What a great experience at Mama’s. The food was homemade, the drinks were delicious, and the staff members are pleasant. The atmosphere is upscale and elegant. Everyone in my family enjoyed their dish, we each took bites from each other’s food because everything was seriously so good. Hands down some of the best Italian food I’ve ever tried. I highly recommend Mama’s On The Hill to everyone!

Mama's has the best Italian food we've ever had. With every bite you can tell that it's authentic and homemade. We ordered the toasted ravioli appetizer which was absolutely delicious. The marinara sauce that came with it was phenomenal. I ordered the hill spaghetti even though I'm not a spaghetti fan. I was pleasantly surprised and have now found a spaghetti that I love. We also ordered the ripieno which was full of amazing flavors. The raspberry Italian soda was a nice touch since we don't have Italian sodas at any of the Italian restaurants back home in my city. We also ordered one of the days specialty desserts which was some sort of pumpkin and cream pie (?). The gentleman who made the dessert is from Italy and had his own bakery there so there was no way we could turn that down. The dessert was fantastic! And the gentleman was a delight to speak with. Our server, Marcus, along with another gentleman who brought us our water did an amazing job with the service provided. Everyone was extremely kind and polite. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The food came out fast and hot. Absolutely nothing negative to say about this place or the people we interacted with. HIGHLY recommend. I only wish they were closer to us since we're from Nebraska.

Absolutely delicious food! Got the toasted ravioli (SO GOOD!!) and the red pepper ravioli & added chicken to it. The entree was delicious, on the heavier side and honestly not spicy at all. But i do eat a ton of spicy food, so take accordingly. Too many onions was the only downside. Chicken was cooked perfectly as well Service was quick, got helped by Louis who was very nice and just attentive enough. Only negative comment on the service was it took about 3-4min for anyone to pay attention to me when i walked in, and i saw about four people look at me - my server ended up seating me, but off the bat wasn’t a fan of the wait (had maybe like four/five tables seated)

Meh... better than Olive Garden? Thank God, yes. I was super excited about trying an Italian restaurant on The Hill, everyone says it's such a big deal, and the food was supposed to be delicious. Face it, americans don't have the finest of taste buds, take the reviews with a grain of salt, and the recommendations, too; that was an overpriced plate of pasta with some runny sauce, onions and peas? (Was supposed to be A la vodka) We also ordered the Alfredo, that was another big plate with some dry sticky sauce, a expensive plate of boiled pasta basically. The bread? A joke, any restaurant that claims to be an authentic Italian restaurant takes pride in their bread, this was a cold loaf like the ones you get a Walmart. Didn't bother to try a dessert, if they can't make that simple dish taste right, I can't imagine the specialties like seafood. I have no idea about the other restaurants on The Hill, but this one was a expensive Ragu. Maybe it was good years ago, and now that they have tourists coming on a daily basis, they don't care anymore. Service isn't quite friendly either but I don't care about that, just mediocre food that makes you feel like you definitely paid too much.

Experience was excellent as always. Had a 6:30 reservation on Sat night, got us seated right on time. Ordered the side salad pictured and King of the Hill 12”. Pizza looked fabulous, prepared excellently. The sausage wasn’t my favorite, I’m sure it was very good quality-just not for me. I like a firmer chew to Italian sausage. Service team did nice job! I don’t give many 5 star reviews if any up till now, I just can’t think of anything I would change.

Wonderful dining experience. Excellent selection of food on the menu of Italian favorites. We were there for a late Saturday lunch, and service was great. Edit: Returned four months later and greatly enjoyed the food and service. Was impressed by the clean and roomy bathrooms, also.

Beware when ordering takeout! We ordered the stuffed French bread, which is supposed to be a full loaf (per menu), but the ends were all missing plus a piece from one side. There was plenty of room in the box for all pieces, plus it was burned. They did not charge us less. In addition, we purchased the King of The Hill pizza and it did not have all the meat that was listed on the menu description. Also, they did not give us any bread and said it is only on request. So disappointing. I left a $25 tip on a $120 takeout order and was expecting the same quality of food that one would receive when dining in. I definitely feel ripped off. Very poor quality. False menu advertising.

