    I hope this will never happen to you. Last weekend, we rented a campervan from IndieCampers. When picking it up, my husband didn’t check the van for cleanliness. A couple of hours later, when I got in the van with my 10-months-old and my 4-years-old children I saw it completely dirty: food, gums, hair, dog hair all over the place. I immediately called IndieCampers and sent emails with photos. We paid 510 euros for 2 nights (because of extras). It is not cheap. I spent 3 hours cleaning or trying to, since we didn’t have the proper tools … dog hair over the mattresses. We had half the trip destroyed. The kids have allergies… the customer support does not give us alternatives. They say we will be compensated as soon as we deliver the van. Well. It did not happen. The compliance office was closed. It was Sunday. The advice of the customer support was: to send another email claiming the compensation. Worst user experience ever! IndieCampers returned 100 euros after several complaints. 100 euros is not enough to compensate the stress with 2 small children in a small dirty van, full of allergies. Imagine our night… Really bad experience. Hope it does not happen to you.

    Terrible experience! We got scammed by IndieCampers - even though we purchased the best insurance policy that's suppose to cover any damage, this small dent that appeared on our van was charged on 800€ on us! We couldn't believe it! We got charged as it was broken or all torned off. Also, the van kept spilling water inside a lot, some of the van equipment didn't function properly forcing us to not being able to shower in the van for some days

Alugo uma carrinha da indecampers chego ao local para levantar a carrinha e vejo umas carrinhas todas bonitas novas, mas a que me calha é da west coast Campers Antiga e suja, sim porque podia ser antiga mas estar limpa... O '' frigorífico'' que é mais uma ventoinha numa geleira tinha sido' 'limpo' mais parecia que tinham esguichado detergente lá para dentro e pronto, areia/pó em todos os compartimentos restos dos clientes anteriores, baton sra e talões... Em local nenhum diz que a indecampers é a Westcoast Campers e eu aluguei a Indicampers mas ok, segundo a explicação foi que a Westcoastcampers é a versão low cost, ok.. Mas não está escrito em lado nenhum onde eu adquiri o serviço que estava a alugar uma carrinha low cost.. Paguei o que me pediram.. Primeiro contacto a carrinha cheira mal.. A esgoto mesmo... Mas ok a vontade de ir é superior a razão de deixar lá a carrinha logo no primeiro dia e pensei é de estar fechada já passa.. . Passamos alguma meia hora a ver os danos exteriores que a carrinha tem.. Sim por que os interiores disseram me para nem me preocupar... Okk.... De mecanica nada a apontar agora o interior datado e sem utilidade nenhuma umas cortinas que n servem para nada, assim que fica dia não tapam sol nenhum, um colchão de baixo cheio de buracos, um lençol com mais manchas duvidosas que outra coisa é impossível fazer a cama de baixo.. Quando liguei para a linha a informar que a carrinha dava muito má imagem a marca disseram me que esperava eu a pagar uma diária tão baixa?? Ora isto é inadmissível eu paguei o que me pediram no site reservei para 5 pessoas n escolhi tarifa nenhuma em lugar nenhum estava escrito que por ser aquela tarifa ficava com uma carrinha de baixa qualidade. Quando entreguei a carrinha voltei a referir que a carrinha não tinha condições e a resposta foi que para a próxima devia reservar mais cedo para ter uma carrinha melhor.. Mais uma vez uma resposta parva.. Sei que é um negócio muito '' legalize'' mas com um serviço destes não só perderam um cliente como perderam vários potenciais clientes pois vou falar a toda a gente que conheço que não tem serviço ao cliente e que é aleatório o serviço que se recebe dessa empresa...

