Just been for the first time and it definitely will not be our last! The fish is stunning, when they say massive haddock they are not kidding. Cooked perfectly, batter was superb, chips were also fabulous. Ordered through the app, really easy, and the staff are lovely. Can not recommend enough, will definitely have to have smaller portion next time so I can try the sponge pudding and custard too! So happy we have. Real, decent chippy, with amazing food. Well done guys, keep doing what you are doing!

Loved this little chippy, Take away only but definitely take it. If it's taking home, picnic or in the car I really enjoyed my meal. I requested my haddock to be lightly battered and it was lovely. Small NHS/discount much appreciated. Would definitely go again. Noha the owner was polite and a happy chap. Food hygiene rating 5 . Mind your head when entering the chippy low ceiling πŸ‘πŸ»

Finally! The Cottage is open again. Under new ownership. Just popped in when I saw the open sign. Chips were perfect plus I couldn't resist adding a piece of fish, it was cooked to order and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Im so happy there is finally a chippy within walking distance of my house and I can just phone my order through. Menu is simple which means its all freshly made to order. Although Noah, the new owner assured me he is going to be serving

Been many years since we used this chip shop.Ordered fish and chips twice and LG carton of peas and gravy, short wait but noisy customer making it feel uncomfortable. Sadly, I cannot believe that others have raved about the quality of the food...the chips were not hot, the fish and batter tasted like it had been cooked in burnt or old oil, not worth the money, won't be using again, Sorry.

I am gluten intolerant and quite often struggle to get gluten free fish and chips. The Cottage checked it was an intolerance rather than an allergy and happily rustled up the tastiest fish and chips I've had in ages. Big thanks 😊

The best chippy I’ve had. Chips cooked in beef dripping they taste amazing and fluffy. Also a free curry sauce in the bag. Great service, will be back :)

Just had fish and chips here for the first time, have to be some of the best I've had locally. Chips were lovely, fish was nice and fresh and the batter remained crispy throughout (not many places manage that). Not greasy, well cooked and tasty, I have a feeling the chips were done in dripping but with not going inside (covid-19 precautions) I can't confirm. My daughter had the 12" sausage which she loved and I need to try the battered haggis and one of the award winning pies, so will most definitely be going back. Think this place has just become my favourite local chippy, you have to go deep into Yorkshire to find better or maybe even as far as Whitby!

Can’t fault the place! Good fish and chips and friendly staff! I just hope they do disinfect or wash their hands before preparing the food! Not, that they don’t! It’s just that Covid has rubbed off on me! Don’t want to complain!

Fantastic chippy! Fed us all for Β£7 - 3 regular chips and one curry sauce (5 of us). Chips were outstanding. Very glad we decided to go. Thanks guys! :-) We haven't been able to find Nottingham quality chips up here, until we found you.

A southerner on his mission to find haddock in Rawtenstall! Well what can I say…. The haddock was cooked to perfection just how I like it!! The new owner was very welcoming, chatty. I shall be visiting ThE COTTAGE very soon.

Haven’t been to this chippy in a while, decent customer service, fresh food tasted good the only thing was the portions are extremely stingy paid Β£6.40 for 2 regular chips I’d hate to see the small portions. Not worth the prices

Just tried The Cottage chippy again. Met the new owner Noor, what a lovely guy he is. Really friendly and keen to do well! Our chios were delicious, and I had fish goujons which were extremely fresh. It wasn't greasy, it was just right. I even tried a deep fried mars bar (never had one before !!) Will definitely go again.

At last this chippy has been restored to it's former good food glory by Noah. Great Fish & Chips served by a friendly enthusiastic foodie who cares about what he's serving up - you'll struggle to find better!

Great fish and chips. However this place does THE BEST PIES I have ever tasted. The pastry is wonderful, the fillings are extremely meaty and tasty. The miso duck pie in particular is phenomenal. Top tip. Eat the innards first and save the pastry for a mini plum infused dessert.

Could not ring an order through but thought every one would be busy. Went down to get meals for 4, small wait 5-10 minutes which is nothing for a Friday night at 7.15. The fish and chips was to die for chips, home meat pie was brilliant with proper meaty gravy the kids had sausage chips and gravy they ate the lot which is rare for them this chippy is well recommended.
