I visited this museum last month. All safety measures in place, its free ( no cost)to go and look around. The staff were very friendly and polite, they also seemed to know a lot about the museum. Takes about 90 minutes to look around, plenty of interaction for adults and children. Was a very enjoyable visit. Would i recommend.... yes, would i recommend... 100% yes

A very interesting museum about the beginnings of Aberdeen and the port. Covers the fishing, ship building and oil industries in the area and has interactive displays. Lots of stairs but there are lifts as well which is good. Cafe was closed when we went but not sure if that was because of hours or Covid restrictions. Worth a visit.

What a fun and informative visit! Haven’t been in years, but it was well worth going. A fab morning for adults and children alike, with some great interactive activities to do. The history of Aberdeen was fascinating!

Great place, on more floors than I first assumed. Lots of info on current diving, oil and gas as well as a good display regarding trawlers, which I was particularly interested in. Covid practices in place and good to see something open during the pandemic too. Free entry and parking close by in NCP although it was a bit expensive for a few hours. View of the harbour was great.

It was a knowledgeable and informative experience. It shows you the greatest history of the Aberdeen oil and ship industry. One should visit this place if you are new to this town. Also, it's free of cost but you can donate.

Excellent museum. I learned a lot about oil extraction and life on oil rigs. The maritime history of Aberdeen was also very well presented. Definitely worth a visit.

The key attraction at the museum is the scale model of the oil and gas drilling platform that rises up 5 stories inside the museum, I suspect the museum was built around the drilling platform, which was a Canadian investment in the North Sea. Many fields are still productive but the industry focus is on decommissioning inactive fields, this is now an increasing task as many rigs date from the 70s and 80s. There is a Trent Alpha 3D film hosted by actual workers but it's not interesting and the sound quality is poor with images disturbed by flashing lights set in the ceiling overhead. Personally I would have enjoyed more information on the great benefits the UK earned from the North Sea investment. It is after all a major success story for us all.

Amazing museum, it's a lot bigger and more interesting than you might expect, very well presented. Covers history of shipping, fishing, oil and gas industry and environmental issues. Some great exhibits and wonderful social history photographs. Great views of the harbour from here too. There's enough to keep the little ones interested too. It's free, what have you got to lose??

At the moment there is no cafe or shop. Hopefully that will change soon as things get back to normal. There are some terrific exhibits but the buildings themselves are wonderful and the views from the top floor are unbeatable. There is also a gallery devoted to temporary exhibitions and when I was there it had photographs from Ukraine which was quite poignant. A great venue and free!

For a free museum this was excellent! It is well worth a visit. It does a wonderful job discussing the history of the Aberdeen port/city. There are many wonderful models of ships and old paintings of ships. I definitely believe that this is something anyone visiting Aberdeen should make time for.

The Museum has a rich history of ship making in Aberdeen, evolution of subsea technologies, discovery of oil and gas in the North Sea, and many more. Everything in one place. And, did I mention that you also get some nice views of Aberdeen Harbour from the Museum?

Very interesting museum. You should consider if you are interested in Aberdeens history in relation to oil and gas, ships, or fishing. Well kept, organized, and clean. I would definitely go back.

My time at the Aberdeen Maritime Museum was really fun and enlightening. It's fascinating the structure of the place, the models at the museum, and what you can actually learn there. History is brought to life over there.

A must when you visit Aberdeen. Coming from oil and gas industry background, I enjoy visiting this free museum. The most fascinating is the scale model of real platform that stands across 5 stories. There are also a bit of history around ports, fishing, ship building and oil/gas industries.

There will be no need to get tickets as it's a free entry with usually no queue. It's definitely worth visiting to see how Aberdeen has helped with the many of the wars the UK has been within.

Plenty of exhibits with information, free to enter, looking at everything took a couple hours across 4 or 5 floors. A lot of Aberdeen specific history and artifacts. Definitely worth dropping by. So far both times we have been, the Cafe was closed but was nice to sit and relax. Great place to spend the afternoon with family. There were a lot of model ships so I recommend to anyone who is a model ship enthusiast even if they don't like history.

Fascinating Museum, full of interesting displays and artifacts. With the added bonus of a birds eye view over the harbour and the North link ferry terminal which links Aberdeen to Orkney and the Shetland islands.

A lovely free museum to visit, either with friends, family, or on your own (a donation is recommended!) Although there’s currently neither a cafΓ© nor a gift shop to throw your money at, the exhibitions are expansive, and even include, to my surprise, pieces on Thomas Blake Glover. I’m hoping that this museum survives the current economic downfall, as we really need places like this to be open and accessible.

The museum is very good. And the fact my Grandfather has an exhibit in there is even better. And the history right up to now is great too.

Great trip out, the 3 of us enjoyed it. I understand why the cafe is not open at present but it was shame. Really interesting day out.

Interesting museum that shares information on the local history and the offshore oil rigging industry. The museum is nicely laid out and free to explore (donations appreciated), Good introduction to Aberdeen and the area.

Personally I didn't enjoy it however this was because I had assumed it would have many more exhibits relating to the north east of Scotlands fishing industry and culture. Just not what I was looking for. It has several worthwhile exhibits relating to the oil/energy sector. If you are interested in those then it would be worthwhile.

Great selection of exhibits, with some impressive models throughout. Free entry too!

The staff on reception were extremely welcoming and informative. Sadly, I didn't have two long to experience everything in this museum. So I did get around it very quickly and sadly could not see everything I wanted to see. I really enjoyed my time there and saw some interesting things at this Martime Museum. If I am ever in Aberdeen again, I will be making more time so I can return and stay for a little longer.

Had great time here. The exhibits were interesting and beautiful taken care of. There are no payment or entrance fees required but small donations can be made. Would highly recommend to visit here if you're in Aberdeen and loves ships and vessels.

This was was an unexpected visit, as we needed to fill some time before checking out of our (Hotel Ibis) just across the street. So after some breakfast, we walked over. Very convenient location, and so worth our time, (and yours). 3 floors of wonderful exhibits, historical artifacts, way cool full size diving exhibits, artwork, and educational videos. So glad we made it in here!

It’s just incredible!!! A lot of cool and useful information about offshore oil platform. Working in oil and gas industry, I was still impressed. And many interactive objects. Surprisingly, no admission fee. Place #1 worth visiting in the town.
