Cosy restaurant, perfect for a date or special occasion. Delicious food, great wines, friendly staff. Well, it's a bit pricey but there are good offers (e. g. Weekdays and Sunday lunch). Highly recommended.

First ever visit. A lovely place inside and menu very varied and different. Nice and refreshing to have a menu with such a variety of dishes. The food was really nice and tasty and the service was good too. Only niggle was length of time we had to wait for mains. Only 3 of us and most annoying was three other tables sat at least half hour after our starters were finished got their mains before us. A bug bear of mine that I'm afraid. Not spoilt the experience enough not to go back, so next visit just hope the mains come a little quicker.

Staff members in this place are racist and rude. Management supports this behaviour because when I complained about it he didn’t seem too bothered about it. Looks like this is a regular behaviour. We booked a table for special event 2 months in advance and we were told we will have the private area by the door but when one of our friend turned up to decorate the place they asked her to move to end of the restaurant. When she asked why we don’t have the area we reserved staff couldn’t give a reason. Staff members were mumbling and making snarky comments. Which made us feel very uncomfortable. Later on when rest of our family and friends arrived we noticed we weren’t getting same service as rest of the people there. We constantly had to ask waiters to come over and take food and drink orders where as to other tables there were more attentive. They kept getting all orders wrong and kids were left starving for up to an hour. When I went to the bar to ask for some water bartender slammed the jug in front of me and made a comment that who am I to ask him for water. When I reported this behaviour to the manager he didn’t seem too bothered by it. We were the only people of colour in the restaurant. This is the worst service I have ever received in any restaurant. I wouldn’t advise anyone who isn’t white to visit this place.

Absolutely delicious food! Edited to say: There were 6 of us. We booked to eat at 10pm. One of us had a special request. Notwithstanding, everything was excellent. The food was stunning. Ordinarily we would have booked at the Clogg and Billycock but they don't serve as late as we needed (after concert). I'm so glad the Ego could accommodate. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone! Thank you!

We went on a quiet night as it was for a birthday. As there was a lot of us we were asked to pre-order, which was fine, but then the starters came out sporadically and one was requested 3 times. The servers were really lovely, but you'd expect better with pre-ordered food. Mains were much the same, a well done steak came out medium at best and a medium/rare was almost blue. Again, servers were keen to help and get it right, but you'd expect better. All in all, food was fine but not great. Staff were lovely and service was good, but for the number of staff we would have expected everything out at once and correct first time.

Seven of our Family and Friends had a wonderful meal at the Knowles Arms this afternoon, what a real treat the experience has been. The two Waitresses were extremely kind, professional and respectful towards us all and they could not do enough for us. The food we ordered was of Michelin starred quality and the Chef is obviously a very talented individual who takes enormous pride in his/her craft. Food prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is just right, please support this wonderful gem visit for a truly unique experience.

Great Family Reunion outing June 2023 I wish to personally thank the Knowles Arms for being able to accommodate us after a disastrous start to our evening elsewhere. We arrived late ish but they welcomed us with open arms and made us feel welcome. We ordered our meals which everyone enjoyed and my Spaghetti Carbonara was amazing.. we actually had a previous gathering a few years ago before covid and it was great then too.. The staff were amazing and so very helpful. We couldn't have asked for any better.

Cannot fault this place. The staff where plenty busy but very attentive to everyone. Excellent food choice ok the lunch menu which was swift and tasted brilliant. Very competitive prices as well. Beautifully done out inside and out.

3rd Ego we have tried after two really good meals at other sites. Excellent menu and service. Food was quality and very nicely presented. Some good vegetarian options too. Great cocktails and a nice coffee and dessert option too. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I and now our daughter come here often. Can always count on the food and service. I signed up to be a member a few years ago and they send you great deals by email. Including ones for your birthday and anniversaries. Fantastic value. We went yesterday for my birthday and got a free starter, main and dessert. I got 2 cocktails for £12 too. I had the salmon fishcakes and salmon main. Both amazing and my 13 month old liked it too! Would recommend.

Have been to Ego twice now whilst visiting family. The choice of food and drink is very good. Cocktails and drinks range is plentiful and I love that there is a very good selection of 0% alcohol drinks - as a non drinker that likes to feel they are having something grown up rather than a soft drink this is a very welcome change from most places. Staff have always been very attentive and welcoming, looking after us each time. We'll done Ego. Nice balance of good food and well trained friendly staff.

