The place was very different than what I remembered it to be 15 years back. The overpriced guides, lack of tourist information center with information for the visitors, no maps of the site and closed government shop where we used to get juice earlier… the place was a chaos no one to advice what to do or where to get anything. The only good thing was the garden itself, serene, quiet and the promised apple laden trees (although they too were covered ) Request the administration to take the criticism positively.

Good place to take a walk around. We visited in February so apple trees had already shed all leaves but we could find reasonable snow here. Our pet dog was allowed inside. The views from the garden are superb.

This place is good but not as expected, thought of experiencing the hanging seasonal fruits closely but it wasn't. Trees were covered with net to save them from monkey menace which was understandable. However, it's a good valley view and a sort of short trekking. Not advisable for individuals/elders who are facing any walking issue. We visited on Sunday and the government authorised-fruit shop was closed, so we couldn't buy fruits inside, a big disappointment. There's no entry ticket but a Guide you can hire at different rates from Rs.300 to Rs. 1000 perhaps which will take you deep inside the valley.

We enjoyed the place and the views, but there werent any apples when we went, nor walnuts or almonds. I expected more from the cafe, but they had only tea and coffee. Nothing else was available. There is no one around to tell you about the trees and plantations there.

Chaubatia Gardens can enthrall sightseers to such an amount that they can spend years just by lying on the lawns and enjoying the view. Even the British Viceroy, Lord May, enjoyed its beauty and he decided to build a British cantonment in Ranikhet. It is atownbotanical garden that connects people with the globe of nurturingpleasures and florae to stir and aspire. More than two hundred species of flowers and fruits nurture in the park. Known for its apple orchards, the garden leaves everyone mesmerized due its unambiguous beauty. Moreover, plenty of trees growing fruits like apricot, apple, plums and peaches are lined in its vast scenery. Fruit garden running by Government Fruit Research Centre is also a special attraction of Chaubatia Gardens. Take a walk in the borderingscenic place 600-acre jungle, its tracksscattered with the silver oak, rhododendron, cypress, cedar, and pine trees, makes it a bliss for travelers. Positioned at anheight of 1850 m, from the park one can see the view of neighboring Himalayan ranges like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nilkanth. Teashop inside the orchard provides a tranquil sitting arrangement for the wanderers with a panoramic view of garden against the Himalaya. Beside this, Chaubatia Garden is famous for honey. You can buy honey, fruits and juices there and enjoy the bite and sip.

When in Ranikhet you have to go for some sightseeing. Can't keep sitting in your hotel room. Hence this is rather popular place to visit. They say, you will see lots of apple trees there. Not too many, though. Various other varieties of trees also present. Some trees are covered with nets for protection. There is a thinly attended restaurant at one end. Truly speaking , we didn't venture inside that.

It is a very vast area. You have to take a guide along in order to tour the whole forest and gardens. It's lovely to see the apple gardens. Moreover, the forest is quite dense and huge. Must visit this place.

The place is quite peaceful, with good views but with lesser apple farm. The guide charges ₹300 which is a total waste. Guide charges could have been lesser. You can get more apple trees on highways in uttarakhand. You can visit this spot if you have ample of time in ranikhet.

So much is said about this Orchard, but it is highly disappointing. You are not allowed to enter the so-called garden. I think one can avoid, except for those going in fruit season and people interested in trekking etc. There is treck through dense forest of about 7 Km upto the dam. Also, if you have time to spare in Ranikhet and love for nature, just spend a couple of hours. For us on 7th September it was quite hot and for senior citizen tiring & waste of time and efforts. This is a government orchard, on long gentle slope right up to the valley end. The trees are generally small and there is huge gap between trees. From any angle it does not look to be orchard. Depending upon location of stay in Ranikhet, it takes 40 min to one hour to reach through mostly carpeted hill road. You get first shock on reaching the spot, like abended place. There are few small old buildings, all closed. There is a pakka shed, where some people are standing and a rate list is displayed showing guide charges. They charged us Rs 500 and sent one guide. Total trail may be around 1.2 Km. We go down about 400 m on zig zag route through Oak, Deodar and such trees with gentle slope. We are at the boundary/fence of the orchard. Guide make us familiar with some stand-alone trees of apples, plums and pears etc while walking by the side of fence. After another 200 m there is a photo point. Guide happily offers his serviced as photographer. We keep moving through narrow path, partly filled with water and guide tells us about some medicine and poisonous bushes. We reach at the end of the tour. But to our dismay, we have to climb about 100m height before reaching a place where one can get water. This is difficult for old, especially ladies. Unfortunately, the caffe is just a shabby shop fortunately with water bottles, some drinks (at almost normal temp) and tea etc. They advise us not to use their toilets, being dirty and use the one at the entrance. Situation here is same. Men can use nature, against the wishes of nation. But ladies are stuck. I Forgot on way from tea stall to gate, there is private shop selling, jams, pickles, herbs, pulses and souvenirs. Large shop but no washroom. Midway there was Mata Jhula Devi temple. Excited to the orchard, we decided to stop while returning. Alas..we were not in position

A beautiful place amidst nature. At chaubatiya. Must visit. Recommended to be visited during apple season/spring. The entire place is full of blooms. Flowers growing wildly on the slopes is a treat to eyes and soul.

It’s an okay place. Nothing special about this. People say you can see apple farms with lots of apples on trees. However that is not true I visited Chubattia in April and I haven’t seen a single apple. If you plan to visit just check the apple season. Apart from this it’s on okay place.

Worth visiting definitely but the season needs to be busy right. Good variety of plants though. Its a little tricky to find from the road so do ask the nice military people in the are around. Entry is free but guide costs start from rs 300.
