Great staff. Took about half hour for food to come out but the steak was cooked to perfection. The carvery smelled amazing so we are coming again Sunday for that. I didn't get what I wanted to order but the alternative was fantastic. Highly recommended

Used to visit here fairly often many moons ago for food. The carvery we had the other week was brilliant - delicious, lovely and piping hot, plenty to choose from and an excellent portion - highly recommended. Unfortunately we visited more recently for a pub meal and my mixed grill was absolutely awful. The staff here are very pleasant and helpful. After cooking me another which was very much the same, I came to the conclusion the quality of ingredients wasn't very good. As mentioned, the staff are very helpful and a credit to the chain. Nothing was too much trouble and so we would be happy to visit again sometime when the chance arises.

Absolutely awful food both times we tried. My chicken was meant to be breast it wasn't and was raw along with the egg. Previous time we tried carvery meat was lovely the rest was awful

Great! Peaceful atmosphere, lovely food and quite cheap too. I'll definitely be going there again for a nice meal out. Picture is a steak kebab!

Wanted the ultimate mix grill and they said they had run out was looking foward to that. My partner got carvery only gammon on what happened to other 2 meats ? After we finished our food the plates was left and noone came to clear them, we had to ask 3 times for the kids desserts to get them took about 45mins to get the desserts and then brought them and still didnt remove the empty plates from our table, shocking service! Dont think i shall be returning in a hurry :-((

We called in for a carvery meal after driving home from a weekend away and were very disappointed. The food itself tasted ok but was like warm at best. When we mentioned this to one of the staff who came to tidy our table she said to shout one of them next time and they will heat it up, in other words, stick it in the microwave

Sausages were over cooked and like cardboard inside and the gammon was smelling off and looked it and tasted it too! Usually eat there often but won't do in future, totally disappointed with it today, manager insisted that the gammon was ok but I could smell it and I tasted it was off. To be fair the manager offered me 2 free meals and 2 free drinks for me and my son but I refused because its not about the money and getting freebies, it was about the food not being right!

Could be nice place, but poor drinks ( served in plastic pots ). And in front of restaurant was ice. At least they could tell us to bring ice skate rollers so i could approach to the car more smoothly. I think we were there for last time.

When I first lived in Burnley it was a great place. I have to say the carvery wasn't fantastic. The meat portion was ok the potatoes good the veg was awful plus everything was not hot. I like a meal served hot thus wasn't the case here. The sprouts had a very strange taste and I love sprouts. The gravy was hot

Ordered main and desert. After finishing the main we were left sitting for over half an hour with our plates. In the end my wife had to return the plates and ask for our deserts after watching other tables be cleared ages after customers had left. Best thing was, there were only 4 other tables seated so they can't claim they were busy. The food was lovely, don't get me wrong, but the service was lacking

Went to visit Burnley Mechanics Theatre and called here before the show. Staff were helpful on arrival, 2 of us had the carvery the others going for something different. Food was served in what I felt was an appropriate time, not too quick where you felt it was sat there waiting and not too long, where you think where is my food. The gentleman on the carvery was really good, welcomed us, went through the options, good portions of meat served up. Wished us a good meal and hoped to see us again. Food was good quality and tasty. It is what it is, it's a carvery, a Roast Dinner and enjoyable for it as well.

Came in yesterday for food, the food was loverly. My mum loves the carvery at the Star. May I just add Lorna was so attentive to us, she is definitely a credit to you. 100% made the experience better than expected.

I didn't know this was a carvery now - been a couple times before and seemed a little dated but visited recently and it must have had a revamp. Carvery was beautiful and served sprouts! Not many places do until Christmas time. Lovely food, great prices and staff very friendly. Play gym is still attached so a good place to take the littles too.

The meal was awful. Pie peas mash. The pie crust was so hard my peas flew off the plat when I cut into it. Two pieces of meat in it. The mash was out of a packet. I would never recommend it but I have been told their carvery is ok.

Food and service was good. Vast choice of drinks. Play area/claw machines for entertainment. Reasonable pricing. Whilst not connected to The Star, make sure you park your car correctly and watch the clock, fine is £100. When we visited machine was broken initially but went out to check again a few hours later and the other was then working, bought a ticket, but still been fined, we are contesting it but something to be mindful of.

Had Christmas Dinner here and it was well worth the money. Food was really good and will definitely book again for a meal and Christmas Dinner. Staff was really good and helpful especially as it was Christmas. Well done staff it was a good meal 🙂

Went here with a few friends before and after the Burnley v Chelsea game, nice clean pub with food that, although smelled very nice and appeared good value, I wasn't particularly hungry. Friendly bar staff who offered options for drinks offers. Very reasonable prices, quick service. The only downside was the plastic 'glasses' but I expect that was down to the local police. Security were very helpful and also very friendly. Would definitely recommend and I would return if Burnley (hopefully) stay up.

Have been told today that tables cannot be moved together and only 4 chairs allocated to each table. As a childminder I brought 4 children with me and planned on having lunch here. My other half also had 4 children with her as per the rules on a childminders pass. "So where does one of us sit for lunch, on the floor?" I asked. I was told I could use another table, but not pull it up next to our current table; health and safety rules were quoted as the reason. It delves logic! Petty rules being enforced by jobsworths. They missed out on a lunch order for 10. Their loss.

