I signed up for the House of Pain exactly a week ago and I was so excited to finally found a gym close by my house after moving to St. Louis but I cancelled my membership today. I can not deny the variety of equipment is great but the main reason I cancelled my membership is cleanliness of the gym. The equipments are not clean and I think they have not been cleaned for a long time. so sorry to write this weak review but I think with pretty much high cost of membership, the area and equipment must be more clean and newer. anyway, after a week although I paid activation fee and first month membership, I cancelled.

My girlfriend and I travel frequent for work so we are always looking for good quality gyms. House of Pain gym has friendly staff and all the equipment serious lifters are looking to find. The owner Joe was great, you can definitely tell he takes extra care to keep a spotless clean facility. I highly recommend this gym!

This is one of the best gyms around for competitors. I pay annually to keep my behind from slacking but as a female competitor they are the best in town thus far. OUTSTANDING customer service which is #1 for me & the place is clean! Even in off season it’s nice to be able to go in get it done & not have to fight for equipment or a machine. Both locations are absolutely amazing🦾

I've been a HoP member for 1.5 years. The best thing about this gym is the atmosphere. People who want to lift, are respectful, and kind to one another. I've never seen anything like it. There is enough equipment to go around, and a lot of great choices. Never have to wait for anything as there are always alternatives to choose from. My issues with this gym are with the cleanliness and orderliness. Upon walking through the parking lot you'll see trash all over the ground and weeds. There is equipment and tarps laying around the side bay door. Cardio machines have a sweat film on the main part under the consoles where your feet would hit if you moved them too far up. The dumbbells are also consistently loose, and I know I can get the Alan wrench. But an employee can definitely do this maybe like twice a day, morning and evening. Organization has gotten better in the last couple months since the owner has made an appearance.

Best gym in St Louis hands down. Was lucky enough to move back from NYC a few years ago right when House of Pain first opened. I found a family here that was so welcoming and friendly. Accepting of absolutely everyone. The owner, Joe, is one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting and he is always on the floor introducing himself to new faces at the gym. The equipment is impeccable and everything is very clean. You will find whatever you need here- from power lifter, bodybuilder, to cardio enthusiast, they have it all. Everyone here is super focused on self improvement- it's such a breath of fresh air. If you are a newbie to the gym, I know without a doubt any one person here would be more than happy to help out and explain machines. Such a welcoming atmosphere with a ton of great people. They just finished an expansion that made this great place even better. Highly recommend 10/10!!!

Badass hidden gem! Was visiting from out of town and we were able to workout with a day pass for free. Plenty of equipment and bomb music!

It has potential to be a great gym. But even in this new space they’ve decided to cram EVERY old machine they own onto the floor. Super cluttered. The dumbbells are loose all the time. I just hope housekeeping is better at this one.

The true judgment free zone- May seem intimidating but people are all super nice. Every member has a story no attitudes here! True family. Owned business and they make you feel like family. Any member is happy to help get you started if you are lost or unsure. From power lifter to physique to wanting to just get in shape everyone is welcome and they are excited to see you every time! Go visit ! What do you have to lose? Oh and no long term contract !! Month to month from the start!!

Stopped by for a workout traveling for work. a lot of heavy equipment, way too crammed together for the amount of people there at night. Good ole school gym atmosphere. Gave it a 3* for calling ahead and being told a different day pass rate when I walked in the door 🙄. $20 for a day pass fyi. 0 water refill stations.

Best equipment, best community of members / environment inside the gym space, and the friendliest owner who makes everybody feel like family! I love this gym and always enjoy my time working out here! 10/10 recommend for anyone and everyone in the STL area!

Easily the best gym in a 200+ mile spread. They literally have everything you can think of for equipment. From 5 pound dumbbells all the way up to 200 pound dumbbells. Tons of machines with enough weights to not have to wait on weights. Even enough room to use the machine without bumping into other. Super clean all the way around. Very friendly and fun staff especially Joe the owner! Such a cool guy with an amazing attitude even when moving his whole gym. Absolute pleasure to workout here and I look forward to coming back as much as possible as they are now in Chesterfield vs Maryland Heights. Handicap accessible and parking. Showers in the restrooms. Sauna, red room, classes, this place has it all plus some. Even it's own room for power lifting 🫴 💪 Look forward to seeing the new place all put together! Thx for being a pleasure to move Joe. I would have loved a tee-shirt though at the least lol!

