I
started
going
to
the
gym
at
seven
years
of
age.
I
first
started
to
learn
ju
jitsu
and
then
progressed
to
a
boxing
gym
at
nine.
I
learned
how
to
use
weights
to
a
certain
extent
and
I
joined
Pendle
Health
Club
at
14
as
a
junior.
I
started
training
in
Thai
boxing
around
the
same
time
and
I
subsequently
went
to
train
with
Master
Sken
then
Master
Chana.
I
also
trsined
in
Berlin,
Amsterdam
and
Thailand.
I
purchased
my
own
gym
at
19
and
only
due
to
health
reasons
I
gave
it
up
five
years
ago.
In
my
time
I
gained
numerous
qualifications,
represented
my
country,
became
the
British
lightweight
champion
as
a
professional
and
trained
14
British,
European
and
World
champions.
The
reason
I've
written
all
this
is
not
in
anyway
to
'big
myself
up',
but
because
I
really
wanted
to
legitimise
what
I
am
going
to
write
next.
As
you
can
see.
I
have
trained
all
my
life.
I've
been
lucky
to
have
trained
with
world
class
athletes
and
been
taught
by
world
class
trainers.
I
had
to
have
five
years
off
as
I
was
diagnosed
with
heart
failure.
I
am
now
stable
and
I
am
on
medication.
I
got
fat,
unhealthy
and
very
unfit
as
I
couldn't
train
and
I
comfort
ate.
I
was
really
nervous
about
joining
CrossFit.
I
knew
everybody
would
be
much
younger,
stronger,
healthier,
fitter
and
in
much
better
shape.
Walking
through
the
door
the
first
day
was
like
walking
into
a
boxing
ring
for
the
first
time.
My
mouth
was
dry
and
I
was
slightly
nauseous.
Within
30
seconds
I
was
welcomed
and
made
to
feel
at
ease
though.
I
was
one
of
about
10
new
starters
and
there
were
about
8
coaches.
They
immediately
introduced
themselves
and
they
went
through
the
various
techniques
systematically
and
precisely.
Although
I'd
trained
for
years,
I'd
never
done
Olympic
lifting
and
my
technique
was
awful.
From
those
first
moments
though,
I
was
shown
what
to
do
and
how
to
do
it.
Every
movement
was
broken
down
and
I
left
the
session
feeling
confident
and
that
I'd
already
started
to
learn
new
skills.
Since
I
started
my
technique
has
improved
with
each
visit.
There's
many
exercises
I
can't
do
yet
as
my
fitness
levels
are
still
way
off
what
I'd
like
them
to
be.
The
coaches
just
alter
things
for
you
though
to
make
sure
you
can
still
be
fully
involved
without
the
fear
of
looking
silly
as
you're
not
quite
ready
to
do
the
full
techniques.
I
cannot
emphasise
enough
how
professional
and
knowledgeable
these
coaches
are
and
the
time
they
spend
with
you
is
absolutely
outstanding.
I
cannot
recommend
CrossFit
enough.
No
matter
if
you're
a
highly
trained
athlete
(I
was
one)
or
you
are
starting
from
scratch,
unfit,
overweight
or
lack
in
confidence
(that
was
me)
then
CrossFit
is
for
you.
Is
it
hard?
Yes!
Will
you
benefit?
Absolutely!
Paul.