Review updated. Well I've returned to the star twice since my last review and been surprised. I didn't go for the carvery but ate from the pub menu instead. I was pleased with a hot,tasty freshly cooked meal of fish and chips. Hand battered cod as well. I like to give credit where credit is due. Well done! Keep it up! Attentive staff. However the carvery could have been alot better. Poor quality vegetables. Fatty or dry meats and roast potatoes done in a deep fat fryer. Sauces scarce had to ask. Dont think a repeat visit will be on the cards for us. Visited on a Thursday evening at 7pm

Looking from the carpark, the building is looking old and grubby, and a couple of smashed windows just boarded up. It's not a good look, really. Had a look at the carvery, and it all looked dry as hell but but the kids wanted to give it a try, and I was shocked! The guy who was serving had to weigh the meat. Talk about saving money. ( been told by an old member of staff it's the managers idea) I ordered the shredded beaf with sweet chilly sauce. We all sat down to eat, and the kids had a bit of turkey, and that's it. I had my meal and later had a bad belly. :( That will be the last time my family and I will visit. Shame, really, it used to be so good

Me and my husband went to The Star for a meal. We had the burgers and they were great. We didn't need to book a table which was good as it was a spur of the moment thing. We have also booked a table here for the whole family for my daughter's 18th.

Ordered steak it was more fat then meat, toilets near kids play area were discusting. Could be better if there was more attention to detail

My first visit. I was enticed in by the ad on Manchester Rd which gave me the impression that I could enjoy an English breakfast for around £3. Once inside that hope quickly evaporated. My breakfast, with toast and coffee was more like £8. The coffee was good and served quickly, but was cold by the time my breakfast arrived - after a long wait! The beans and the rather fatty bacon were barely warm. Other items were fine. They must be saving on washing up because the toast was balanced on the edge of the breakfast plate and promptly fell off as the plate was put in place. The server did call back on me to ask if all was well. I explained about the cold items and he immediately said, with practise I fear, he was was sorry and would notify the kitchen. These establishments need our support and I will return, but hope for a little better standard next time.

Been for two meals out here in quick succession, the food is excellent, especially for the cheap prices, and the waiting staff are all lovely, polite and professional. Would definitely recommend and already have to some friends.

Abouslty disgrace food tonight won't be returning again food were amazing last time all hot tonight paid extra for corn on cob got a slice that were small there a children's no peas steak were just full of fat chops coverd in others seasons so my daughter wouldn't touch took over a hour to come so they couldn't even go in play area meant to have lettuce on burger nothing at all disgrace full and you get a response hope we get 5 starts next time they don't don't look at there reviews what that corn on cob paid extra for that

Perfectly decent, it ain't special but tasty grub, great service, appropriately priced. My steak was over cooked based on my order, but a nice piece of meat and everyone else's meal was good, empty plates from everyone.

Love a good carvery! We were served by Meghan who was just amazing, straight off the bat was incredibly friendly and funny! She went out of her way to help us and made our experience amazing. The carvery chef was lovely and the carvery was 😍 I’d highly recommend! Definitely coming back when we are visiting the area.

Didn't have things in for a mixed grill so 3 people ordered steak when one got near the end part of it was bloody even though asked for well done. Lasagne was a very small portion and chips were just warm.

Extremely slow service, despite being quiet. 2 other tables got food before us even though we ordered first. Did get an apology after 40 minutes of waiting. Meat was very fatty

Lush meals, easy ordering on the app, or can go to the bar and order. Food came out hot, drinks nice and cold and deserts to die for. Great for families too, wacky wearhouse for the kids. Adults only area too. Reasonably priced. Staff friendly. Definitely recommend!

My daughter and I went to the Star for lunch and had a great experience. The food came quickly, tasted fab and the service couldn't be faulted. Beckie was so helpful and recommended the best meal and dessert for my little girl (mini mania ice cream for dessert :-) ) Will definitely be returning :-)

Absolutely cannot speak highly enough of Ollie and Luke. Thankyou for making our experience today so easy and enjoyable! An unhappy baby and a very anxious autistic 6yr old - to say the least, as we walked through the doors I instantly began to dread what I was letting myself in for! But Ollie welcomed us with a friendly smile and helped us with a highchair and let us sit in a nice quiet corner. He had so much patience with my questions regarding allergens (despite already telling they were on the app to view.) I couldn't concentrate enough to thoroughly check so he did it for me! He even sent Luke running to the kitchen to check packaging for us! Then listened calmly to my 6yr old who I was encouraging to try order her own food to help with her confidence. He offered her several options and explained each in detail to her. Even brought out a small bowl and spoon so the baby was able to share my food because he's obviously too small to manage a full carvery to himself. Ollie straight away carried our drinks over to the table after seeing me look and try to work out how I was going to carry 3 drinks plus a baby with 6yr old in tow too. Both Ollie and Luke saw me trying to work out how to juggle 2 plates of carvery plus the baby and try drag the 6yr old along so she wouldn't get lost, as by this point her anxiety levels were climbing higher and higher, even voicing out loud she was nervous because it was a new place, and they both immediately offered to carry our food to the table and were very patient while the 6yr old fussed about which chair might be the comfiest. On top of all the above, the food was absolutely delicious, plenty of meat on the plate and a vast choice of various veggies/sides on offer too. Honestly, thankyou both so much and we will absolutely be recommending and returning again!

We usually get the to good to go carvery- everyone has always been kind and pleasant to deal with. Whenever we have sat in for a meal it has been quiet so never been to long of a wait.

Called here on Saturday and I must say I was extremely pleased. The food was excellent and the all the staff had smiles on their faces as if it was a pleasure to work there. It makes such a difference to be greeted with such friendly and helpful staff making our visit worthwhile. One of the best Carvery I’ve ever had.
