In its half century of life, this hospital center has been subjected to different changes and transformations, even changing its name on several occasions. It was born with the name of Ciudad Sanitaria Juan Canalejo. In 2007, with the application of the Historical Memory Law, it was abandoned and renamed the University Hospital Complex of A Coruña. On August 21, 1972, the head of State, Francisco Franco, inaugurated the Juan Canalejo Health City in A Coruña. This large project included a general residence, a trauma and rehabilitation center, and an Outpatient Clinic block. Soon the hospital was recognized by everyone as a sign of identity of the city and its region, but also of Galician public health. In these five decades the hospital experienced the transfer of health responsibilities from Insalud to the Autonomous Community, as well as the creation of Sergas. This milestone in Galician public health was a boost for the A Coruña hospital, which grew both in space and structure as well as in services. In this half century of history, despite its evolution and all its changes, the A Coruña hospital has always remained under the support of four pillars: quality healthcare, teaching, research and innovation. More than 10,000 people pass through this hospital in A Coruña every day, which provides healthcare to an area of more than half a million people. The CHUAC is characterized by intense healthcare activity, which translates into more than 40,000 surgical interventions per year. The CHUAC - Complexo Hospitalario Universitario A Coruña is a complex of hospitals and health centers, previously known as Complejo Hospitalario Universitario Juan Canalejo and still called \"Juan Canalejo\" frequently by the population. Although the name is usually used to refer to the main building, also called Hospital A Coruña. The hospital serves the entire urban area of A Coruña, the regions of Betanzos and Bergantiños, and also the entire Cée hospital area.

(Translated by Google) Well let's start at the beginning, to get there there are large car parks, one that is expensive to pay, and the other is free, which is sometimes completely open. Upon entering, everything is clean and organized, the information personnel are polite and attentive, afterwards, by the plants, you do not feel that you are lost. The place is what it is and it is not good to pass or to be here since being there is not traumatic.

Nunca nadie vino a mirar si estaba bien o a preguntar!

I just took a 50 year jump in time (to be nice). I am accompanying my son to a colonoscopy and I arrive… at the “ganao” fair of 1970 (it was in color). But I already had clues about the time jump along the way: 0º-We ask a question at the hospital's main consultation desk: “Where is the endoscopy service?” Possible answers: “left/right”, response from our interlocutors: “you go that way and where the motorcycles… well next to it!!!” 1st-man smoking so happy under a sign of….NO SMOKING!!! There, with two sorrows, a good indication of our jump in time. 2nd-cemetery of household appliances at the door of the endoscopy service, a moment of industrial art to make the “wormhole” aesthetic more credible. 3-22 people waiting in a space 3 meters wide by 7 meters long (height 2.50 at most). Most people are of a certain age and their “clothes” do not tell us the year we have jumped to exactly. Post-pandemic over, good!! 4º- Broken tiles labeled in pen (probably BIC), this archaeological vestige could be talking about the 80s... 5º-Absolute absence of those responsible for the service in which we find ourselves. Testimony from one of the overcrowded patients: “from time to time, a nurse comes out and says names”, like that, in analogue and without anesthesia!! 6th-window with the possibility of opening through which we could jump without problem when discovering that we are not in the era that corresponds to us (that of AIs and those modern things...) Now I understand why you have to come to a colonoscopy “cagao”!!!

THE REALITY OF PUBLIC HEALTH IN SPAIN 20 hours in a row on the same day and without finishing caring for the same patient! What professionalism! How ethical! Hospitality on the floor! On top of the bad faces of the staff towards the patients! Quite hostile treatment. Hours pass and without reporting a contracture, high fever and gallbladder pain. The tests are not carried out correctly, they have to be repeated until twelve at night. having the entire afternoon to do it. Specifically since 3 in the afternoon. At 1 at night waiting again without a minimum of attention or observation of the patient, not to mention that they don't even tell you if they have the results. At 2 at night he continues waiting like a good Samaritan without an answer while his lack of tact and humanity says it all in itself. The distance or origin of the patient is not taken into account! Sleep in the hospital! That we are not all from A Coruña and there are people who have to work! Patients also have families like you, and they also have to work to earn their bread. You're not the only ones, you know? It is not taken into account much the diagnosis and severity of the patient at the time of care according to the order of arrival. The patient left fed up at 9 in the morning the next day since he was not provided with information about said tests. All that time wasted for nothing because when he left he was told that everything was fine, which is not true. If a patient continues to have intense acute pain, how will he or she be in good health? Totally, he left with acute pain in those circumstances because if it were up to them he would have another night without sleeping and without knowing anything, something that cannot be tolerated because we are all human gentlemen, rich and poor without distinction. By the way, if you are working in the bathroom and they open the door without knocking, it is the most normal thing for them. What an education! This is the reality of public health in Spain!! Just saying that I'm giving you a star that you don't even deserve should be given a zero.

