Oliver Bonas is amazing for gifts! This was my first time in this location and I instantly felt like I was being followed and watched by a member of staff. If I wasn’t already a fan of the shop I would have walked out. That being said, the member of staff who helped me at the till (receipt said the name was Orasa) was so lovely and welcoming that I left the shop very happy. Shame about the staff who have been instructed to watch customers around the shop.

Lots and lots of ideas for a gift, reasonable prices for the quality of the goods sold

Every occasion I go in to window shop or look for gifts member or two of staff stands post at the entrance. It is obvious it is to prevent shoplifting, but it creates an obnoxiously negative energy while being at the store. They don't greet you or smile it is like they just watch you and it makes me want to leave and unwelcome. Be creative when it comes to preventing theft. Maybe don't display items at front of shop ? Maybe smile and give some customer service if you're going to stare every customer down. Very unpleasant.

I am visiting from Edinburgh and popped into this store today, and was appalled at how uncomfortable the staff made me feel. The staff made it very obvious that they were watching my every move and it just made me feel like leaving - so I did! I’m not sure if shoplifting is a real issue in Aberdeen but regardless, this is extremely off-putting for paying customers and I imagine this approach results in the store losing out on sales. This is not the kind of service I expect from Oliver Bonas. I certainly wouldn’t be made to feel this way in the Edinburgh store - the staff in the Edinburgh store couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming! Aberdeen staff need to take a leaf out of their book :)

Lovely items, horrible atmosphere. I went in to look for a specific candle and I was 'helped' by a battle-axe with a less than friendly attitude. I was so disappointed as usually, the service here is great and the young girls are always so helpful. Pity that someone with no customer service was working that day. I've seen her in the shop before but never been unlucky enough to be approached by her. I left without buying anything.

I love this shop! Staff are friendly and it has really nice stuff - clothing, jewellery, homeware and gift items.

Lovely items on the higher price range. Interior was lovely. Staff was not too welcoming. You can get nice cards, jewelry, books, from here, furniture, china, mugs, accessories, beauty mask and etc.

Similar experience to Abbey's post below, I wonder if it's the same member of staff. I'm a regular customer at Oliver Bonas (Aberdeen branch) and the staff are usually very lovely & helpful. I had a horrible experience in there today with 1 member of staff i've not seen in the store previously and clearly requires further customer service training. I came out of the store feeling belittled & mocked. It has put me off returning to the store.

You can buy things that are just that interestingly bit different in Oliver Bonus and the quality is excellent.

Lovely shop with good selection of quality home goods as well as clothes. Staff gave us time to look round but were also very friendly and helpful. The jumper I bought was carefully wrapped in tissue paper. Even my husband liked it!

“I was still browsing while holding an item I wanted to buy and a staff member came over and in a very loud and pushy manner asked to take the item off me so that she could leave it at the till, which very much felt like an underhand way of saying that she was afraid I was going to shoplift it. This made me feel frustrated as she hadn’t asked a thing or even said hi beforehand. I felt weirdly watched and judged while in the shop.

Bought a great present (wearable) for my wife. Good prices and friendly staff. Support out small shops!
