Wow! What an amazing zoo! I was so impressed. The variety of animals was amazing. There were the likes of tigers and pandas which seem to be so rare to find at zoos. We also saw the animals so up close which was incredible. The environment was beautiful and green and there were barely any people there on a weekday. Winner! There are also helpful and knowledgeable volunteers all around the zoo which was a nice touch.

Fabulous zoo suitable for the whole family! Great collection of exhibits and animals. Navigation and access and all easy. There is a large children’s playground as well. Plenty of cleaver exhibits for nocturnal animals as well. Strong recommend from me!

Only a small space, but well laid out and so much happening. We even had the delight of seeing the Pandas, despite them not being on display. Friendly staff and great displays. Only complaint: limited souvenirs.

Firstly I found the admission cost quite steep for us as a family especially as the zoo no longer has particular animals that used to be there and given that we didn’t see lion feeding because apparently that only happens every second day. The staff member whom fed the pelicans didn’t interact with the audience which I thought was odd. Volunteer staff were extremely helpful in guiding us and answering questions. In a good location. Not so easy to get parking which is an additional cost. Food in the cafe is very expensive as are the drinks. I personally don’t like to support observing animals that are caged or in small enclosures but my grandchildren wanted me to join them on their day out so for them I was happy to go. I find it sad for instance to see the giraffes in a small space as with a lot of the other animals. The zoo is however very well set up with an education centre attached and an animal health centre. The gardens are well maintained.

Visited this place mainly for the pandas which was lovely! Lucky to see at least one of the 2 pandas active during the feeding session. We also went around to see the other attractions and other animals—some areas were crowded but this is expected as it is school holidays. There are water fountains around the area which is good. Shaded seating areas are available for quick rests in between. Toilets were clean.

The zoo is a nice experience but not better than most others I have visited. Very good for children with a lot of Meet the Keeper educational shows through the day. We arrived at 945, most of the animals were hiding or asleep so I suggest to start in the afternoon. Took us 3 hours to see everything.

Quite a good zoo with few highlights especially the Panda exhibit is worth. Not as much as to see as compared to other zoos I have visited and bit expensive too.Need to get improved with latest infrastructure. Also there are lot of closed enclosures and very less animals.

Great day out for the family. If you have little ones, great the zoobaru for $15. Good fun. You can probably see most animals in just over 2 hours. If you go on Sunday, parking is free on plain tree drive.

Saw the panda!!! Also we enjoyed the panda talk and lion talk. It was fun to see the female lion (don’t know the name unfortunately) “attacked” the door to get her lunch, which my cat normally did!!! Also there is great design for red panda walk around in the air (see photo). However not many diversity of animals but hood quality visit!

The good old Adelaide zoo is still a favourite in my family. Still some historic parts of the zoo mixed with some needed upgrades. The range of animals is good but the numbers of each species are low. Always fun for the kids and a great chance to test your skills with the camera. Good value, good facilities.

We had a wonderful time at Adelaide zoo. The pandas are the drawcard and they are adorable. Entry was simple, grounds were maintained, and animals were up and about. The adventure playground was a hit, as were the buggies you hire to push the kids around.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Adelaide Zoo with my wife and daughter, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget. The animals were not only cute but also seemed very friendly, which made the visit even more delightful. Seeing the joy and wonder in my daughter’s eyes as she interacted with the animals was truly heartwarming. The zoo’s environment is welcoming, making it a perfect destination for families. Highly recommended for a day of fun and learning!

The Adelaide Zoo was not only a fantastic zoo for the brief moment that we were here, but the staff here are super helpful. Special mention goes to Paul (security guard) who went above and beyond to assist with our ill daughter who was becoming unwell due to dehydration. Russell (first aid officer) was also super helpful in providing first aid treatment to help her get better. Please pass this feedback onto management. We only got to see a little bit of the zoo, but we'll definitely return and would certainly recommend it to anyone. At least we got to see the giant pandas which is exclusive to this zoo. Yours truly @fooderarri

What an adventure! The staff were incredibly nice! My partner and I did 3 experiences; feeding the giraffes, feeding the lions, and feeding the little penguins. All staff were friendly, knowledgable and were willing to answer any question we had about the animals we were encountering. Their passion for the animals shone through. The resident photographer, Maggie was just a delight. We spent most of our day with her and it almost felt like we had a private tour guide. It was one of the best days I've ever had. 10/10 recommend a day at the zoo, and if you get an annual membership you get discounts on a range of things too, which was fantastic!

