Hiya. Me and my family went to Darwen leisure centre to go swimming and asked for 2 adults and 2 childrens tickets for the next family session in the big pool. They said we could only book online. In the queue next to us was an elderly lady who heard this and said she doesn't have the internet so she couldn't go swimming. So we're in the year 2021 and an elderly lady who's paid her tax etc all her life can't go swimming even though she's at the reception desk at Darwen leisure centre and ready to pay with cash. She has to book online! Yet back in the 1970s, 80s etc you just turned up and pay at the counter. So 50 years ago it was much simpler, in simple terms we're going backwards! I get online and try and book a family ticket for swimming, I select it and it comes up in my basket £47 instead of £11...... I try this several times....same thing. So I try to become a member, email, password etc no problem. So I try to login and it asks for a membership number........errrr sorry but I've not been sent a membership number!!!!!! TOTALLY HAD ENOUGH!!!!! This is NOT acceptable! The website/Booking process are not fit for purpose and I detest the elitist mentality which is prevalent in processes such as this. Whoever manages the construction/concepts of this process obviously has no idea of what technophobia is; and also people who are illiterate, have learning disabilities or difficulties and also for people for whom English is a second language. Also the elderly, of which there are many who have the right to NOT have the internet etc because they simply don't want or need it, and probably in many cases can't afford it. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!! Do you call yourself intelligent??!!! If yes why is the process of paying for swimming so complicated! Technology is supposed to make things simpler, not more complicated/time consuming; and in the elderly ladies case we saw today EXCLUDING................

All aspects of the centre are well organised with various classes and up-to-date facilities in the gym. The swimming area is safe and manned by Life-guard staff. From the Reception to all areas, the staff are friendly, supportive and helpful.

First time visiting this leisure facility and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I think it's a fantastic facility. I used the gym which was very good. I would recommend adding a few mirrors in the free weights area, especially in front of the squat rack. Also invest some proper sized Olympic weights. Loved the fact the reception has a coffee shop. Flat white was spot on. The lady serving was really friendly too. Great to see a place like this available for the locals to use.

Been using on and off over the last few years, good classes with plenty of choice at a fair price for a membership. The only thing I would say is that the layout of gym needs re thinking as no area to use for the free weight section towards the back and no mirrors in front of any of the racks/again free weights to check on your form feels very crammed.

I love coming here, especially for a swim. I've used the gym but I'm a little gym shy if it's busy. Has a sauna and steam room, everything is lovely and clean. Really friendly staff!

Took my daughter swimming, bit expensive if you want to go quite often as they no longer do the beez card discount on the majority of the sessions. Didn’t stay too long as the pool was cold. Changing facilities and toilets were clean, but no hair dryers anymore so had to leave with wet hair.

Helpful staff. Good pool. Mainly clean. Tremendous value for residents of Blackburn. £1 for two showers and an hour's exercise. Lost a star because lots of dust on the cable racking and steels above the changing room.

I love this place, honestly everyone there is sound (except from the late night ego lifters), I highly recommend getting a membership especially with an hour's PT a month with some amazingly friendly personal trainers it is a great place to workout and grow

Used to go to Darwen Leisure centre regularly 20 odd years ago. My Granddaughter goes to the Friday Swimming club so I gave the gym a whirl. It's very different from last time I visited but still as good as it was then.

Great leisure centre, pay monthly membership ship is reasonable. Access to personal trainer twice a month, who can tailor a fitness plan for you. You need to be quick to book on certain classes as they fill up quickly.

Very clean, good facilities, no cafe on a Saturday which is a shame. Otherwise it's great. Good location, easy-ish system to book online and love the small pool.

Nice centre, great coffee in the cafe. Gym is great and quiet in the mornings. Plus they had the blood donation drive come over every now and again.

Good swimming pool. Only downside is lack of hairdryers and tumble dryer like Blackburn leisure has.

Took my granddaughter to her swimming lesson. Had a coffee while watching her from the gallery. The instructor was very good and I could see that he was explaining everything clearly.

The facilities at Darwen leisure centre are good. Gym, squash courts, two swimming pools (one for the kids) etc etc. You can even book table tennis! I'll probably find myself inside its walls once again at some point. The staff are helpful and polite. Well recommend 👍🏻

Alison and the refresh team are excellent, they're totally switched on to the capabilities of individuals and ensure everyone is able to achieve the maximum from the course. After 1 week I'm astounded at the difference it's made to me both physically and in my outlook.

When they designed this leisure centre 20 years ago they decided against building any squash courts, which is a real shame seeing as there is such a shortage across the district, especially now that they've closed down Shadsworth Leisure Centre. It is also a shame that they can't be more competitive on price for their courts, as they're often empty in large parts of the day. Apart from this though it has a well kept gym and pool area, including a smaller pool that caters for infants. There is also a cafe which allows for great views of the pools.

Disappointed with the constant change of swimming times. The car park is rarely accessible after 9.15 am. Not great for people with disabilities. Most of the staff are so helpful and go the extra mile 🙂

It's always very clean, friendly staff, good range of gum equipment and full range of classes, the spa and steam room has a good chill out space to relax, the pool has 3 areas small pool for toddlers and 2 main 1 side usually for length and other usually for public swim, only downside is odd time and it is rare but the pool has rude swimmers, I been nearly kicked, and repeatedly splashed and this is adults not kids.