I came in at 2:50 p.m. The doctor treated me at 4:00 p.m., taking me to the Emergency Room. 5' later I gave a urine sample. At 9:30 p.m. they still didn't tell me anything; I asked why. 10' later a doctor briefly told me about the infection I had and gave me a couple of pages with a partial report, recommending that <within 2/3 days> I call my family doctor <to find out the results of the culture>. When I arrived to pick up the prescribed antibiotic at the on-call pharmacy, around 10:30 p.m., I had to pay for it in full, since it wasn't put on my health card. The pharmacist recommended that I ask the next day, in case at the end of the shift or in a gap they put it into the system. They didn't do it. I understand that the ER, the flu cases have multiplied, etc., etc... but that almost 6 hours after having delivered the sample you have to "move" to see what happens and then finish it off, quickly, with a couple of words and having You have to pay 100% of the price of the medicine. Anyway !

A shame, after a waiting list for an MRI or ultrasound on a leg for "peripheral neuropathy" they called me to come today, September 6, 2023 at 10:30. It's 11 and they haven't called me yet and there's no one in the hallways waiting. 🤦🏽‍♀️

It's a shame, I've been there since 5:00 in the morning and it's already 10:42 and I'm waiting only for an x-ray to be read out, which on the other hand when they did it I was the only one, they tell me that until 8:00 The person who passes them does not come in, at this time there are only 5 people and they tell me that since there are many people we have to keep waiting. I don't know why they want the expansion if they don't have staff or desire to work. As I said, a real disaster. It is 11:05 and no doctor has shown up, neither to treat me nor to any of the people who have been there since 5:00 in the morning. But in which country we live, the same private doctors still go at a different pace to bill.

A few months ago I had to undergo a coronary intervention at the CHUAC in A Coruña and this caused me concern. Physically I noticed a significant decrease in my faculties and mentally I was also lower. When the time came for the intervention, everything was easier than I thought, I had exquisite attention, the staff who attended me did so with professionalism, respect and closeness; always waiting for any need, always attentive and affectionate. And as it is natural to be grateful, and more so in these times where older people become something unimportant to society, I want to show my gratitude to both the aforementioned staff and Dr. José J. Cuenca Castillo, Dr. Carmen Iglesias Gil and Dr. Bárbara Oujo González for their care at all levels and, above all, for substantially changing my state of health.

(Translated by Google) The best emergency hospital in the entire city, I went several times in less than three months. For personal reasons and personalized attention of 100% very friendly staff in general. Pending one continuously. And my sincere thanks for everything you do. Everyone from stretcher bearers, nurses, doctor / or etc. Very kind and pending one continuously. Bad phone reception. I've been trying to get in touch for over an hour and I'm done with the hold music... Then they say that we should not collapse the hospitals to make a simple appointment... well then they should do their job well and stop so much nonsense...

😠 It is more than evident that the emergency service of this hospital is undersized..., there is a lack of resources and personnel. After two and a half hours of waiting I leave without being attended to, and it is not the first time this has happened. The care at the Quiron Hospital is much more agil...

😠 And because you can't subtract stars...because not even the minimum that they require to be able to publish is deserved...not a bad place, the following... The greenery outside is very good...but since it is a rehabilitation center, the paving of the paths doesn't get along well with wheelchairs.....

😠 I came to this clinic through an Oferplan coupon and my experience has been very negative. I cannot assess on a technical level how they work because I did not get to undergo the treatment. The treatment received leaves much to be desired. After asking how late they were (after 35 minutes had passed...
