Interesting fish market located in central Catania. Very close to other sights in Catania. Handicap ♿️ doable. Be aware of stairs. Restrooms 🚻 unavailable. Recommended

You can see the rush and tranquility at the same time, sellers are chill and don’t mind if you don’t buy anything. There is also a stand that fries fish , calamari and paws , we has the calamari for 5€

It is a very interesting place to visit and see all the actions. Many stalls selling almost anything from sea food to vegetables, chicken and etc but as a tourist, the person selling the fish wasn’t honest, it was clearly listed as €6 per kg but try to charge us at €20, after some haggling, he reduced it to €14. I refused and walked away. Nice to visit but don’t think they are honest enough.

Great to see the catanian culture however in my opinion most sellers keep their fish in unhygienic conditions. Even though the fish is fresh, it sits in the sun and in its blood and dirty water, without ice, and flies are in a frenzy here. Great to see but I did not buy any fish.

My favourite place, visiting Catania! Fish, fruits, a beer for 1£, and eating fresh oysters at 8:00am with a glass of white wine! Music and food cooked around you with beautiful flavours.

Incredible! We stood on the elevated walk (to avoid the wet area) and watched the action - the customers selecting their fish, the sellers cutting it to order, the hubbub of a very active market. Great experience!

For the tourists, a great place to enjoy Catania. For the locals, the best place to get fish. It is a must-go when you are in Catania, even if just to enjoy the atmosphere. Laughter, bargening, discussions, local products and… great photo moments!!

Really love the vibe there, very local, authentic, with local stores selling seafood, fruits and vegetables. However, do note that some stall owners do not converse in English so some Italian will definitely help. There are also many nice restaurants selling seafood dishes. Will be back!

I had the pleasure of visiting the Catania fish market and it was truly an experience like no other. The market is a hub of activity, with the hustle and bustle of buyers and sellers creating a lively atmosphere. What really struck me was the contrast between the chaos and the serenity. Despite the busy surroundings, the sellers were surprisingly relaxed and didn't seem to mind if I didn't make a purchase. One of the standout features of the market was the seafood fry stand. This stand offered a mouthwatering array of fried fish, calamari, and paws. The smell of the fresh seafood being cooked was irresistible, and I found myself succumbing to the temptation to grab a bite. Overall, visiting the Catania fish market was an unforgettable experience. The energy and sights of the market were truly incredible, and the laid-back attitude of the sellers made it a stress-free and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend anyone visiting Catania to take the opportunity to visit the market and experience it for themselves.

Yeah, it is a fish market alright. Definitely worth your time. When the market closes early in the afternoon, ~1 pm ~ the vendors pick up everything and wash and you 'd never know there was a fish market there.

Very authentic place! Smelly and full of character. Freshly caught tuna, swordfish, squid, shrimp, various types of shells and other small and big sea creatures. Some of the places offer dishes to go. Beware of paying, they try to cheat with change sometimes.

It is a nice place to see if you are visiting Catania, but consist of only few streets and we didn’t see anyone cooking fish other than selling Ouster or Mussels. You can also find local vegetables in this market.

I think this place is just a traditional market as you can see anywhere. But I recommend visiting here if you want to buy some fruits, because the fruits are so cheap that you can taste Sicilia's fruits :-)

A must see in Catania!!! The atmosphere and vibe of this place is sooo Italian!!! It embodies Italian way of life and temperament. The variety of fish is out of this world! Sellers praising their products shouting out loud make it an unique experience.

If you're visiting Catania you have to visit this place. It's a typical Sicilian open market in an old part of the city with locals offering and buying fresh fish.

Tar is a vegetarian and Irina is a pescatarian (eats fish and seafood but no meat). Typically, we both avoid places where meat and seafood are the main attractions. However, this visit of the Fish Market in Catania turned out to be a surprisingly amusing and eye-opening experience! Located in the heart of Catania, the fish market is a bustling hub of activity. From the moment we stepped foot into the market, we were surrounded by vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and the lively buzz of vendors and customers. The variety of fish and seafood on display was truly impressive. From enormous swordfish and tuna to plump shrimp and clams, the market showcased the bounty of the Mediterranean Sea. We were amused and couldn't help filming! Here we are sharing a video that we hope gives you a sense of the place's atmosphere.

Great experience you never want to miss! Best way starting your morning visit in Catania. Fresh fish at your choice, shrimps, sea urchins, basically whatever you think of. All fresh. Smell warning though 😀 See the pictures and video I have attached.

Fantastic place to feel the vibe of Sicily and grab something to eat. So many fresh products like fish, meet, cheese, bread, fruits tht is very difficult to chose something. Verity of sweet breads make me crazy. Definitely place where you have to be in Katania.

Very questionable hygiene here. Most stalls do not have their fish on ice. The fish is sitting in bloody water. Really gross.

Amazing place with fresh fish and seafoods. Worth to come and see local sellers and feel atmosphere of Italy markets. For sure you won’t regret.

Reviewing not as a fish marked but as a 'sight' as listed in my guidebook. At the end of the day it's a fish market. It sells fish there is nothing out of the ordinary that you don't see at any other fish market in any other city in the world. Not a patch on Seattle's pike place fish market.
