Above the pedestal stands the Marmòrica or Marmárica Ark, which is topped by a female figure raising the star of Compostela! Without a doubt a point of interest 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 in the Galician Capital!! The beautiful Fountain of the Horses is without a doubt one of the most famous and historic fountains in Santiago de Compostela. The fountain, of notable artistic workmanship, is located in the center of the Plaza de las Platerìas, in the immediate vicinity of the Cathedral. In particular, it is an Italian-style, circular, stone fountain. In the center there are four sea horses from whose mouths jets of water come out.

The Plaza de las Platerías faces the south façade of the Cathedral of Santiago and the cloister where, during the Middle Ages, merchants gathered to sell silver products, thus earning its name. In its center is a baroque-style stone fountain built in 1825, which replaced an older one and although it is known as a fountain of horses, in reality what is seen in it are four hippocampi (in Greek mythology). It is a horse with half of its body in the shape of a fish). From its center a woman emerges on the Marble Ark with the Star of Compostela and according to legend, this star led to the discovery of the apostle's tomb.