Went for our anniversary dinner and I was quite disappointed with the food. Paid quite a lot for not very much. The steak was small to say the least, only one small mushroom and the rest of the plate seemed to be taken up by rocket which is just a cop out really. I’m a fan of quality over quantity but this was definitely not quality and just to reiterate it was ONE tiny mushroom. Nice place and friendly staff but seriously I’ve had better quality and much more quantity for a let less. We won’t go again and I have advised others against it too

Came across this restaurant whilst on Google. Menu looked different so though I would give it a try. Went for lunch on a Thursday arriving around 1.45pm. Very large car park and it looked busy. Disappointing to see only two designated disabled spaces at the front of the building. But there was a ramp with hand rails on both sides making access possible for those in a wheelchair or with mobility issues. But as the car park was so big we had no problem finding a space. 5 star hygiene sticker visible as we entered. Something I must check more often in future. Once inside we didn’t have to wait long to be greeted. We hadn’t booked. I had looked at pictures online beforehand and noticed they had the bench type seats on some tables. I asked if we could get one of those. Unfortunately none were available. Our greeter suggested we take a seat in the bar area and look at the menus, order some drinks and, if a suitable table became available, he would allocate it to us. I had already decided on what I was going to order from looking at the menus online. I ordered from the Prix Fixe menu with 3 courses costing £21.95. I ordered the Gambas Al Pil Pil for which there was a surcharge of £1.50. Followed by Salmon and Dill Fishcakes with Sicilian Lemon Tart for dessert. My brother picked from the A la Carte menu going for Pepperoni Piccantina pizza at £13.95 with a side order of fries at £3.45. I ordered a bottle of white Rioja at £22.95 and my brother a pint of Estrella at £5.85. It looks only a matter of time before it will be six quid a pint. I was annoyed to see the wine brought to the table uncorked. I told the bar person this. She did apologise but I do find this a more and more common practice and it needs addressing. If staff are not comfortable opening wine then maybe they should switch to screw top only on the wine list. It didn’t seem long before the gentleman who had greeted us came to tell us a suitable table was now available. I would like to thank him again for taking the time to sort that. I was much more comfortable on that type of seat. My king prawn starter arrived. Seven prawns in my serving so not a bad portion. Would have liked an extra piece of bread though. A nice kick to them from the chillis and lots of garlic flavour. I really enjoyed them. My fish cakes were ok. Nothing special but adequate with a decent amount of salmon in them. My brothers pizza looked a good size. When we ordered we asked what size the pizza was. They are not done on size but on the weight of the dough. Still no matter it was a good size, plenty of pepperoni on it and my brother enjoyed it. However, he wasn’t impressed with his fries. Mine were crisp and tasty. He said his were underdone. We swapped a few and had to agree. They were different in colour, taste and texture and a couple were definitely under cooked. We did mention this to one of the servers who said she would relay back to the kitchen. But it wasn’t a major issue but seemed strange how fries ordered at the same time could differ so much. My dessert was lovely but rather a small portion I thought. We also ordered coffees. Service was friendly and good humoured. However, we dealt with 5 different people during out visit if you include the bar person who served the wine. I prefer where you have the same waiter or waitress but again more places seem to be adopting the same approach that you are served by whoever is available. The venue itself was clean and well laid out. I saw no steps inside so wheelchair friendly. The music system also deserves a mention. Loud enough to hear clearly if you concentrated but not that loud that it interfered with your conversation. So overall not the cheapest of places and not the biggest of portions. At least for the set price menu in my opinion. However, I think most people would be satisfied as I do have a big appetite . And I would visit again. There is an extensive menu with a very diverse range of options. Plus having registered online with them I can claim 20% off food on my next visit there so hope to be popping back before too long.

Had my daughter's birthday celebration here, the quality of food and service was wonderful. The staff were very attentive, patient and professional and the food from their extensive menu was absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend highly enough!

First visit though we have been planning to come for ages. Lovely calm atmosphere, staff were on point menu selection nice to see some different dishes for variety and daughter being gluten free was impressed with the wide Selection catering to her. The food was excellent quality and prices fair for what you got. Will definitely be back

Had a fabulous first visit here. Tilly and Eve were both exceptional at their role. They were always very polite and checking on us, including other staff from time to time. Kids' pizza was over seasoned, so they replaced this with no charge. They were also both good at communicating with our child, who has ASD. They were happy to give him extra popping candy on his dessert also. The establishment was also very clean and well presented.

Visited for mother's day. Staff were friendly and polite. Checking meals were OK Gents toilets were clean. Everyone enjoyed their meal my only niggle was it got a bit noisy with back ground music and noise of people chatting and moving chairs. I tend to find as I have got older the background music is now too loud for me But the food was good, and well priced.

I don't often leave reviews, however just wanted to say thank you as the service and food was excellent. We will definitely be back .

We came here to celebrate my daughters birthday with family and friends. There were 15 of us and everyone had a lovely time. Most of us pre ordered our food and for the ones who hadn't it wasn't a problem and their order was taken once we arrived. It was a Sunday so a few opted for the roast dinner deal too. The food was very nice and we were all happy. The staff were brilliant and made my daughters dessert extra special. Looking forward to coming again.

Great place and lovely food. I would definitely recommend. The young girl who served us was very friendly and polite. The garlic bread pizza is a must. I’m sad I didn’t get a photo of it.