Food was spectacular! Probably the best lasagna I’ve ever had. Made fresh to order and I ate every bite😉 Fried cheese ravioli was better IMO than the ravioli with meat. The service was top tier, they exceeded my expectations! I was visiting but would definitely go again when I return.

Waiter was nice. However I ordered the lasagna, the center of it was cold. The waiter sent it back, when it returned the top was burnt (they just stuck it in the microwave). I took 2 bites, it was incredibly salty (for whatever reason). Instead of simply taking the item off the check , or canceling the check. The manager in the back said they could remake it or give me a different pasta, however refused to take it off the check. Customer service is clearly lacking along with food quality

Always love trying different Italian restaurants when traveling and Mama's did not disappoint! I ordered the linguine gamberetto. The jumbo shrimp were perfectly cooked and the white wine sauce was delicious! The waiter was nice and very attentive. I would love to come back next time I am in town to try some of their other dishes! We also ordered fettuccine Alfredo, chicken Alfredo & kids spaghetti. Total was about $100. Everyone enjoyed their food.

It was spontaneous decision to dine at Mama’s after Botanical garden. 1st plus - close to Botanical Garden. For Sunday dinner - getting table for 4 with no wait - that’s second plus. We did come right before 5 pm - that might helped. Great table service - proficient and friendly. Peach sangria after hot day outside - few more pluses. Good choices for kids. Loved Lobster Ravioli and my wife enjoyed Veggie Ravioli. Escargot gave us good start. Oh, and Cannoli - for desert! Definitely place to come back if I can figure out how to get parking close by (one small minus).

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We ordered the seafood linguine (no scallops), lasagna, green beans, garlic cheese breads and an espresso martini. Pros: -with a reservation you should be seated quickly. Very easy to call and reserve a spot to avoid a wait because the restaurant was full. -absolutely loved the seafood linguine! The sauce was amazing! -the garlic cheese bread (although I would’ve liked more garlic flavor) was good, the sauce it came with was very fresh and flavorful! Cons: -the lasagna was cold in some spots. Would’ve liked it more if there was less meat and more of the sauce for the tomato flavor to come through but the Italian sausage was too overwhelming -although it’s nice that they box leftovers for you I had a large amount of sauce left with my shrimp and asked for a box so I could throw more pasta in it the next day but when I got my box there was barely any of the sauce left. The dish is a little pricey because it’s in a lobster and crab sauce so I would’ve wanted to take ALL of the sauce home instead of someone dumping it and just boxing my shrimp. Overall I’d definitely come back for the seafood pasta again and try out some wine!

If you’ve craving homemade cozy Italian feel, this is your answer. The food is fantastic. And when they said spicy, they mean it. Each entree is so flavorful cook to perfection. Our server Sam was also terrific. He was really helpful and charming. If I can give more than 5-star, I would. They deserve all the praises. Parking can be challenging at time, just have to drive around and make sure not to block someone’s driveway.

I have noticed this place and finally had the chance to stop for lunch. I was a little worried when I wasn’t greeted right away with a lot of open tables. I’m glad I did stop though first off as a water drinker I love the way they serve up a gallon of water. It was a great atmosphere. The waitress was very nice and served us up one of the best tasting salads. I had spaghetti with meat balls it was delicious.

Delicious food and great service. We visited on a Saturday at 3pm and it was full so you know the food is good! Appetizer platter is a must! You get so much, probably good for 2-4 people to share. Seafood linguine is to die for, super creamy and seafoody flavour with giant prawns and scallops. Both a must try! Note that if you split an entree or pasta, they will charge $2 to split it as they serve it on 2 separate plates.

Food tasted absolutely amazing. The reason for the 4/5 was the awful wait time and the service. We came at a very busy time, 6pm on a Saturday night. We got on the waitlist with a 45 minute wait time and knowing it was going to be long we decided to try it. The 45 minutes turned into over a 1.5 hour wait as the reservations started showing up which pushed us back in the line. Finally once we got in, it was very loud and we didn’t have much space. Service wasn’t the best and I guess part of that blame was just how busy it was. Once sitting down, we asked for bread. 25 minutes passed and no bread came. We had to ask again before we finally got bread - 3 minutes before our food arrived. Other tables got their bread immediately upon sitting down. The food was great though. I had the hill of spaghetti which was delicious. The toasted ravioli was also good. The portion sizes were a tad small for the price. If you decide to try this restaurant, I highly recommend reserving ahead of time to avoid the busy wait. This place seems to be very popular at all times of the day.