    It's incredibly disheartening to write this review, as my anticipation of a rewarding journey with Indiecampers devolved into an agonizing ordeal. Not only was I subjected to an intolerable wait time, despite booking a specific time slot, but the conditions of the vans themselves were a far cry from their advertised standard. The campervans provided by Indiecampers were startlingly rundown and evidently worn from use. The electrical outlets, crucial for a modern camping experience, were dysfunctional, adding another layer of inconvenience to the trip. Simple necessities, such as charging devices, became a challenge, thereby significantly impacting the overall travel experience. The beds were another glaring issue. As a tall individual, it was almost impossible for me to stretch out and sleep comfortably. The space was so cramped that I found myself sleeping in an awkward, curled-up position. As a result, I woke up each morning with severe neck and back pain, a most undesirable way to start a day of adventure. It’s absolutely unacceptable for a professional van rental company not to consider the needs of all body types and sizes. Moreover, it's preposterous that Indiecampers charges extra for their "time slots" feature when they evidently can't commit to it. Not only did they fail to provide the van at the agreed-upon time, but they also had the audacity to charge additional fees for this service. This not only reflects poorly on their respect for customer time but also their integrity as a business. Ultimately, I was left with an impression of a company that prefers to hide behind clever marketing, rather than delivering on their promises. I feel cheated, not just out of my money, but more importantly, my time and peace of mind. The tantalizing promise of an effortless adventure was overshadowed by the grim reality of a dilapidated van, excruciating physical discomfort, and frustratingly poor service. To fellow adventurers, I urge you to reconsider before choosing Indiecampers. You don't want to find yourself in a similar situation, where the excitement of a road trip fades into the frustration of dealing with unprofessional service and subpar facilities. There are numerous other van rental services that value their customers and their time - make sure to entrust your journey to them, not Indiecampers.

    ONE OF THE MOST TERRIBLE renting experience, DON’T RENT HERE ! Even more when it comes to customer service… Incredibly unfriendly staff who are supposed to help us. I am still waiting for my money back. We booked a van and after our first stop, we were not able to close the backdoor so we contacted the road support on WhatsApp but replies were very slow even though the situation was urgent. After no luck with a solution, we had to go to a camping area to spend the night as you can imagine it was a very cold night with an open door. The next morning we found repair shops where the men working there explained to us that no one will be able to repair it because it was Saturday and it would not be possible to find spare parts. From the morning, the indie campers road support were again slow at replying. We asked if we could return to lisbon to do a van switch but they said they weren’t able to reach the depot and that they believed they were too busy and didn’t have enough vans to facilitate such a change. But we made the decision to go back anyways because it was unsafe to drive with the back door open. When we arrived, the employees were nice and understanding and found a new van for us/ After an hour driving this NEW VAN we noticed a weird sound coming from the engine, after a while it also smelt very burnt in the car. We sent a video to indie campers and they wanted us to check the oil levels which we did. After some messages they said it would be fine to drive and they didn’t see a problem as the car was operating fine. We did not feel safe driving so we found the closest repair shop that was open. They did a diagnostic on the car and could hear something was wrong but could not identify the problem because it was too late on Saturday to figure it out, also the van could not fit in their garage. They told us that the car was not safe to drive. So we stayed in the parking lot for the night. From 9 pm until 1am we were waiting for an update and some action from the road assistance but they had no information for us. In the morning, we called another repair shop but they said that on Sunday there would be no possibility to fix it anywhere. We contacted indie campers again and again and they finally agreed to tow the car and call us a taxi. We have gone through too much with the troubles of not one but two vans. With slow and mostly unhelpful responses from the road assistance. This ruined our holiday to the maximum, there were no moments we could truly enjoy without troubles. After being in Portugal for 4 months, we have to end the trip with this kind of memory. We have wasted so much time, energy and money on this trip.

    Best Experience my wife and and I have had. Rented the California van for 8 nights, drove south, couldn’t ask for a better road trip, better van and better customer service. Hugo is a champ, gave us a 20 minute tour of the van where he explained everything and made sure we prepared, recommended us places to drive, and grocery stores to to stop along the way. Overall I would give this place 10/10, and would definitely do it again.

