Babur, is a historic park in Kabul, Afghanistan, and also the last resting-place of the first Mughal emperor Babur. The garden are thought to have been developed around 1528 AD (935 AH) when Babur gave orders for the construction of an ‘avenue garden’ in Kabul, described in some detail in his memoirs, the Baburnama. It was the tradition of Moghul princes to develop sites for recreation and pleasure during their lifetime, and choose one of these as a last resting-place. The site continued to be of significance to Babur’s successors, Jehangir and his step-mother, Empress Ruqaiya Sultan Begum (Babur's granddaughter) made a pilgrimage to the site in 1607 AD (1016 AH) when he ordered that all gardens in Kabul be surrounded by walls, that a prayer platform be laid in front of Babur’s grave, and an inscribed headstone placed at its head. During the visit of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638 (1047 AH) a marble screen was erected around tomb of his foster-mother, Ruqaiya Sultan Begum,[2] and a mosque built on the terrace below. There are accounts from the time of the visit to the site of Shah Jahan in 1638 (1047AH) of a stone water-channel that ran between an avenue of trees from the terrace below the mosque, with pools at certain intervals.

(Translated by Google) It is the most historic park located in Kabul. Adults and children can go. It is a historical place and foreigners can also visit it. Babar Garden, Kabul: Babur's Garden, also known as Bagh-e-Babar, has now been turned into a major historical park in Kabul. Babur was built on his orders in the year 6 AD. It was also Babur's last resting place. Babur's order which he had given to his colleagues to build this garden. Memoirs can still be found in the notebook, Babur was buried in the same garden after his death. It was the custom of the Mughal princes to develop the area where they lived when Babur was one of them. It was a very interesting place to sit. Jahangir built a shrine from the place where Babur was buried in the year 6 AH, and Jahangir ordered that the gardens of Kabul should be lined up on the walls if you and I were well informed. Most of Kabul's gardens are surrounded by walls, which have been a tradition since ancient times. Babur's tomb is lined with gold, and a brief introduction to Babur's tomb is placed on a large boulder at the top of the tomb. Written. In the year 6, the Mughal dictator Shah Jahan visited the site and at the same time ordered the officials of the site to cover all the graves in the area with marble stones. A mosque has been built on a terrace below the tomb of Babur. A stall has been set up at the main entrance of the garden to control and sell tickets, which was used for this purpose in the time of Shah Jahangir. There was a canal (pavilion) paved on a tego between a path and a terrace, and lambd ponds were built in different parts of the canal. These piers pass under the terrace on which the mosque is built. This is historical place. During civil war in Afghanistan, it was totally destroyed but after collapse of Taliban regime and coming of a sustainable and suitable environment, this place is restored and rebuilt by the assistance of AKTC (Aga Khan Trust for Culture) one of AKDN's (Aga Khan Development Network) agency. Now it is a place to get relaxed and enjoyed both nature and rich culture and history. It is a very big Garden with different areas in it. It is a public park. There is a museum inside of garden. There is a restaurant and some other facilities...

Very nice indeed. Foreign tourists pay a 350A entrance fee. The grounds are very well maintained by the Agha Khan Trust and upon exiting the initial courtyard, and once amongst the sizable gardens, there is a small tea house to the right (adjacent to the children playground) and another small "cafe" which only serves milk and some snacks to the left. Upon ascending the grounds towards the palace and Babur's Tomb (both of which you are permitted to enter with security) you will find another small cafe within the pavilion which is the best one. It is perfectly situated for tea abs biscuits. Would recommend to all. ☕🙏

Bagh-e Babur Garden (built 1528 onward) The Bagh-e Babur garden is the final resting place of the first Mughal Emperor, Babur. Although present-day Afghanistan was not Babur's original homeland (he was born in Ferghana in present-day Uzbekistan), he felt sufficiently enamoured of Kabul that he desired to be buried here. When Babur died in 1530 he was initially buried in Agra against his wishes. Between 1539 and 1544 Sher Shah Suri, a rival of Babur's son Humayun, fulfilled his wishes and interred him at Babur's Garden. The headstone placed on his grave read "If there is a paradise on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this."