House of Pain is the best gym in the area. If you've never been here not only is the equipment exceptional, but you're also able to find like minded people there. If you're serious about your goals and want to be the absolute best you can be then this is the place for you. Also, management always does their best to keep the facility clean and help you the best they can.

Great place to workout. They have all the equipment you can think of. I like the atmosphere, very motivating. They follow covid precautions, but if you don't want to wear a mask you sign a waiver. Member rates are good with no contract. Highly recommend if you're sick of those commercial gyms. Support your small businesses.

This is a lifters gym. Tons and tons of equipment and options for lifting to build muscle. Great decor with all the classic bodybuilders up above for inspiration. I got a day pass and literally tried every machine they had for the back, they had incredible variety and selection. Front desk even had straps to borrow as I forgot my own. Amenities are minimal, do not expect spa like facilities here (it's pretty clear they don't misrepresent this at all). Very clear focus on the fitness equipment. Very happy with the experience overall.

The absolute best gym I have ever been to in my life. Whoever is in charge of the equipment selection clearly knows biomechanics and doesn’t care about the way the machine looks but how it functions for the user. I’m from Louisville Kentucky and I’ll make the trip back for sure!

Best gym in St.Louis with a lot of well maintained equipment. If you want to ramp it up and see results talk to Emmanuel the personal trainer, he will get you right .

I got a membership after going through some tough times and deciding to better myself and get into the gym and this place has been so much more than I could of ever hoped for. Not only have I been able to workout but other members have given me advice, talked with me about it and just have been supportive. Yeah the equipment and facility is awesome but the staff and people that go here are even better. They made me feel like I belonged and that's an awesome feeling when you are down. Highly recommend to anyone and thank you House of Pain for being my escape everyday.

Can I start by saying, “Thank you House of Pain for not blasting background music.” I always hate when gyms blast the background music as each person has their own type of music they work out to best. I am also a fan of the “no sitting on you phone” policy. Most gyms I’ve been to have that one person who don’t just change the music on their phone to get a good pump, but go on social media and take up the equipment for 20 minutes. Also I am so happy that the other members here are so polite and willing to help when hitting new PRs. I am so glad I found a gym that is for my goals and also happy they offer a student discount too. Even though the gym is on the pricier side, it is well worth it.

Awesome gym, got a week pass to try it out but I’m definitely going to be getting a membership. Some of the best equipment in the area and a lot of space. Staff is extremely friendly and equipment is clean and well maintained. If you’re serious about your goals then this is the place.

There honestly is not a better place to workout than house of pain. Had my first workout today after signing up and the atmosphere and equipment is astonishing. And the memberships cost was just too good to turn down. There is something for everyone.

I cannot understate how much I enjoy this gym. It has everything I'd say a good gym needs. The staff is friendly, the equipment is awesome and the gym is perfectly spaced. I highly recommend it to any serious lifter!

This is a great old school gym where you get what you put out of it. It has an intense atmosphere to get anyone psyched up for a good pump i don't even bring my headphones to this gym anymore. The people there all all hard workers and if you want to work harder than ever with some of the best equipment out there this is the place to go. The results will show! I gained 20 lbs of muscle at this gym all natural because I loved going and loved the gym and consistency is key. Best gym experience I've ever had!

👍👍 Got the arctic blitz gatorade at the recommendation of an employee and it was the best decision I’ve made all year. It does in fact taste exactly how it looks. Great drinks, great employees, great vibes, great fun. Oh and great bouldering.

👍👍 I had my 6 year olds birthday party at this location and I am completely blown away at how awesome it was! We had never been here before so I had no clue what to expect but this place is hands down the best. I will start with the fact that I am a procrastinator so booking a party a couple weeks out...
