Well to say that a lot of time was had to stage a new opening to the masses so as far as I’m concerned all should have run like clockwork enticing customers to come back for great food and drink but; # To wait for over 20 minutes for a beer is shocking ! # No menu presented ? # Waiter staff had no clue what they were doing ! # Planning by management ? # Fish and chips ok, lacked taste/seasoning and a tad oily # The captive audience is here, please them ! # Chairs lay broken to the floor, umbrellas lay upside or just collapsed and lay on the floor fir a tripping hazard # Hire runners to collect dirty plates and glasses-let waiters wait only # A nice fire pit or two to sit around would have been good ! # A mobile bar outside would be good to reduce waiter runs and fill orders quicker # Serviettes? # Cutlery, sauces should be at the table before the food What a million pound site that could make millions but lacks the mechanics to steer it in the right direction. What a waste of money for a poor 1st beer out !

Last minute visit to the Whittaker’s Arms for tea. The service was bob on, being both quick and attentive. I ordered the Stack Burger and the beef patty was cooked to perfection. The fries hot and crispy. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area 👍🏻

We visited for a meal with family on Sunday at noon and it was fantastic, the food was delicious, the service was fabulous and great prices. We will definitely be back to try the Sunday Lunch!

We came here for a Father's Day lunch after seeing the great recent reviews and we weren't disappointed! It's had a great renovation since we last visited, both the lamb shank and chicken salad were really nice, and they have a great vegetarian selection too which is always nice to see on a pub menu. Attentive staff who seem anxious to make sure everyone has a nice time, I'd recommend everyone give it a go :)

Friendly staff, food was fantastic. More pictures needed to provide evidence. I ate braised beef, was presented like restaurant style. For pudding had sticky toffee pudding, which I highly recommend. Shall return for defendant in the future

Great food, reasonably priced. Eaten here several times. Sunday lunch today was excellent, the best mash I have ever tasted.

We went for a meal on a Wednesday evening during half term. The service was very professional and friendly. The food portions were bigger than expected and at great value, not to mention just how perfectly cooked and presented the food was. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a nice meal in a great place.

Really enjoy coming in this pub. Turned it around and enjoy spending my time in here with the lads. Tried the food a couple of times and can’t fault it. Highly recommend

Visited twice now, both times the service and food have been great. It's such good value for money and the portions are large. Piping hot food (which I am a stickler for), lovely cold beers and cocktails. See you again very soon. Thank you L and J.

Great to have food back on at the Whitaker’s. Had the Chinese chicken curry and it was lovely. Service was with a smile a prompt. We will be trying more of the great looking dishes on the menu over the next few weeks (diet permitting🙂) value is excellent too. Now to tick into my Belgian waffle 😋

Been before, and really good. It’s gone way down now, it wasn’t busy, ordered food and waited more than an hour, another couple walked out because the they didn’t get they food, and so did me and my daughter. Don’t take food orders if the kitchen is closed, I think it was shut because the chef was sat at the table on laptop with the other girl. The only one working was the young girl behind bar who was really nice and apologetic. Couldn’t tell what the food was like, got bored of waiting for over an hour for a simple fish and chips Poor service,

Absolutely fantastic food that's good quality and fresh. You won't go home hungry either! The pub was very clean and well kept with top service from the staff. Id highly reccomend a visit if you haven't before. I'll be returning again in future!

Wasn't our best experience here sadly, kitchen was closed due to no chef, had vodka and diet coke but the coke was flat so switched to bottled tonic. Use to come here regularly. Hopefully when kitchen is back up and running ( on 8/8/21, I was told ) then we can try here again and hopefully leave a better review.

Went here with family for Sunday dinner. Good food menu with plenty to choose from. Has children's menu for smaller portions. Beer was good. Food was excellent. Pool table and cosy real fire. Plenty of free parking. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Iv just put 4 as not booked in till sept for funeral lunch so can't comment at moment but will do later but the lads that were there were very helpful and pleasant

I visited with my family recently, we had a fantastic time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was delicious. There were 20 of us in total, the service we received from start to finish was excellent. The food came out on time, it was hot, tasty and the portion size was generous. The menu offers a large selection of food choices at reasonable prices. We all had starters, mains and desserts which did not disappoint. We can't wait to visit again. 😊

Outside area for Covid - safeness well set up with tables far apart plus a marquee for when the weather is rotten. Staff friendly and helpful.

Very warm and welcoming, great home made chicken pie. Good for family meals, reasonable prices. Would recommend highly. Dog friendly too. Good parking and easy wheelchair access.

Called in after burying my mums ashes.we all chose fish & chips & they were excellent.enjoyed the rum & raisin stout.went down nicely.will definitely be popping in again and I will be recommending to family and friends

Massive dogs inside, no real eating tables just a few sofas here and there and a bar and after asking for help finding the tables because id never been before i was told to leave. So i did. EDIT. in response to the owners reply. As part of the rules of becoming a local guide I have to be fair and honest in my reviews. Myself and the accompanying person I came with today all agree on this very honest review. Perhaps an off day but it was my only experience.

Visited this place by recommendation, very surprised how good the food was, the sharing platter and pizza was especially good, a good price too, the only negative thing I would say is the place just needs a update , nothing as changed in the last 10-12:years inside, but the food was great.

Just had the roast beef, in a word, fantastic. Large portion of quality food cooked very well. Went as a table for six, all meals came out at the same time piping hot. Give it a visit, you will not be dissapointed.

Booked a buffet for a funeral, they asked for a deposit of £50, fair enough. But when we paid, was told it's not a deposit, but payment to reserve room. so didn't get taken of the bill. Slow to serve buffet, half of our guests had already left. Food was tasty, but not enough, if everyone had stayed. Only one person serving behind bar, so a long wait for drinks.

Arrived by word of mouth recommendation, very pleased we tried it a great menu and the food was spot on, the interior seems to had an update , it was a nice place to dine, will return again. Good selection of beers too.

We had never been here before and just wanted a snack. The club sandwiches were excellent. The young lady behind the bar was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Good pint too. We will be back!

So we entered this restaurant ordered food spent over £60 for the food to come out cold and undercooked and burnt, we didn't receive some of the items ordered which was requested when ordering, the cheese pie was absolutely rock solid and it was like I kids sized slice of pizza the food was definitely frozen, the burger was over cooked and seemed to have been cooked in oil that's been sat there for months and not changed, the steak that was ordered was undercooked pure fat and the customer service was absolutely shocking and we waited about 45 mins for our starters! but a massive credit to the lady who was serving the food she looked run down and exhausted! The worst thing is that the young lady behind the bar said she apologises and that the head chef wasn't in today so they (had to get another manager who was NOT a qualified chef to COOK the customers food!!) There was a couple sat behind us and they over heard me complaining and also said that there food was horrific and that they will not be returning. Its the worst food I've EVER had in my life! I'm surprised your still open. 1000% will NOT EVER be returning!! I've worked in the food business for years as I've been a food critic. If I was a personal critic visiting I'd of had this restaurant shut down I dread to think what the kitchen looks like!! 0/10 get it sorted out or realise that your running low financially and poor management and shut down! Reports have been made to environmental health.