I had the pleasure of visiting the historic Babur Gardens in Kabul and it was a truly fascinating experience. The gardens, also known as Bagh-e Babur, are located in the Sher Darwaza hillside of District 5, southwest of Shahr-e Naw. The site is home to several terraced buildings, a small mosque, and ample walking space. Upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly security personnel who made me feel welcome and ensured a safe and enjoyable visit. The atmosphere of the gardens is peaceful and serene, offering a refreshing escape from the bustling city. The highlight of my visit was exploring the tomb of the first Mughal emperor, Babur, which is located within the gardens. It was a humbling experience to be in the presence of such historical significance. The gardens themselves have a rich history, believed to have been developed around 1504 by Babur himself. Over the centuries, the site has been redeveloped by various Afghan rulers, adding to its cultural and architectural significance. As I strolled through the gardens, I couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful terraces and the lush greenery that surrounds them. The attention to detail in the design and layout is truly remarkable. It was evident that the gardens were created not only for aesthetic purposes but also as a place of recreation and solace. Babur Gardens attract a large number of visitors, both locals and foreigners, with up to one million people exploring its beauty each year. It's easy to see why it remains a popular destination. The gardens offer a tranquil retreat where one can appreciate the historical heritage and natural beauty of Kabul. During my visit, I discovered the significance of the site to Babur's successors. Even Emperor Jahangir made a pilgrimage to the gardens in 1607, leaving his mark by ordering the construction of walls around all the gardens in Kabul. A marble screen was later erected around Babur's tomb by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, further enhancing the beauty and reverence of the site. I highly recommend a visit to Babur Gardens for anyone interested in history, culture, and serene natural surroundings. It's a place where the past comes alive, offering a glimpse into the rich legacy of the Mughal empire and the beauty of Afghan architecture. If you have the opportunity to explore Babur Gardens, don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in this enchanting oasis. The well-maintained gardens, friendly atmosphere, and awe-inspiring historical significance make it a must-visit destination in Kabul.

I went at Babur Garden today, Arafat day in 2022. Price 350 Afgani per person. Beautiful garden. Very well maintained. A guard accompanied us the whole time and let us enter in the Babur tomb (there are 2 other small ones, son and grandchild) and in the Queen palace (they were locked). Very pleasant hour spent there! Definitely one of the most attractive places in Kabul. There's is also a museum which we will visit next time.

In my ignorance I had it in my mind that Kabul and Afganistan were desert areas covered in sand and barren landscapes. It just goes to show how wrong you can be and seeing these and other pictures of the areas I am totally amazed at the amount of greenery there is. I would like to thank Google and the people who take these pictures for opening my eyes. It would be nice to go and see it for myself but unfortunately this will not happen.

Historical and World Heritage site in Kabul. Final resting place of First Moghal Emperor of Hindustan (Modern day India) Zahiruddin Mohammed Babur. The Garden was devolped around 1528 AD (935AH) on the orders of Babur as an "Avenue Garden". Babur has mentioned about it in his memoires "Babur Nama". Originally the garden was constructed for rest and recreation but Babur willed for his burial after his death. Accordingly he was buried there.

(Translated by Google) The Green Gardens of Babur, by order of Sultan Gurkhani Zahiruddin Mohammad Babar, when he conquered Kabul in 1504, is one of the few recreational and historical sites in Afghanistan that survived and was restored during the war years. Babar Garden is located at the foot of Shir Darvazeh Mountain, which is known as the entrance of Kabul. This beautiful mountain is located in the middle of Kabul city and the Kabul River flows to the west of this mountain. Babar Garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is approximately 11 hectares and is the largest public space in Kabul. They cut down all the fruit in the garden and cut down its trees and used them for firewood, but over time the looting ended. This garden ends from the steeper slope of the mountain to its lower slope with short and continuous stairs with 15 steps. In addition to the natural beauties, a caravanserai made of clay and mud is located at the beginning of its entrance. Caravanserai The tomb of King Babur, the Queen's Palace and a beautiful mosque are also located in this garden, which has added to the charm of Babar Park. History of Babar Garden: The construction of Babar Garden is not known and it is thought that the construction of the garden started today in 1528, but we know that Babar came to Afghanistan in 910 AH or 1504 AD and used the foothills of Mount Shir as a summer and regional summer resort It is believed that Babur had instructed that his body be buried in this area and that the garden be built on his orders. The Aga Khan Institute was developed, the style of construction of this garden is Islamic architecture, an architecture that has many concepts, religious meanings and secrets, this garden has been compared with the architecture of some Iranian and Indian gardens, especially the gardens of Shiraz Dating back to the Mongol era, they are very similar in appearance to Babur Garden. There is only a hint of the original designer and builder of the Babur mausoleum and mosque, and he is known as Charles Masson, a British soldier who was once completely destroyed by an earthquake and once Wars have been somewhat destroyed and rebuilt. Babur Garden has changed a lot over time. At first it was only a small place for kings to rest and the public was not allowed to enter it, but over time it has become more modern and can not be compared with the original Babar Garden, so the history of this garden It can give us an overview of the progress and ups and downs of Afghanistan's multi-year architecture.

