A
beautiful
hilltop
town
in
Umbria!
Besides
being
famous
for
the
St.Francis
of
Assisi
and
the
many
chiese
(churches),
the
history
of
this
town
goes
way
back
to
1000
BC!
The
views
of
the
basilica
is
spectacular
on
the
ride
up
the
hill.
If
you
get
to
Assisi
by
train,
the
station
is
down
in
the
valley
and
there
are
frequent
buses
that
go
go
up
the
hill
to
the
the
basilica
and
other
parts
of
the
town.
The
town
itself
is
cute
with
narrow
streets,
lots
of
ups
and
downs,
walkable
from
end
to
end.
There
are
several
churches,
museums
and
other
attractions
along
the
way,
including
lovely
views
of
the
valley
from
up
top.
There
are
plenty
of
good
eateries,
cafes
and
gelateria,
gift
shops
etc.