We got in within 10 minutes on a busy Friday night. Seated in the basement, it was a little hard to hear each other. The service was fast and friendly, right on time. The food was excellent and came out quickly. The portions were generous and hot. We walked a few blocks from the rental house. We had appetizers, the meal and dessert! They did not disappoint. Many places to choose from. I would definitely eat here again.

I loved this place! Very good italian foods. The best thing was bartender! While we were waiting for our tables we ordered a drink and it was so good and he was really good at his job! Our foods was delicious and we thought that bread can have little garlic butter and other dressings! I liked the restroom and atmosphere was pretty cool. Server was not too polite but was fine.

the pasta was absolutely amazing. lasagna was delicious along with the seafood linguine. antipasto was so big and good. the only thing killing the mood a bit was a couple seated next to us, one was talking on the phone on a speaker and their presence was just annoying. but the food and dessert were amazing. cheesecake was like whipped and much softer than others it was so good.

Wow, wow, wow, this place was so good! The best Lasagna I’ve ever eaten. Their house salad was to die for. Even my youngest loved the vinaigrette on the salad! It was sweet and tangy. The service was so great. They were helpful on what to order and patient when we couldn’t make up our minds. The toasted ravioli was worth it! If I didn’t live 24 hours away I’d come back often!

Our first meal on The Hill and it was worth the wait! The toasted ravioli is be the best I’ve ever had and the Linguini Gamberetto was out of this world! Can’t wait to visit again next time we are in town!

Walked in here after putting my name on the wait list for Zia's and deciding to explore the area while I waited. Cancelled my wait list spot and ate here instead. Glad I did. Fantastic food, fantastic staff. Would definitely eat here again next time we're in town. The Pasta con Broccoli with added shrimp was amazing.

We visited late on mother's day, and while they were extremely busy we were still able to be seated quickly. Our server was excellent and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was probably the best Italian food I've ever had the pleasure to eat. We tried the combo platter appetizer, my partner got the seafood ravioli, and I ordered vitello saltimbocca. Everything was phenomenal. It's a shame I don't live closer because I would be here all the time. I will definitely return the next time I'm in St Louis.

Since coming here we dont go to any other Italian spot. We LOVE the lobster ravioli & the seafood linguine. We've tried every appetizer & while the quantity isnt worth the price or quality, we like the calamari best.

Where do I begin? WOW! Took my daughter out for lunch and did a search of nearby restaurants. When I listed Mama's On The Hill, an instant "Yes!" My daughter then told me of her friends eating at Mama's, that it is a definite try. We tried escargot for the first time, that was good. Then the house specialty of spaghetti and lasagna. This was the best lasagna I've had in a long time. And for dessert, cheesecake, I will be dreaming about that cheesecake for a long time. The restaurant was clean, and our waitress was helpful, friendly, and engaging. Mama's On The Hill will be a favorite.

This was my first time to Mama's and I will definitely be back! The staff was exceptionally friendly, dirty dishes taken away promptly and drinks were always full. The food was outstanding, everything was delicious! Edit: The food was so good, I forgot to take pics. The pollo marsala is delicious and the tortellini ala pappa is one of the best I've had!

Decided to try Mama’s On The Hill last night. Literally feels like you are in an Italian mama’s house. Friendly staff, had a glass of wine outside on the patio while waiting on the table. The waiter had a lot of customers so service was a little slow but the bread wasn’t my favorite. Still an amazing place to go and the main dishes were amazing!

  • 5/5 Klaire T. 1 year ago on Google
Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Food was delicious. Street parking only, which is the whole area of The Hill. Atmosphere is a little crowded, but family orientated. Be prepared to wait 30min or more, but it's definitely worth it!
