A very Wonderful historical place to visit. Each corner, Each rock has a story that makes you travel back in time where the might, nobles and kindness were gathered in one place by one people <3 A lot to see , the complete tour in Ghoufi will take 2 to 3 days camping there under the clean sky with shining start and the misty mountains up ahead.

Breathtaking views, the algerian version of canyon, peace of mind and calm, the river down the canyon and the palm trees along it make the absolute beauty of the region, you can find dozens of abandoned little villages of Berbers, there is history in these rocks and i wish they can talk to shed their tears, don’t hesitate to camp 🏕 the experience is unforgettable.

One of the must-see places in Algeria, mesmerizing landscape and nature. Unfortunately things have changed since COVID 19 as the owners of the lands near the river have barricaded the entrance and you're left with just a little place to explore, in addition the state of the place is worsened due to dryness and not many visitors at least for this period of the year. Hopefully things will get better.

A very beautiful hike of 23 km. The long canyon was carved out by the Abiod River (Ighzir Amellal). It crosses the entire region from Tifelfel to M'Chouneche. For three or four kilometers along the wadi, gardens of fruit trees and palm trees set into the wadi, dominated by cliffs with a height of 200 m or more depending on the location. The village of Ghoufi is located along the national road, on the northern cliff. Overlooking the oasis, the balconies of Ghoufi, cut into waterfalls in the rock, attracted the man who built there now uninhabited residences dating back four centuries. At the turn of each balcony is a village in the middle of which stands a taqliath (a multi-story building containing a number of rooms equal to the number of families, used to store crops and provisions). The villages clinging to the side of the cliff were named Hitesla, Idharène, Ath Mimoune, Ath Yahia, Ath Mansour or Taouriret. The architecture is typically Berber. The materials used are stone, roughly polished and joined with a local mortar, tree trunks and date palms. The Ghoufi gorges are, like the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon, composed of metamorphic and rudimentary rocks, and oasis-type vegetation, a unique specificity of this region.

An amazing place to visit. I was hoping to see this place for a long time and time came when I was invited by a friend to Arris and he took us to El Ghoufi Canyon, it was wonderful, I couldn't believe such a place exists in Algeria. I just didn't like the little trash I found in some places, I just wish people would be more civic and don't throw their garbage everywhere, otherwise, the canyon is a spectacular site to spend the day there, even for a barbecue next to the river :D

(Translated by Google) A journey through time and space A panorama that has nothing to envy to the great American canyon, or that of Idaren in the Tassili n’jjer, a long canyon that crosses the Aurès south of Batna. On more than 10 km along wadi Abiod (ighzer Amellal), we saw a wonder, a jewel, a gem, words abound to qualify the balconies of Ghoufi, we discover gardens of fruit trees and palm trees , dominated by cliffs with a height of 200 m or more depending on the location. At the bend of each balcony is a village in the middle of which stands a taqliath (a multi-storey building containing a number of rooms equal to the number of families, used as a warehouse for crops and provisions). The villages clinging to the side of the cliff were called Hitesla, Idharène, Ath Mimoune, Ath Yahia, Ath Mansour or Taouriret. In addition to the peaceful and mysterious atmosphere specific to the great outdoors which emanates from this site, we discover a troglodyte habitat, a singular architecture which symbolizes the will of these first inhabitants to become one with nature. Downstream, the site is highly polluted by wastewater which is discharged directly into the wadi, you should walk in the gardens when it is accessible. If you pay attention to the rocks on which you walk, you will undoubtedly spot some flint, I recovered several pieces, that I lugged over more than 10 km, two varieties stand out, one black and another colored brown stool !!

It is said that it is similar to the American city of Colorado, as the balconies of Gofi are considered one of the most important archaeological and natural areas in eastern Algeria, which is located in the province of Batna, where undulating rocky chains extend up from the bottom of the valley with a height of 60 meters. What added to the charm of this area are the canyons and the mud and stone houses that form a group of villages scattered on the sides of the White Valley, or as it is called in the Berber language, "or the most abundant hope", and it is six villages: Hitchlat, Athihi, Atmansour, Athmoun, Atfateh, Athuriyash, and its mountains that consist It is a metamorphic sedimentary rock, similar to the "Rocky Mountains and Grand Canyon" in the United States. In the colonial era, France took advantage of this place, because of its attractive natural beauty, as it built a residence for artists and wealthy people who used to go to Goofy to draw inspiration from its scenery. As for its hanging houses, which were formed centuries ago, or the “semi-cave” houses built of white stones, mud and palm trunks, they overlook the foot of the valley like balconies, hence the name “Gofi Balconies”, as it is believed that the Berber queen “The Priestess” built these houses To protect its army when needed, it takes the form of caves in a high rocky mountain and rises from the ground by forty meters, and these old stone houses carved in the rock high on the banks of the White Valley, formed wonderful balconies overlooking the bottom of the valley.

A unique place with stunning nature and a witness to the history of the region and the way of living there in ancient times. It just lacks some kind of introduction to the landmark, and I ask its visitors to preserve its authenticity and advice to those who go there to take what they need in terms of food and drink. There is an almost complete absence of services, while souvenirs can be purchased from craftsmen in the place. It is a place really worth a visit.

Superb site in the wylaya of Batna, around 60 km from Biskra and a little more (90 km) from Batna. Just the road between Biskra and Ghoufi is superb. The impression of sometimes being on Mars, sometimes in a palm grove. Visit to admire the sublime landscapes and go down the balconies. Many souvenir sellers on site but out of season (March 2024) restaurant closed and very few people (less than 10 people). Great memory

A place where you can feel the energy of it as soon as you put an eye on it, with a huge historical facts, beautiful views, from anywhere you look would it be upstream as well as downstream. Also adorable people sincerely kind and welcoming. However the site is lacking historical informations and legends wich would make it more and more interesting to visit, I still highly recommend 👌🏻
