha area was reasonably clean. A good spot for photo shoots. Worth a visit. And the place is not too far from Vadodara city. Highly recommended for those interested in historic places.

This monument is a step well, around 550 years old, amazing design and architecture. Not so well maintained. But it's part of our history and we should visit this place once. It has small temples of goddesses as well

Nice place for photography Things to be taken care is -There is a temple in between stairs so respect that as people around that place have a high attachment for that place. -Dont try to behave like a Spidermen , Don't try to walk on slide of the wall. It's bit risky. - For photography early morning time will be fine as it's bit hot here. - #NoProper maintenance at this place by VMC - ab sab kuch review Mai like dunga to jaoge nai... Is liye jao n enjoy Karo..

Its a historical place almost 500 yrs old step well with 7 levels. Its construction is beautiful. But not maintained well, it stinks on the lower levels Can get good photos of its architecture. But small place cannot spend more than 1 hrs max here. People do walk on frames but i won't recommend as its too risky.

The step well is open for every one, but it's getting in in shape day by day. It's very cool and humid down. You can see the bottom of the well. Water is not there inside. Locals have made puja / havan kind of arrangement inside which is spoiling the walls of the step well. Archeological survey of India doesn't support this 500 year old well. I mean they used to but now they don't. Locals have tried to repair the walls, but it need experts who restore old buildings. But I can say if go downstairs you will experience a different world. It's very pleasant down. Sunlight is excellent inside so no need to worry for insects or snakes. Steps are clean. Bottom is covered with dry trash like plastic bottles etc. The well is beside the main road but due to illegal construction of Shops on the road, the well is hidden.

Nice place. May have been major tourist attraction if maintained property. It has a massive structure leading downwards to a very deep well. This has hundreds of stairs leading to the well from ground level. It may have been used as a water resource for large number of people at that time.

ItΒ is one of the most beautiful, yet quite neglected step-wells located in Sevasi area of Vadodara. This step-well is said to be made by Raja Haridas in memory of the revered spiritual leader Shri Vidyadhar in the year 1543, hence the name Vidyadhar ni Vav. There are seven stories in this step well, which one can climb down to reach the well water at the bottom. The water is cold and is protected from the heat of the region by the stone structure. There is also a deity kept in the wall which many come to worship before reaching the well. It's a must visit for people interested in history, heritage and architecture.

Can't imagine this stepwell is more than 500 years old, built by mohmad begda. Super archeological and heritage place, there is a temple inside it, and it's almost 7 floor, have seen few stepwell with water and always wondered what is like to be inside the last step and there was no water when we went there so we got a chance to go till end, one thing off the plate now. One thing is there is no development around it or nothing, which indicates there is a place like this. Bonus, you can take amazing photos there. The best time to visit early morning or evening.

It is a good place to visit. My kids also enjoyed this place. They learnt how it looks. This place is just beside the main road and you can enter the calm construction and enjoy its beauty from inside. It is well maintained. Good place for photo shoots. There is a small temple inside.

Vidyadhar (Vidhyadhar) Vaav is 5 minutes from Brand Factory on Gotri-Sevasi road. This will be on your left and u may miss it completely if not vigil. The visit can be completed in 15 minutes or can take half a day - if u are a archeology buff.

This exotic historic place hidden from view by the shops infront of the place. 8t is not very well kept except for a notice board starting it as a archiological heritage. Presently it does not have water in it and the place is used for worship by the locals. It is said there are many folklores associated to this well.

Excellent heritage site VIDYADHAR VAV (SEVASI STEPWELL) According to an inscription on one of its beams, the Vidyadhar Vav of Sewasi was built by Sultan Mahmud Begda of the Gujarat Sultanate, in Samvat 1549, to venerate Vidyadhar, a spiritual saint from the from the nearby village of Sevasi. The Vav (stepwell) is a combination of brick and stone masonry, oriented east-west and is ornamented well with motifs and reliefs of flowers and animals alike.

3 stars just for the place well made and 0 points to maintenance. How difficult is to save our heritage. Let's just not write but mention that locals would have made it possible with lil contribution and they would have maintained it and would have charged from visitors as well. It's in such a bad shape that you can't go down and see the well. It was smelling but locals were performing their havan and puja. How you can worship God by keeping him in such a place. Sad! The architecture is heartbreaking. We don't see such architecture now.

This beautiful historical structure is around 500 years old (Built in 1496) and is a really beautiful to visit. Although it is not really maintained by anyone and it needs no special tickets/charges to visit this place. It has a little well ( filled with dirty water looking to no maintenance factorπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ). I loved the architecture of this place it is really mesmerising and is very much close to Vadodara (literally on the way to Sindhrot). The gate is decorated with motif of animals like tiger and elephants. It is said about this place that young girls covered in gold were sacrificed at this stepwell for prosperity! Generally I’ve seen youngsters coming here for photography and shoots (since it’s really free for everyone!). Nice place to spend and hour or so. Do visit during early mornings or during sunset πŸŒ‡ for a beautiful vibe. Well I really liked this place.