    Everything was great! The customer Service in Portugal took care of my problem with the website on the phone and helped me complete the booking/check-in. I had a VW California, it was only a few weeks old and had a great interior. Had a really nice trip trough Portugal with it. The airport shuttle, receiving and dropping off the van at the depot in Lisbon worked fine as well, the guys there were great. Obrigada :)

    DO NOT RENT FROM HERE Bad servicing. Car had low ad blue level 30 mins after picking it up. Unserviceable vehicle. Terrible return process. Staff charged me €200 euros for a window shade when I had premium cover. they gave me an unserviceable vehicle with low level as blue. No ability to renegotiate any terms . Terrible customer service - stay away from them

    Awesome check out process. They even picked us from the airport. Lots of tips for going around the country and finding campsites. The van worked perfectly! We had a friggin blast! When bringing the van back it was a smooth check in process and even gave us a ride to the metro. We rented in Barcelona and dropped off in Lisbon. We drove over 3000km and not one problem! We had a question on the ride and they answered within mins in a chat option on their website. Awesome group with an awesome group of vans! Thanks a bunch guys!

    We rented a VW Coast/California for a week (7 days) from Lisboa, and had a great experience. The van was immaculate and nearly new, and everything worked seamlessly. The staff were helpful both in person (Bia and Nuno) and online when we had questions by chat. We took good care of the van and have had no issues (thus far) with our deposit as some others have had. We very much enjoyed our off the beaten path travels in this van, which is compact, modern, well equipped and easy to drive. My only feedback would be that it would be nice to have more in the added kits (cleaning supplies like paper towels and a dustpan, as well as basic cooking supplies like olive oil, salt and pepper), as they would be easy to provide and help a lot with added convenience for minimalist travelers. The bedding was adequate, as was the kitchen kit. The online tutorials were helpful but it would also be nice to have someone familiar with the van do an initial tour of the features to help to acquaint us further.

    Everything was as expected. Nice staff that showed us the van and it's features. The camper vas functional and had everything we needed although quite an older model with some broken things such as key to automatically open the door, duct taped seat, broken head rest on the passenger chair. Nothing that would affect the quality of our trip. The only thing what was really bothering us was the mattress of the bed. It was very uncomfortable but luckily we could use the top bed mattress to make it more comfortable. The location of the headquarters is not in Lisbon but very close and conveniently connected by train. Would I book again? Likely, but only in low season when its more affordable.

    We want to thank Fabio for his exceptionnal service. We went to Lisboa depot on a Sunday with our Indie rented van in Marseille after we got our side window broken by an intrusion in Sintra. He has taken 2 hours of his time on lunch break to get if perfectly fixed leaving us with a safe van for the rest of our trip in Portugal and Spain. He gave us the name of a nice local restaurant during the fix. Thumbs up !

    Picking-up: I waited for 1 hour and half, it was quite disorganized, the people waiting are the ones managing the order of who’s first. António that dealt with the whole thing when we were, super nice guy, super helpful. The van: The van experience is fun but unfortunately there were too many issues that made it feel like a chore. It was a shame that the van doesn’t bring a cloth, broom nor a shovel, it would have helped to maintain the van clean. A shame that it didn’t brought the supports for two beds since the van lacks storage, and maybe putting the other bed together would have given more storage. Something that was by far the most annoying thing was recharging the van. I spent 3+3 hours charging and in every single time it show as fully charge to only 1 hour later to show as almost empty. Spent the last 2 days without fridge, and was never told about this. Reached out to the qrcode customer support but it was utterly useless in helping on this matter. It’s annoying that EVERY single thing is paid, and it’s pricey af. If you use the gas, you have to buy another gas bottle before delivering the van. Want to sleep decently, buy the bed sheets, like, you think you’ll go on vacation you end up having to worry about stuff that just should be included. Even the adblue I was ask to put on the van. Delivery: I was asked to clean the van or pay an extra fee, but I had no tools to clean the van, so that felt like another way for them to take your money. Gladly, António and Rui, were super helpful and nice, and I was able to do a bit of cleaning when provided with the cleaning tools, so no cleaning fee. Overall, regarding the service, it wasn’t impressive. The whole thing feels a bit too greedy, the hidden fees, the extras that feel that should come with the basic package, the need to buy gas if you use a can, the big energy dependency that apparently is charged by driving and it was never explained or referred from the team nor the van videos, there were too many things that didn’t make this just some good holidays and that brought some worry to the trip. I don’t think I’ll be repeating the experience with Indie Campers. Let’s see how other experiences go. Have a good one.

