My husband (First time in Algeria) and I left the apartment we were staying in - cold water, cold apartment - to come to this hotel. We saw it was a 5-star hotel with decent reviews. We were told it had hot water and the tempature would be hot too. We asked for two key card, but only one of them worked. The next day, we told them about this issue, and they did it again, but only one key card worked. Upon arrival to our room, the safe didn't work, so we had to wait for staff to come and fix it. The fridge wasn't full, so we had to wait for that to also be filled. We requested, but those did not come in until the next day when a staff member asked if we wanted room service. More importantly, the heat did not work. The staff told us it will take some time to heat. It was at the maximum 28 degrees Celsius, but it was cold we spent the night and half the day in the cold. My husband had to call and get staff to fix it. The room then stayed too hot...even at 21 degeees, it was still at 28. We did not sleep well, and I had issues breathing since it was so hot. My husband had to open the balcony a little to get cooler, fresh air, and then he couldn'tsleep most of the night. There was issues with hot water in which some days/times it was hot, while other times, there was no hot water. We tried expressing these issues to the staff, including the manager, but he did not seem to want to compensate for these issues, and mentioned that mistakes happen. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had, especially given that it's a 5-star hotel. If you plan to stay here, I recommend you reconsider and go somewhere else.

Nice architecture, beautiful landscape and surrounding nature. Inside is not so good for a 5-star, rooms are a bit smelly with older furniture. Very interesting lobby (historic).

Do not expect a modern touch here. This is a hotel that screams identity and culture. You have your wifi, and a good 24hrs room service, so if you are in town for business this is a good hotel. The location is always busy so add 20m to any trip/drive you want to make/plan. Overall really enjoyed the experience, and would recommend, and would come back.

The concierge in the night is amazing person. Truly gentleman and helpful. Speaks English and goes extra mile to help. He was very helpful for me guiding to the lounge and getting me taxi. 5 star hotel with 5 star employees

Tremendous potential. plenty of history, key location ...but the rooms are horrible. and so customer service , arrogance and unprofessionalism at its best....fire everyone and start all over .

Locally known as Saint George (if you ask a taxi to get you there) the staff is wonderful and bend over backwards to make your stay a joy.

An incredibly beautiful hotel in Algeria constructed in the 16th century with mauresque architecture was used by Eisenhower to command allied troops in north Africa from 1942 to 1943. Along with other well-known individuals, Winston Churchill also used it as an office during WWII, and the service was first-rate.

El Djazair HOTEL is a truly remarkable place that combines rich history and luxurious hospitality. This 16th-century Algerian gem, with its stunning Mauresque architecture, is steeped in a legacy of hosting distinguished guests. From receiving British Nobels during its previous name, St-Georges, to serving as General Eisenhower's headquarters for leading Allied troops in North Africa during 1942-1943, and even being an office for Winston Churchill during WWII, this hotel holds a unique place in history. The excellence of the service at El Djazair HOTEL is a testament to its commitment to guest satisfaction. Your experience here is a blend of elegance, history, and top-notch service, making it a truly 5-star destination.

Very historic and beautiful settings. Pool area food is great. Main dining meals were not great but this could have been due to the fact that we were a group who were given set menu. Overall a nice place to visit.

Charming hotel with a lot of history but in dire need of a thorough cleaning to get rid of the infestation of small creatures in the rooms and the hotel's restaurant, particularly around the fancy coffee machines. Nothing wrong with it being an old hotel but cleanliness is an issue. This hotel needs a serious renovation. The staff are quite friendly and helpful but they can only do so much with the little reinvestment that is made in the hotel. A lot of potential just needs some reinvestment and love.

Pretty shabby. Toilets don't flush, WiFi is intermittent, staff is surly and rude, room service pretty grim, "garden is ok" but the hotel is overpriced. Tried to bring some bread in and they said it was against the rules- a joke.

The hotel is distinguished by its central location, close to tourist attractions, restaurants and shops.

Beautiful historical place. Good, big, clean room, comfortable mattress and pillows. Abundant breakfast, good café/ bar service. BUT... My son was waiting for room service ( just a sandwich) for around 50 mins. Children under 15y are not allowed to the swimming pool, even with a parent staying with. Sauna/ hamam has no separate men/ women section, so, in the morning only men can use it, and women are allowed after 1pm. Rude, impolite staff in relaxation area. No sockets close to the bed,no room service menu in the room, empty mini bar, no pen, no paper for work, bathrobe with a hole. Long wait at reception for check in, the staff is not 5* polite and friendly.

I would like to express my satisfaction and appreciation for the excellent services provided by the El Djazair Hotel. My stay in this establishment was most pleasant, thanks to the quality of the welcome and the professionalism of the staff. As soon as I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by smiling and friendly staff. Their kindness and availability really helped make my stay memorable. I was impressed with their ability to anticipate my needs and respond to all my requests with alacrity. It is also worth highlighting the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms.

It's a nice place to relax and unwind, and it's a combination of a hotel and a museum. Friendly service and clean room. With views that dazzle you whether you are inside or outside. As for the inside, you will find traditional chandeliers with pictures of world celebrities, and as for the outside, you will find a picturesque garden.