I recently had the pleasure of booking a private function for 29 guests on January 6th. From the beginning to the end, the experience was exceptional. The waitresses were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond in assisting with decorations and serving us the delicious food we had pre-ordered. They even surprised us by presenting the birthday cake and singing along to happy birthday. It was a truly enjoyable night and we will definitely be returning for another visit. 10/10 for the service we received.

Went to the Spanish themed night last night. Amazing food. Friendly happy staff. Excellent value. Just wished they had had a bit of space to dance ...lots of people would of got up to the amazing Spanish music group. 🙂🙂🙂🙂 Thanks to all for a wonderful night x

Quite nice food. They don't seem to know how to cook a steak though as they all under cooked. One requested well done and it was served dripping blood. A simple temp probe whist cooking tells the chef how it is done. Without guesswork. Amateurs.

Been here several times when visiting. Always very polite service. Good food that requires allocated napping time in the afternoon.

Staff/waiters absolutely lovely and brilliant. Sorry i cant say the same about the food. Too many disappointing comments to make about it for here. All those in our party felt the same. Very disappointing to say the least. Really don't like it when they put the service charge on the bill automatically, makes it very uncomfortable to ask them to remove it. If people wish to tip let them but don't push it in their face. I would have tipped had they not put it on my bill, as the waiting on staff were excellent. Lovely venue, with great potential. Sorry we wont be trying it again any time soon.

Great service, all staff very attentive and friendly. Venue very clean and tidy, Food was great value and very good quality on the 3 course set menu for £18.95 pp. Will definitely be happy to make the 40mile round trip here again!!!

Very surprised by food quality. Ribeye and filet steak delicious. Cooked to perfection crusty bark and perfect temperature. Starters tried liver pate, breaded camembert and fishcake all great. Service imecable. Very attentive and polite. Most recommended

Booked a table for 10 people to celebrate a birthday. Staff and service was excellent. Nothing was any trouble. The food was superb and great value. Great variety and choice. The kids, make your own pizza was great fun for the kids.

A half decent meal. Not very impressed with the quality of food. Not consistent, food not hot, my friend's steak not cooked to her requested heat. The drinks were good, and the bar service before pur meal was good. All in all, a pretty meh meal. Unlikely to eat here again

Great staff, good food, nice choice of drinks also. Lovely atmosphere. Only issue - couple of the food items seemed expensive for what you got imo (hanging kebabs) and the place was a little hot inside but overall great place well worth a visit.

Awesome, was visiting a local relative who suggested this place. Two courses each and a bottle of wine. Each course was very tasty, calamari, lamb kofte, chicken liver pate, 2 sirloin steaks and the lamb with risotto. All was very tasty. Never have I seen cutlery washed, steamed then polished before being put away. Highly recommend this place.

Visited earlier today with a couple of friends and ordered a starter and main course. Nothing out of the ordinary - just straightforward meals from the menu. The food was tasteless and quite poor, definitely not what I expected! The staff were very nice but the overall experience did not live up to my expectations. We all agreed that the food would need to improve (a lot) in order that we book here again in the future. Currently, I would not recommend this restaurant 👎🏻

We have visited here several times and normally the service and food is fantastic. However, this evening we visited for half price steak night and it seems they cannot cope with the busyness and demand. Our steaks were both BLUE pure raw instead of rare. We waited an hour before our starters arrived. A drink was forgotten about and as our dishes were collected after the mains, we were told we would have to leave in the next 10 mins due to how long you get the table on steak night. This meant no dessert which we had initially planned. We would have had more time had the service been quicker. A complete let down. Would add that the staff themselves are very friendly and courteous as always, just a shame about the food quality and timings.

A really nice food area! The bar area is nice but it is a little cold, and it doesn't quite have the same atmosphere as the dining area. Nevertheless, it is still great food at great value. I would recommend!

We visited here at the weekend, for the first time. The starters were delicious, Creamy mushrooms and the pate. Unfortunately we were dissatisfied with our main meal which was the 10oz Rib eye steak. The steak was so thin, it was like a minute steak size with scraggy bits hanging off, and my husbands had a weird taste of fish and looked a different colour to mine. We raised our concerns with the staff who immediately said nothing can be done with the bill, you can have a replacement, even though we knew by the time they replaced it the rest of our party would have had finished their food. The replacement steaks arrived were much nicer pieces but they were ridiculously salty. Our meals were missing mushrooms and when I asked the waitress just replied they had run out and didn't even offer anything else in its place, more salad or another veg option. The starters were lovely, just a shame we were disappointed in the main meal.

Absolutely fantastic place. Only in Blackburn for daughters graduation but she's loves eating here and I can see why. Staff are very welcoming and like to have a good laugh, food was divine, the atmosphere was brilliant and the outdoor seating was very relaxing. We'll definitely be back here should we return to Blackburn. Thank you very much to everyone in Ego.
