The manager woman NEVER EVER smiles with really bad customer service and management skills. Scruffy looking always with bad manners and not polite speaking. Keyboards are ALWAYS dirty. There has only been one member of staff very helpful very professional ALWAYS. He should be promoted to management highly recommended if any problems always works on top floor named John. This is and has been always my experience here. I hope they look into this ASAP and change where it's needed as it has been taken further as I observe every staff I come in and so should you as most of them do not know a thing.

A nice place to sit & read a book, as well as a valued community amenity in Accrington Town Centre. One could easily spend an hour or more distracted by the reading material here on offer, as well as displays about local activities e.g. a floating library on The Leeds and Liverpool Canal (October 2022). The library is less than 10 minutes' walk from Accrington Rail & Bus Stations.

I had the most wonderful time with my son, daughter-in-law and little one year old granddaughter. It was story/activity time, the man librarian played his guitar and sang songs which involved all the children, whilst both he and the lady librarian read stories to the children. I am looking forward to my next visit!

Lovely place just a shame its getting smaller i remember when i was little and the kids section was a massive magical room in the back and now the areas closed off and the kids area is a tiny area but im glad they at least managed to keep the book train and they do little interactive activities for the kids I often take my child to participate in when we can. Shame they dont rent out dvds and cds anymore was starting to use it as the new blockbuster- its nice being able to watch a movie without keeping it as it makes less clutter and raises money for the library. They should totally start some fundraisers or something because this is a place i want to see saved and returned to its former glory- in today's world of poor economy and failing education we need good libraries like this.

One of the Carnegie libraries, it is located in a central position in town. Like many libraries, it has had to adapt with time. Downstairs finds a more or less traditional (but open plan) setup, a bank of public computers, a reception desk , with very engaging staff ,who do enquiries and the more traditional librarian roles. ( No more bill payments, over the counter). There are toddler, young group sessions here, (you can look for a book and be serenaded!). Upstairs, are a suite of rooms, The old reference area is more or less given to computing, but there are microfiches and other avenues of research available. Don't be put off by the steep front steps. To the side there is a manageable ramped access and an elevator to upper floors. My description barely does justice... a place to visit or, if local, to give your support to.

Beautiful building but not suitable for children. Very small children's section in the middle of the floor with limited books and space to sit. One staff member told my son to calm down as he was exploring the section and wanted him to sit quietly instead of looking around and enjoying the space. I guess it's ok for grown ups but not at all for any child as they seem very old fashioned in their approach to learning for young children. Only one staff member smiled at us but the others made us fee very uncomfortable as we were the only family in there with children. We left after around 15mins due to this. We definitely won't go back as my son felt like he'd been told off for nothing and we want him to enjoy reading without the pressure of miserable library staff who probably would be happy with no kids section at all.
