We had a lovely afternoon here with an interactive exhibition on both cotton and wool. There is a rich and deep history recorded here and it is fascinating for locals as well as textile enthusiasts. The tour is fab, the machines still work and the staff as super knowledgable and friendly. I'll definitely recommend it to everyone!

2 hours at most to walk around. Guided walks every half hour very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Lovely place to take the children. Shows them how lucky they are not having to work in a cotton mill. Speaking of which kids go free and adults are just 4 of your British pounds which is fantastic. Café is good as well nice ambience and good value. I didn't take pictures so you can go and see this hidden gem yourself.

This is a very interesting mill museum and rather unusual as it covers both the wool and cotton trades. Tours of both sides of the mill are offered by docents and are quite informative. I particularly liked how they connected common expressions to their origins in mills, ie. "spinsters", "a cut above" "on tenterhooks". All of the equipment used is on view on both sides of the mill, but on the cotton side there are machines that still operate. Seeing them demonstrated, I tried to envision the noise, dust and danger involved in their use. There are interactive displays as well and some wonderful period photographs. Their gift shop has lots of interesting books and toys for children. The staff couldn't be nicer. Very friendly and helpful.

Great museum, lots about the cotton industry and how it affected the local area. Got to see the machines in action, which was fantastic. The staff were great, doing everything from the till, to tours, to the cafe. Lady who did the tour around the machines was particularly good, really knew her stuff and explained the whole process. Cafe also good, had a nice cake and a drink. Spent over three hours here, great place to visit.

A fantastic visit with knowledgeable and friendly guides that brought the history of the mills to life. To see the machines actually working was amazing and the exhibition was child and adult friendly. Well worth the entrance fee of £4 for an adult. I can highly recommend a visit!

Local gem, friendly and knowledgeable folk. a history lesson with smiling faces, you'll leave knowing a bit more about the world that was. The canteen is also decent with the staff doubling up. On a good day the lodge pond outside is beautiful so take your sandwiches outside!

Been coming here over 20 years. Lovely little place. Cafe inside is great and child friendly. Opening times are seasonal so make sure you check first. Taking the kids is eye opening for them to experience what life was like. A must visit if your in the area!

😐 Very busy due to the Scotsman. Great place to visit. Only thing that dropped the rating for me was a certain demographic that pushed my 4 year old out the way to get past and take pictures. 👍👍 Lovely circular or linear walk to a waterfall and small river. There's a picnic spot and an area for you to explore what's in the river. Walk completed with a 3 and 1 year old and a 4 month old baby. Could take a buggy on a good day. But it's fairly muddy - the baby carrier worked fine. There's some...