Great time - not busy on a Saturday, well maintained and animals out on show - we caught the lion feeding and loved the meerkats! One of the volunteers, Gill, took time out to show us around, informative and friendly. Only downside (and nothing to do with the zoo) were some of the other tourists trying to carve their name in the bamboo, which for some reason is a thing.

This zoo was really awesome . We have seen many of zoos and comparatively this zoo has plenty of space for the animals and the number of trees and plants around really makes it feel like you are in a jungle/Forest. We really enjoyed this zoo and the pandas and the Girraffes having a tall door to enter shade was our favourite 💛

Love the zoo, friendly, helpful staff. Nice layout with lots of cool plants. Animals look content in good size, clean enclosures. Like the conservation efforts and message of this zoo. As an added bonus, the bat colony just outside is quite simple unbelievable, I've never seen anything like it, amazing! Thanks Adelaide zoo 💖

Small zoo and unfortunately lots of enclosures empty or closed off on our visit (Panda's were closed 😭). Great location close to the city and I would say about a 2hr max adventure... Worth a visit if you feel the admission price is worth the 2 hrs of fun. It's not comparable to other Australian zoos (Like Taronga and Australia zoo) so keep an open mind.

We had a great experience during the Illuminate Adelaide festival. The queue was handled well and there were staff to make sure the entry process was smooth. The displays were phenomenal! There were plenty of volunteers who were able to guide us through the zoo. It was a great evening and we hope to be back soon

Surprising large zoo to walk around. The annual membership is a must if you have little kids. In October there is Boo at the Zoo (Halloween Theme event). We have not been there but looking at the decorations (still not complete when we were there), it looks amazing if you are into dress ups and Halloween events. We love the zoo. The location in the city is convenient and there is a large Botanic Garden just next door. The only thing lacking from the zoo experience is good food. The food quality is average from past experiences and we had food poisoning once last year. But we don't go to the zoo for the food.

Very nice and fully equipped zoo. It is easily accessible for wheelchair. All the animals were happy and playful. Specially lions put on an excellent show by cuddling and playing with each other.

We used the SA experiences voucher and fed the giraffes and spent afew hours looking at all the animals at the zoo. Great value when you have a voucher. We loved feeding the giraffes and seeing the animals without the huge crowds due to the rainy weather. The keepers and volunteer tour assistants were really informative and helpful.

I Absolutely Love Going To The Zoo!!! The zoo definitely has changed over the years. I could spend all day here doing laps over and over as every time we see them they are doing something different. I highly recommend you go to as many feeding times as you can.

Our 3rd visit ( from NSW ) to this zoo, naturally the Pandas are a big attraction & this time we bought the Panda Experience which was amazing, a private viewing of Pandas ,& the Red Pandas with expert commentary from our tour guide Rob, who also took us on a tour of other popular exhibits. His knowledge of the animals habits, environments & history of their time at Adelaide Zoo was just remarkable....and a few "dad jokes" thrown in as well. Highly recommended

The tiger friends tour was worth every cent. Our guide Gabriella was amazing - our two young ones loved the early visit. Being able to see the tigers before the zoo opens and with no crowds along with many other animals made it really good.

Phenomenal experience in Adelaide zoo that is bigger than it looks. Has every animals you can think of aside from aquatic animals (except for turtle 🐢 and penguins 🐧). There's roughly 2 cafes with food in here and plenty of bathroom while walking around. Aside from that, there's some shows or feeding session at specific hours that brings in crowds watching. Very spacious and pleasant visit so far.

