Lots of main chain stores like Next, River Island, Poundland, Boots, Primark, Gregg's etc and a covered market with e cig and shisha shops, food and stalls selling nick nacks. For a small town it's not a bad town centre!

A lovely shopping centre with plenty of shops and mostly covered from the elements. Good deals to be had here. Sad to see though that some areas are not leased atm hard times for shops.

Sadly, not worth the visit despite improvements over the years and a major upgrade of St James’ Street. Charter Walk, is now thankfully cleaner and smarter but the shops are the same as to be found in any other town. Dismal. Better shopping and environment to be found on the recently repaved St James’ Street. Smaller and more unusual or interesting retailers are few and far between in Charter Walk. Perhaps they tend to be priced out? It’s also difficult to park with a very small, poorly-designed underground car park. Every now and again, I will go into town to see what’s new. The answer? Not much for the better in Charter Walk. The market hall is a sad travesty of the days when there were three or four butchers, four greengrocers, Redman’s and Hartley’s cooked meats, etc., not to mention a vibrant outside market (where did all those stall holders go?). Now the market hall is trying to rebrand as a street food market. Destined to fail IMHO. The town is desperate for an unique identity. That’s not Charter Walk, designed in the concrete-jungle Sixties.

Very nice extra stop over due to a vehicle mis- malfunctioning. If time came I could vist again for longer i would. As was a unplanned extra stop I even put work lotto syndicate. PLEASE NOTE ~ The van in photo (s) was not the vehicle that broke down it was the vehicle that came to fix the mis-malfunctioned. As said very nice town and if chance came would visit again.

There are great shops in this open air shopping mall, but there are not enough shops to go shopping and needs more visual improvements to the town centre and jobs as well. To add to this I would like to see more investment in to youths in the town centre something for them to do, like a jungle Jim, youth club, food places or world food restaurants something that brings the community together regardless of someone's background.

Fairly standard town center shopping area. It was busy on my visit, due to the monthly Artisan Food and Crafts Market. There was a clear presence of security personnel and there was no sign of any trouble or objectionable behavior by any other groups.

Largely under cover so a good place to shop if the weather is wet! Lots of variety.

Its OK. A few more empty shops and seems to be saturated with coffee shops, bookmakers and gambling shops. At least there are still some recognised names such as M and S, Next, Primark, River Island, Boots, Superdrug. Home Bargains has cut back a lot of stock because of the large store on the outskirts of the town centre. Not really helpful for those without cars.

Has a lot of variety of shops, lots of car parking. Most of it is pedestrianised, which is good when you've got a buggy and kids. All of the shops seem very well stocked and you can pretty much get whatever you want there. Car park was pretty cheap, we paid £1 and were there for a while. There's a few dodgy people about, but there was also a police presence, so it didn't feel as bad as walking around the precinct in Salford.

Like other shopping precincts, stores have been lost but Charter walk is still, however, a pleasant place to walk through, being bright and airy, and still having a good choice of stores. There is a pigeon problem though, no doubt due to people feeding them while sitting outside takeaway food shops. Plenty of coffee shops to choose from - my favourite being Rhode Island across from Charter walk. The indoor Market still operates with a lift up from Charter Walk. Worth a visit.

If your wanting food this is the place to go. Although you still have some stall holders, all friendly and helpful.

Same as any shopping precinct. Too many phone shops, card shops, charity shops, coffee shops. Not enough individual shops. Market is awful . No veg , no cheese, No choice of cooked meats. There was a butcher. Mostly places to eat. Thank goodness there's still Marks and Spencer

Quite grim compared to previous visit's, during earlier in the week, did arrive via Sunday bus. Nice to see a development in what used to be the Co-OP car park, bent to primark.

My local shopping centre, lots of people milling about, the weather was gorgeous. Didnt do any shopping was just walking through. Clean and tidy though

It's my first time coming here. Cozy, clean and everything within reach, even during bad weather. The downside for me is the opening hours. Haven't had a chance to see everything yet and 5:30pm is early to close. Maybe open an hour later in the morning and keep it open an hour longer in the evening.

Some great chain stores and independent shops, plenty of places to eat & drink. Shopping areas are always clean. Food Hall and balcony shops too, there's plenty to see. A great small town to shop in.

Good selection of shops and the recent work in the town centre makes a huge difference. Had no issues parking

Just walking through you can tell every effort is being made to keep things looking good. No overflowing bins, no rubbish blowing around, flower displays are well maintained and watered and that's without mentioning the shops. The majority of tastes and needs are catered for and it makes a nice change to see shops open and not rows of empty units.

Loads of different types of shops. Decent variations unlike other towns. Clean and tidy too and has an indoor market as well.

Too many coffee shops and gambling stores. Not enough proper town center shops. Lack of parking available only very short term. If you love coffee and gambling come down.

  • 3/5 SUZANNE F. 1 year ago on Google
Basic town centre, has what you need for day to day but more discrete products or items not easy to source at Charter Walk. Love the new coffee shops and the food market, great addition to the town.

On the Settle Carlisle line, beautiful original station kept in lovely condition mainly by volunteers of the Settle Carlisle line, if you are visiting Settle take a look.

  • 5/5 Tom M. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty average town centre shopping experience. Most of the usual high street stores. Couple of decent cafes. Center frequently plagued with kids on bikes and kids throwing caps but security try their best. Fairly tidy most of the time.

Marks and Spencers sell great food, but not much variation of other shops. Lots of fast food establishments and good selection of mobile phone shops, but not many clothes shops.