    We rented a VW California for 11 nights - very good experience overall despite a long waiting time at pick up and couple of elements from the van not thoroughly checked by the team before departure (one small part to close the roof missing and tyres not pumped). The depot is very accessible by Uber from the airport.

    My sister and I rented the Nomad campervan (Fiat Ducato L4H2) for 4-day trip around Portugal, starting and ending at the Lisbon depot. We throughly enjoyed every second of our experience in the campervan and had a great feeling with the teams on-site. The campervan was practically new when we got it, we slept like babies every night in our own little bunks with our own charging ports and personal storage space, and enjoyed getting acquainted with the rest of the space in the van as time went on. We were constantly pleasantly surprised by well thought-out features in the van - the pull-out shades on each window to block out light in the morning, the pull-up table in the kitchen for added countertop space when cooking, the double-decker beds that could sleep 4+ with a pull-out ladder for easy access on the top bunk, the shower and toilet with its clever layout and elegant lighting, Bluetooth radio to jam/listen to podcasts while on the road… the van was also very good on fuel, doing around 800km on a single tank, and this with a perfectly reasonably-powered engine which never struggled at higher speeds or up hills. The list could go on but it’s also worth mentioning that I personally thought the van was very good-looking…!! The Indie Camper paint livery makes for a very tasteful exterior and the newly face-lifted Ducatos/Boxers/Jumpers with modern lighting systems look great. The van conversion done by Weinsberg beyond serving all of our needs during the trip also is modern and looks/feels of very high quality. A last very important aspect of our overall experience with Indie Campers is the quality of the staff on-site - Nuno was very helpful and made us laugh as he took the time to explain everything we needed to know before leaving, and Antonio was very friendly and accommodating upon returning the van - which was honestly a bit sad after 4 splendid days in the road discovering beautiful Portugal…!! I would highly recommend Indie Campers to anyone travelling to Portugal or any of the other countries Indie Campers operates in as the experience is top-notch and in my opinion this is truly the best way to travel !!

    We used Indie Campers for our trip to Portugal (we are from the U.S.). We had the kindest staff at both check-in and check-out. They gave us some tips on where to go or not go with the van and were overall incredibly friendly. Answered any questions we had about the vehicle, fees, etc. They were open about the deposit that was held on our CC during our rental period and refunded it immediately upon check-in. We had no problems with our van during our 6 days of use. We rented the Nomad. Would definitely use this company again!

    Rented a van with full insurance, I had my glass broken and my bags stolen in Costa De Caparica and I add to pay 120e for the window because it was not covered. It was an old van and the handle came off by opening the door and had to pay other extra 199e for the repair. Be carefull to check everything by yourself when they deliver you the van.

    WOW! Great guys there. We had an appointment at 3pm today. Just wanted to park our camper there at 12 for safety reasons before the regular appointment and immediately we got a service. We had big issues with our car. Came back three times within of that day and they found solutions which made us happy. They are super friendly and very patient. Top! Much better than the support via email and phone. Thanks a lot!

    We had a great experience! Super smooth checkin/out, great value for money - friendly staff. The only thing I find unfair for me as a customer is the regulation with the tank filling. It should be at least half a tank (better a full one) at delivery of the van available and not as with us 1/8. This makes it difficult to return the tank with the same quantity. Nevertheless very recommendable - we will definitely come back!
