Horse riding school

😠 My daughter had a "own a pony for a day" experience today. She absolutely loves riding and everything about horses but hated every minute of the experience. She said everyone was mean and they was very strict, and didn't once try to make the experience enjoyable even shouting because she hadn't fill... My daughter had a "own a pony for a day" experience today. She absolutely loves riding and everything about horses but hated every minute of the experience. She said everyone was mean and they was very strict, and didn't once try to make the experience enjoyable even shouting because she hadn't filled enough hay nets up. I even gave her money to take so she could book some more lessons but she doesn't want to go back, not the experience she or I was expecting. Would not recommend.

Took my 4 year old niece here for her second lesson and the instructor I think her was Denise grabbed my nieces clothes and tried making her stand when her right foot wasn't in the stirrup. Other people watching said there was no need for her to do this to her she suffers with anxiety and she didn't enjoy it like she is supposed to at the end of the lesson my niece couldn't get off the pony and Denise went over and was making her lean forward and my niece was scared and said she needed the toilet and when she was told to lean forward my niece said she was doing and Denise said you always say you are doing but you don't do it. No child should feel scared won't recommend to anyone

What a lovely place to ride. Rode as child and then stopped and have picked it up again as an adult. Previous school I tried was awful but this one is really nice. The instructor and staff there obviously genuinely love horses and I noticed what great condition the animals are in. They are really loved and cared for. The place had such a nice atmosphere too. I booked a half hour lesson and the instructor Lesley was lovely and very professional. It was a very friendly place and I would recommend it for lessons. I felt really comfortable and delighted that I went.

Excellent riding school. My daughter has been having lessons for the last 8 months and she’s doing fantastic. Evie was suffering badly with anxiety and extremely low confidence but Lesley (riding instructor) has been an integral part of her recovery. She has shown her patience and compassion but has also pushed her when she’s needed it. Evie’s come on leaps and bounds and we’re so grateful to Lesley and her wonderful team.

REFUSAL TO REFUND MONEY if it were possible to leave a negative star i would. I decided to restart riding lessons to improve my mental health but choosing ARC was a colossal mistake!!! The instructor uses a punitive, dominating and conflicting method of teaching which is contrary to the claims on their website of providing an encouraging supportive environment. My final lesson was mid afternoon on a hot day with inadequate fly repellent on the horse - which had been changed without notifiying me - as an autistic adult (disclosed to the instructor) this was enough to unsettle me. The lesson then consisted of shouting at me to keep the horse going/allow him to itch completely inconsistent,: £30 to be continually pulled over the horses neck! the lovely instructor was also agitated at me because i hadnt (in 3 lessons) memorised all of the letters around the school and just a really unpleasant experience. The lesson ended abruptly with me refusing to engage any longer, this left the riding school holding the pre paid £30. I decided to take my business elsewhere and sent an email asking for my money to be returned, email ignored. A second letter was sent again completely ignored and no money returned. As a law student i am now about to escalate purely based on principle. if you wish to be demoralised book in here, if not there are many much better schools available in the area. This is not a positive based teaching environment.

My daughter has been learning to ride here for the past 4 years. It is a fantastic riding centre with wonderful friendly staff and some amazing horses and ponies. My daughters confidence has grown immensely, and both group and private lessons have been of great value to her learning. I would highly recommend ARC to anyone wanting to learn to ride.

If you want to learn to ride with the most fun and learn to ride to show standard this is the place to come. All the staff are friendly and find time to explain what to do and why you do it.
