It felt like you are walking through history and specially Midiaeval one. Arg gave me a vibe of pride. Definitely recommend it.

I visited on March 28, 2019; It's amazing! beautiful ancient building I've never seen something like that before. It's great, many nice spaces, doors and windows from 700 years ago. There are some guides to ask from around the place. It's worth seeing and think about the life style of emperors and kings in the past. There is also the national museum inside the citadel that should be separately paid to watch and another separate payment to take photos.

The place everyone must see in Herat City. It was a great experience with the family exploring the Citadel of Ikhtiaruddin and the Museum.

It was a good place not gonna lie. The only problem was nothing to buy in term of drinks and I got really the thirsty in hot weather. Other things was good and people were friendly.

The history of this place as you see in the picture dates back to 330 BC. It is well-known as Herat Citadel or Citadel of alexander . local people call it qala iIktyaruddin which is at the center of herat . this place was exactly the place where alexander the great and his army settled when they Arrived to Afghanistan after the battle of Gaugamela

This place is incredible and unbelievable. The history of this castle goes back to around 5K BC. The construction of this castle is amazing. It wonderful to see how people back then were so talented to build such a breathtaking castle.

Visiting Herat Citadel is one of the musts. The historical architecture and combination of building materials are unique. Inside the Citadel, you will visit a museum of historical elements. There, in Herat you find kind hearts and hospitality among the citizens. Most of the times there are festivals held inside the Citadel which will make visiting there more exciting with life cultural and local musics. The majestic Herat fort was built during the Alexandrian era. The citadel is still in visibly good condition. Thanks to the local government authorities. Summers could be very harsh here in the outdoors of the citadel. But winters are snowy. A good place to visit for the history lover's. The best time to visit is Monday's. Tickets are cheap.

Very nice and beautiful citadel in heart of Herat city. Around citadel is very nice local bazaar and behind citadel you can bye the best and famous Afgan ice cream. Entrance is 500 Afgan for foreigners and working time in Ramazan is from 9:00-13:00. In other months citadel is open from 9:00-16:00. Closed on Friday

The fort is very beautiful, it takes 1 hour to see the whole fort, Alexander built this fort, the bastions are beautiful, the jail is very beautiful.

This is a very good place for shopping very crowded but still it is fine to walk around and enjoy 😉
