This wonderful castle belonged to our ancestors in Galicia. The place is a very well preserved piece of history of one of the most important families in Spain.

Beautiful place with a very good organization to explore the castle and understand the history. Not only the castle visit is recommended, the outside area must be appreciated with very agreeable gardens and astonishing trees.

Absolutely beautiful gardens, and the castle itself is an amazing time capsule of Galician history

It is beautiful and mysterious outside, good views from the walls. Inside it is too modern, no spirit of old ages left, but there is very good exposition, and also a materials for children are offered.

Loved the castle in Sotomayor. So much history, located in a beautiful area. Worth making the short trip from Vigo to see it.

A beautiful historical site to visit. The guided tour is highly recommended, as the info and history of the castle is immense. The gardens are gorgeous, and there's an extensive amount of flora that grows there. The views from the castle are gorgeous. There is a cafe down at the bottom of the entrance/exit of the castle grounds. They have books about the castle for sale, but outside of that, there are no souvenirs. Definitely worth a visit if you're visiting Vigo or Pontevedra.

Amazing place. Most of the castle it is open so you can visit almost all the rooms. For my the best part of the castle is the outside, you can go up to the walls, enter through the bridge, understand how the people defend the castle. Also, you can walk through the forest to see the vineyard and a water mill

Beautiful cool and shady gardens. The castle is wonderful and it's story is well presented with static and film information. Thank you to the very enthusiastic and knowledgeable Miguel at the ticket office for all the information he gave us👍

Nice little castel in the green. We did not enter inside. From the outside it was well maintained. Q

An absolute gem. A turbulent past, very well documented and beautifully presented (information in excellent English). But as well as the sense of exploring a proper fortified castle, you have lovely gardens on the hillside, maintained by a whole army of workers. Exotic trees, a vineyard, great views and a cafe. And all for €2.50 if you're over 65, which you only need to pay if you are going into the castle itself.