We liked our visit to the zoo! It was a beautiful day and we got ample time to spend time observing the animal mannerisms. The lioness was such a poser and Sumatran Tiger was not happy with something , Kangaroos and Wallabies were busy eating while the Dingo’s were busy playing! The orangutan walked the ramp and went out of sight! Some said the zoo is small but I felt it was really well maintained and easy to cover in a couple of hours with the right dose of animals!

Loved our visit to Adelaide Zoo. Went in school holidays, not too much crowding aside from the odd vacation care groups. Shows were great, staff very informative and helpful. The only downside was trying to find a park, paying, and then having to go back out during the day to sort parking again.

We had a fantastic visit to the zoo, where we enjoyed seeing a wide variety of animals and admiring the beautiful plants. A helpful tip for future visitors: try to visit the pandas before lunchtime, as they tend to sleep in the afternoon, making them harder to spot later in the day.

Very interesting and good variety of animals. Well presented animal enclosures. We enjoyed lunch in the zoo. The souvenirs were a bit lacking as I was looking for an adult size T-shirt 😞

Beautiful well-kept zoo with optional add-on upgraded option for upclose and personal experiences (at an additional cost with included photo) available with eg. Turtles, penguins, insects. Lovely playgrounds and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Mini kids carts so tired kids can be pushed around in their own mini vehicle (with hire cost) a lovely idea. Definitely recommend this zoo as a must visit when in Adelaide!

It was our first outing to the Zoo. Wide variety of animals to see and great outing overall. All facilities are very well maintained, water points throughout the Zoo as well for filling up your water bottle. The giant Panda was our favourite. Unfortunately there were no Koala's at the time of our visit. We will definitely be back.

Have been to many all round the world but i found the Adelaide one particularly warm, and welcoming. Not only the animals also plenty of plants, trees, and the well-maintained setting makes a difference. My highlight was in the Gift Store as they sell $5 alive plants in pots, succulents and evergreens. The tiny profit goes to the zoo again.

We had an absolutely fantastic day with heaps to see. The giraffes were amazing and the meerkats and otters were just adorable. The coffee at the cafe in the middle of the zoo was just delicious. I think it’s brilliant how they have a big bird cage backing on to the toilets in the middle of the zoo but definitely feel sorry for the birds with the things they have to smell! Of course the toilets could have some better up keep but over all it wasn’t the worst.

  • 5/5 Taylor R. 7 months ago on Google
Awesome zoo, easy paths to follow with the map, great variety of animals and birds, and the only zoo in Australia with pandas! The bird show was fantastic and very informative 👏 Would definitely recommend it!

A great family outing at one of Adelaide's most iconic locations It's incredible how much joy Animals can bring to all walks of life, and having an ever expanding location like this is just incredible. I haven't been here much in my adult years, so I was blown away by the developments Amazing breadth of animals and a well structured area that promotes the celebration of wildlife An absolute perfect day out for family - everyone should go

A timeless Adelaide attraction. Visits can take up to 3-4 hours to see the entire Zoo and there are many options for guided tours or feedings. The pandas are the main attraction but recent works to new areas have added to the overall experience!

Fortunately, I was on time for a personal tour with a zoo volunteer. Andrew was kind and knowledgeable. The zoo was not too large but the animals were all in good shape. I love seeing the dingoes and pandas.

A fantastic day out at a wonderful zoo. This is a must if you're in Adelaide. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, a great range of happy animals, food is good & there's plenty for the kids to do too. 5 hours well spent - 6*

We travelled from Sydney specifically so my daughter could see the pandas. (She's obsessed). And we were amazed by so many little details at this zoo that created such an awesome atmosphere. We also did the Giraffe feeding experience. Amazing. And I noticed an employee with hot pink hair in charge of it. She definitely needs a raise. She was multi-tasking SO WELL, I just knew she was a mother because she was a natural at juggling 5 jobs at once! All while keeping such a positive attitude. The woman needs a raise. 10/10.

