Quite simply my best hotel experience ever. I set a really high bar for a luxury hotel as before the days of Internet reviews I'd been privileged enough to stay in some astonishing hotels in Europe and the UK. Plus having worked in the industry I can't be easily fooled. Stanbrook Abbey and the team exceeded at every turn. We have now stayed twice so can attest that the standards and service are consistent. The reception team are definitely the stars of the show. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left they were quite simply faultless in their mission to ensure our stay was exceptional and that nothing was too much trouble. Both rooms were stunning in very different ways and clean to an obsessive level. A quick note that the double shower in the first room is now the new winner in my 20 year search for the shower "that beats the one in that hotel in Europe that I've been droning on about for over 20 years". The food was exquisite (breakfast, cream teas and two separate sittings a month apart in George's Bar). Another worthy note is that the vegetarian options were varied and on a stand alone basis delicious. My steak was cooked to perfection, but the mouthful of my partners vegetarian dish showed that the menu is impressive across the board. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. That is how it's done. Please don't under estimate this hotel. The grounds are magestic, the terraces are a wonderful place to laze in the sunshine and the impressive architecture (both modern and traditional) might easily fool you into thinking that was the extent of the offerings here. However this is a fascinating location of historical note with everything from the cellars to the bell tower to explore. Stanbrook Abbey is a destination to visit in its own right. Our only complaint from the first visit was that we had to leave and that we were left wanting more as one short stay simply wasn't enough to enjoy everything on offer here. When we found out we'd unexpectedly need to return to the area the first thing we did was book in here again. I have absolutely no reservations recommending Stanbrook Abbey and if ever we're passing we'll be back. We might just come back anyway as the 6 hour round trip is more than worth it. I hold no affiliation to this hotel or the hotel group and gain nothing from this review. I simply believe this absolute jewel should be given the limelight it so clearly deserves.

My partner and I visited here for an overnight stay. From the time we arrived, we were impressed. The lady in reception was lovely and after 20 minutes of being in our room, she called to see if everything in the room was okay. The room ( a feature room) was beautiful. We booked for dinner at 7 pm and decided to go to the bar for drinks before. The barman was friendly and polite and his cocktail-making skills were fantastic, I had the cherry Bakewell (highly recommend). Dinner was amazing. My partner ordered the lemon chicken and I had the pork loin, both were beautifully cooked to perfection. For dessert, I had the black forest gateau...delicious. After dinner, we decided to take a stroll around the hotel, and boy it didn't disappoint. The architecture was breathtaking and there were some hidden gems we didn't expect. Breakfast was also lovely, we had a full English and the waiter was polite and helpful. I would also like to mention the cleaning staff. They do an amazing job of keeping the hotel to an exceptionally high standard. The owners should be very proud of everyone who works here. They all do an amazing job. I highly recommend a visit either overnight or just for dinner, whichever you decide you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to returning in the future. The only negative I have is the hideous extension which is where the bar is located. Not in keeping at all with the original building but I've been told it's from the previous owners and the new owners are looking at upgrading it. I hope the owners and the architect have some knowledge about how to do it right.

An exceptional hotel. The staff were incredible! From the reception staff to the restaurant servers. The food was excellent! Breakfast and afternoon tea were wonderful! Our room and beds were so comfortable as decorated beautifully. The hotel has been done to an extremely high standard and we were allowed to explore all the areas. I would definitely return! Thank you all for taking such good care of us. And thank you to Jack's on reception for keeping our hotel key safe after I misplaced it.

Came with my elderly mum for a night to relax and do some family history. Her mother and aunts were educated there and one became a nun. She died there in 1967 and it was so special to see her burial place. The view from the Bell Tower is also highly recommended. It was amazing to see so much of the convent preserved and cared for, and the hotel has done a brilliant job of blending the old and new. Our room was lovely - great bathroom - and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Very understanding when we locked ourselves out! We are in George's Bar and that was very nice with good quality food and friendly staff. Breakfast was exceptionally nice and cooked to order. We both had a wonderful time and would love to return at some point.

We had a lovely trip to Stanbrook Abbey. Jem was particularly helpful in showing us around. The food in the bar was great and we were very well looked after at the bar by Matt and Lewis. Matt and Georgia provided great food service and looked after our every need. The staff were so polite and friendly. Such a beautiful and interesting place. Thanks for a great trip!

Sunday lunch at the Abbey was a great experience, the staff are very attentive and friendly all ways asked if there’s anything I can do for you. The food is of a very good standard, three courses, chicken, liver, pate, starter, beautiful loin of pork, with all the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, for sweet peach crumble, beautiful. We all thought it was a very reasonable price for the meal.

There is a song about this place "Simply the best, better than all the rest". My husband and I go quite often with family and friends and we have never been disappointed. Today we were in St George's Bar and were looked after by Eddie and Rob who were helpful, friendly and really welcoming. Eddie kindly gave us a map with the history of Stanbrook Abbey. The restaurant is excellent too for Sunday lunches or evening meals for fine dining. Stanbrook Abbey itself has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere and we agree with previous comments that it is as good as any 5 star Hotel. If the world is getting to you then get away from it all in Stanbrook Abbey it is as good as any tonic. Best wishes to all the staff whether reception or on the bar and thank you for making every visit special. Lyn & Geoff from Malvern

Fantastic location and great service, bedrooms are to a very high standard and comfortable only thing missing was air conditioning as the room on the night of my stay was warm even with the windows open. Such a fascinating experience with great history, and architecture. Would highly recommend

Hi Gavin , Thank you for replying to my review on Stanbrook Abby. I will revisit your hotel and post again on my finding again when next in the area. Prior to visiting this hotel can I suggest you read the comments from other guests , from my own experience I the would agree with most of them. We have never stayed at the hotel so the comments on the rooms as an average. From my limited experience the food was very good but others disagree. Service on previous visits was satisfactory but all that was kicked into touch yesterday , such a shame. We decided to go to Stanbrook Abbey for lunch but could we suggest at the very least the management have a chat to the two barmen on duty. We were in no hurry but the two barmen were not privileged to that information. They did not even acknowledge us but when you see other potential customers having coffee ordered for them in preference to us that takes biscuit for us. One of the bar men delivered an order to a adjacent table and glared at me and walked away. If that customer service level is regarded as satisfactory by the hotel management words fail me. Stanbrook Abbey need to decide are they looking for repeat business or a single visit customer !

Went for a do, beautiful place with a great atmosphere. So did not see the bedrooms. The food was okay but as we were the last table in venue there was obviously veg running out by the time they got to us. .. so a bit sparse. I'm guessing under estimated. The only criticism.

We can not thank Stanbrook Abbey enough. Liza and Iris were absolutely fantastic from our very first meeting right up until the big day! They serviced our every need and went above and beyond to cater for ourselves and our guests. The venue had the WOW factor and all of the staff were phenomenal. A truly magical day made even better by the truly magical team at Stanbrook Abbey. If we could review with more stars we absolutely would. Thank you
