As you walk inside the Sayaji baugh zoo, you will people lined up for the train ride, The train travels through the entire zoo campus and the ride lasts for around 20min. Depending on the day and time of your visit, the queue for getting tickets and hopping onto the train may take longer times. Perfect for a ride around the zoo with your family and kids. In the bird park of the zoo, you can find quite diverse species of bird from different corners of the world. And to have to a closer interaction with these beautiful creatures, you might have to step down from the train ride, and visit the park on foot. Same goes with the animal section. This section hosts wild animals like lion, lioness, tigers, leopards, bear, monkeys, deer, crocodiles etc. No doubt the big cats are the highlight of this zoo. There lot of parks scattered throughout the zoo, perfect sites for taking breaks, picnics, having snacks and playing games. Parks are surrounded by tall trees in most of the sections, which can be very helpful during summer. There are few shops for buying foods and drinks inside the zoo, and also a Amul parlour, if you fancy a ice cream or a cold beverage.

Loved by people of all ages be it children, adults. Toy train ride lasts for 9-10 minutes but it is adequate. It covers whole area and the zoo. It is a must ride if you are visiting this place. Atmosphere is nice with families coming here with their children.

A good train experience in the heart of baroda. Children as well as people of all ages equally enjoy this train. The speed of the train is very low so that you can enjoy the park. The train coaches is open from all four sides for good view however this becomes a problem in rainy season. It may be good for the people who enjoys rains. During the weekend there is a heavy rush and long wait time. One need to stand in a queue for the ticket for more than 1 hour. The crowd is managed well at the train station.

Do take the Joy Train. We reached at 9am which is the start time but the person over there said it would start at 10.30am. Also the notice board says that the train will start when there are at least 40 people or after 45 mins of the last run - whichever comes first. The train goes through part of the zoo as well. It depends on parts of the garden that are under maintenance - as to whether the train will go into those areas. The train serves as a starting point where you get to know the place on a high level and subsequently decide which are the places are worth visiting.

It's very beautiful place Perhaps the most famous of all the tourist spots in the city of Vadodara, sayaji baugh also known as Kamati Baug will charm you with its sprawling green lawns and a multitude of varieties of floras. Named after its builder, Maharaja Sayajirao, this park was constructed in the year 1879 on the banks of the Vishwamitra River to offer the people of Baroda a combination of enjoyment and education. If you are bringing your kids along, they can have a ride in the toy train, which covers a distance of almost 3.5 km, providing a view of the garden on the way. And if all these are inciting you to explore the garden more, be ready for the breath-taking view of the amazing floral clock. This unique clock is given a natural look as the machinery of the clock works from under the ground. Near to railway station and bus depot

Most popular thing in the city. A toy train for all ages. Initially a small toy train was there only for children. But then they changed everything and now its for everyone. It circles around the whole sayaji baug including the zoo too.

Worth a visit with your kids. If you want to enjoy the experience, take a ride before sunset. Unfortunately, our "Swacch Citizens" have urinated near the ricket booking counter, making the ticket booking queue a very horrible place to stand. That's why 4 stars, else a good place with your family.

At a distance of 2 km from Vadodara Railway Station, Sayaji Baug is a public park located in Vadodara, Gujarat. Also known as Kamati Baug, it is one of the largest public gardens in Western India and among the top places of sightseeing in Vadodara. Situated on the banks of Vishwamitri River, Sayaji Baug was built by Maharaja Sayajirao III in 1879. Sprawling over an area of 113 acres, the garden houses a Zoo, Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, the Museum of Health and Hygiene, the Sardar Patel Planetarium and an operational toy train. Maintained by Vadodara Municipal Corporation, the park has three entrance gates where the main gate is at Sayaji Square locally known as 'Kala Ghoda Chowk' because of an equestrian statue standing there. This gate is only 800 meters from the main railway station. The third gate is at Rana Pratap square in Fatehgunj area, while the second gate stands somewhere in between first and third gates. Sayaji Baug, decorated with sculptures placed on pedestals, is an ideal place to rest and relax with well-maintained lawns and fountains. Around 98 species of trees can be seen here. The major attraction of the park is the floral clock, situated at the center of the garden and is the first of its kind in Gujarat. The machinery of the clock is underground, and its hour, minute and seconds hands move on a 20 feet diameter dial. There is also an astronomy park next to the planetarium that showcases the ancient Indian astronomical instruments. Another attraction of this park is the toy train that serves as a joy ride for visitors. Running on a small track width of 10 inches along a distance of 3.5 km, Joy train has 4 coaches and each coach will accommodate 36 passengers. Built in 1894, the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery within Sayaji Baug preserves a rich collection of art, sculpture, ethnography and ethnology. Major attractions of this museum include Egyptian mummy and skeleton of a blue whale. The picture gallery, which was opened in 1921, exhibits art works of British painters. Situated near the main gate of Sayaji Baug, the Sardar Patel Planetarium offers daily public shows as well as special shows to educational institutions. Established in 1932, the Health Museum situated in the Sayaji Baug premises is noted for its health exhibits, models of human anatomy, maps and charts on the subjects of health and sanitation

Amazing place for kids indeed, but did you know it's been said that late king Sayajirao Gaekwad imported train from Germany and placed it in city garden just so his son can roam around the garden. After freedom of India it was gifted to Municipality & it's been most attractive public place for kids. Though toy train often gets issues and gets closed for repairing but must visit if your kid loves trains..

Kids enjoy the joy train. Can be a bit crowded at sometimes so be ready to wait for sometime. Earlier the train used to go via zoo but now it bypasses the zoo. I didn't like the train ride much as I felt it very noisy and liked electric car rides more as it was peaceful. The place also has dashing car ride which is also nice for kids and adults equally. Kids below 5 are not allowed in dashing cars. Some rides and trampolin are also available for kids.

Very exciting, never have ride before. The station is very good, there is always a crowd and the train leaves when it has 40 passengers or wait for 45 minutes whichever is earlier...