We visited on a Monday so it wasn't crowded; although the drawback was that there were less food stalls open. Overall the zoo was extremely lovely and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The zoo itself was also gorgeous and clean. Favorites were the lemurs and butterfly exhibits!

One of the best zoos I've been to. Great natural enclosures that the animals love, great tree lined pathways to wander about on, then throw in giant Panda's just a must see experience

Very clean and lovely scenery. Not as much to see as some other zoos I've been to, but still a great day. Especially If you have got little kiddies as everything is exciting 😊 The playground Is actually really good. Lots of tables and chairs and pricing was pretty standard for a public place.

Adelaide Zoo is a very nice place to pay visit with children. Every time we go there they have done pleasant improvements to the Zoo. Giant Pandas, Tiger enclosure, Lion and Lioness Nala are few of my favorites. Thought the Zoo is bit crowded they try their best to give the animals their natural habitat without making it looks like a cage. But can make more improvements.

  • 3/5 EJ S. 2 years ago on Google
A lot of a bigger animals were asleep or their enclosures were being maintained so they weren’t there. Confusing map. Clean facilities although one did smell very badly. A lot of animals were repeated and there’s no real structure to their placement. Melbourne zoo is much better. It seemed fairly run down. Some amazing fig trees though! I’m glad we are members and didn’t pay. I would be disappointed to pay $40 to go here. I’m glad we went though because I got to see pandas and quokka and a tortoise! So cool

The Adelaide Zoo is always a pleasure to visit. As members there are a couple of issues of concern. The first is we that we will no longer purchase ice creams now that Golden North is no longer offered. Also only one cafe is open causing long lines at the only available venue. With Covid rules relaxed I was surprised that on on a Monday & not being school holidays we were made to feel we should have booked online before attending.

Loved it, had a great day for the Variety Show Picnic. I thought all the animals seemed pretty ok within their enclosures apart from the big animals, and big cats. The tiger looked truly agitated pacing back and forward.

It's a lovely zoo in terms of gardens, paths and well established plants. On our visit a lot of enclosed we couldn't see/find alot of the animals. (Maybe they should put up some not one display signs) Some of the enclosures are very sad like the lions and the main attraction the only panda's in Australia where all hidden because it's spring and they are hanging inside with their lusty thoughts. It's a zoo, like all zoos it would be nicer to have some more space. But overall a lovely day out.

  • 5/5 Aneesh R. 11 months ago on Google
If you're looking for a wonderful zoo experience, Adelaide zoo is definitely worth a visit. However, it's worth noting that some animals may not be visible during your visit. And don't forget to check out the flying fox colony just outside - it's a sight to behold!

Nice place to bring your kids. There’s a playground inside and you can feed the animals too (please see the schedule on their website). If you lucky, you can see the three cubs play around, panda, and the orangutan too.

Not the the biggest Zoo in the country but has wide variety of animals. Tend to families with kids specific area and programme. Food court and shop for your souvenirs. Also caters for your particular function. Invites you to take out memberships to support the Zoo's animal allowing you frequent visits.

Really enjoyed my day at the Zoo. I used a birthday voucher to do the Meerkat and Lemur experiences. Both excellent to get up close to the animals and learn alot of information. The exhibits are all clean and cared for daily. The employees and volunteers are all friendly and very helpful. I recommend going early and planning which keeper talks you want to see. Prioritise those and then wander the zoo at leisure after. I parked at lot 14 carpark, $12 all day for early arrival, the meters outside the zoo are 4 hours Max (great for shorter visits)

Great visit, not too big for Nanna and a 2 year old. Great bird show, kids area along with our favourites, the giraffes, tigers ( 3 new cubs) Lions and the monkeys just to name a few. Lovely gardens, easy to navigate . A year pass is just AWESOME 🤩😃

Beautiful Zoo and Animals. Had a lovely time with my family walking around. Seen all the cute animals and had a good day. Food is way overpriced we paid $42.30 for 3 hotdogs and 3 small chips. Eat before you go.