The original construction date of the gardens is unknown. When Babur captured Kabul in 1504 from the Arguns he re-developed the site and used it as a guest house for special occasions, especially during the summer seasons. Since Babur had such a high rank, he would have been buried in a site that befitted him. The garden where it is believed Babur requested to be buried in is known as Bagh-e Babur. Mughul rulers saw this site as significant and aided in further development of the site and other tombs in Kabul. In an article written by the Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme, describes the marble screen built around tombs by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638 with the following inscription: "only this mosque of beauty, this temple of nobility, constructed for the prayer of saints and the epiphany of cherubs, was fit to stand in so venerable a sanctuary as this highway of archangels, this theatre of heaven, the light garden of the godforgiven angel king whose rest is in the garden of heaven, Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur the Conqueror." Although the additions of the screens by Shah Jahan contained references to Babur, Salome Zajadacz-Hastenrath, in her article "A Note on Babur's Lost Funerary and Enclosure at Kabul"suggests that Shah Jahan's work transformed Bagh-e Babur into a graveyard. She states that a "mosque was built on the thirteenth terrace, the terrace nearest to Mecca; the next, the fourteenth terrace, was to contain the funerary enclosure of Babur's tomb and the tombs of some of his male relatives." This transformation towards a proper graveyard, with an enclosure around Babur's tomb, points towards the importance of Babur. By enclosing Babur's tomb, Shah Jahan separates the tomb of the Emperor from others.

The picturesque location of the Babur Garden among the vicinity of the hills makes it an exotic destination for the tourists and visitors. Though it suffered some damages and dismantling during the brutal Taliban reign. But now the new government has restored it's magnificence. The greenery during spring and summer season is attractive. The snow covered premises during winters is really athing to be self experience. It gives immense pleasure to be here in the garden. It's worth a visit and for the money too.

Babur Garden in Kabul, Afghanistan, is an enchanting sanctuary that seamlessly blends history, art, and natural beauty. Stepping into this historic haven, I was captivated by the meticulously manicured landscapes, adorned with colorful flowers and ancient trees. The garden, commissioned by Emperor Babur in the early 16th century, offers a glimpse into the Mughal era's architectural grandeur. The terraced layout, flowing water channels, and symmetrical design create a harmonious atmosphere for contemplation and leisure. The preserved structures within, such as Babur's tomb and the mosque, resonate with the echoes of bygone centuries. The elevated vantage points provide breathtaking views of Kabul's cityscape, enhancing the overall sensory experience. Babur Garden is not just a horticultural marvel; it's a living museum that transports visitors through time. The garden's restoration efforts have ensured its continued splendor, inviting both locals and tourists to appreciate its cultural significance. The juxtaposition of vibrant flowers against the ancient stone structures makes every corner a photographic delight. Whether seeking a peaceful retreat or a historical exploration, Babur Garden in Kabul is a testament to the enduring allure of nature and architectural legacy in the heart of Afghanistan's capital.

(Translated by Google) The original date of construction of the garden is unknown. When Babur died at 5 p.m. He captured Kabul and rebuilt the place and used it as a guest house for special ceremonies, especially during the summer seasons. Since Babur had such a high rank, he would have been buried in a corner that suited him. The garden where Babur is believed to have requested his burial is known as Bagh-Babar. This aspect of the Mughal rulers became significant and helped in the development of the area and other tribes in Kabul. Babur was buried in this garden according to his will (Original)

Bagh-e Babur (Dari: باغ بابر), also known as Gardens of Babur, is a historic site in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is located in the Sher Darwaza hillside of District 5, southwest of Shahr-e Naw, or a short distance south of Kabul Zoo and north of Chihil Sutun. The gardens of Babur has several terraced buildings, a small mosque, and plenty of walking space. Visited by up to one million locals and foreign tourists a year, it is also where the tomb of the first Mughal emperor Babur is located. The park is thought to have been developed around 1504, when Babur gave orders for the construction of an "avenue garden" in Kabul, described in some detail in his memoirs, the Baburnama. It has been re-developed by various Afghan rulers since then.It was the tradition of Mughal princes to develop sites for recreation and pleasure during their lifetime and later choose one of these as their last resting place. The site continued to be of significance to Babur's successors; Jahangir made a pilgrimage to the site in 1607, when he ordered that all gardens in Kabul be surrounded by walls, that a prayer platform be laid in front of Babur's grave, and an inscribed headstone placed at its head. During the visit of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638, a marble screen was erected around the tomb of Babur, and a mosque built on the terrace below. There are accounts from the time of the visit to the site of Shah Jahan in 1638 of a stone water channel that ran between an avenue of trees from the terrace below the mosque, with pools at certain intervals.
