The hotel is 4 stars, it would have been 5 but all the staff at night was Very Rude (except the men out front) & the dinner items weren't the greatest. A female staff member in the dinning room at night was Extremely Rude & wouldn't let us choose our own table & forced us to sit at one we didn't want to even though there was Only Two other tables taken with people sitting down. What changed my review around Completely was the staff this morning was So friendly & so nice, the breakfast was delicious & the coffee was excellent!

BEWARE!!! I will be reviewing this hotel as one star on every website so that they may lose business in excess of the charges they fraudulently added to our bill. Also, the rooms smell like MILDEW!! Upon check out there was a 120 euro charge on our bill that they could not tell us why it was added. The person at the front desk said it was for an extra person, but our room was booked initially with two people at the stated price and there was no mention of extra charges at check in. The room itself was not very clean when we arrived. There was hair that was not ours in the bed, the white grout in the shower had moldy looking stains everywhere, and the floors around the perimeter of the rooms and under the bed was filthy... and worst of all the room reeked of mildew. The housekeeping came the next day and cleaned and so that aspect was better moving forward, but should have never been that way to begin with. The air conditioner had a constant smell of mildew coming out of it for which a technician came to change the filter but it still stunk and then rattled constantly after the "repair". They had clearly left it dirty for so long that a filter change was not enough to mitigate the excess mildew. The breakfast and the rest of the hotel were nice, but our experience of the room quality and unethical charges left me DISGUSTED with this hotel.

This hotel can potentially be a five-star, but unfortunately, they need many things to fix. First of all, the reception is the rudest I have ever seen. I booked two rooms, and I paid for them through Expedia. The girl in the reception demanded to pay for the second room, but I had already paid for it through the application. She never apologized, and she kept being ironic. The rooms need a minor renovation. Other than that, the location is great, and the hotel is excellent. But the management should be training their staff. They have to learn what professional behavior is.

An excellent hotel that is well kept and managed ; fantastic service ; and located perfectly. The restaurant is very good, and the night club on the first floor was fun- though not very busy during our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

After just having a disappointing stay during our trip to Rome, this hotel is already a great relief and we are just on our first night of stay. The moment we hopped off the cab from the airport, the Divani Caravel hotel greeted us with an expansive lobby which looks modern and very clean. See the pictures. We got a room at the 4th floor facing the back of the hotel, not so much a great view but the room itself makes up for it. The room is quite spacious with big beds, adequate lighting and a big desk for your computers. The floor is designed and built with what looks like real wood and not laminate. Point is its NOT covered with carpets which typically looks yucky and smelly. The bathroom is supplied with amenities including free toothbrush, vanity set and shaving kit. Last but not the least, the FRONT DESK STAFF are VERY WELCOMING even though we checked-in at almost midnight. I will update this since we will be staying here for five nights. Will check the breakfast place and pool tomorrow as well as the other facilities in the hotel. With all the great things I mentioned above plus the fact that it's about a 30 minute walk to the Acropolis, THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY AT WHEN IN ATHENS.

The room was not clean, there was hair and dirt left there when we checked in and the room is very out of date. The ac unit was rattling at all times and the bed springs were popping all night. They tried to add $150 in extra bs charges, watch out for these crooks if you stay here. Also the area is poor with not many stores or good food. Look elsewhere

As you walk in to the immaculate entrance you expect the same throughout the hotel. The motifs remain the same but the same elegance does not extend beyond the common places. The rooms are decent but definitely need some updating. The rooftop pool and view are very cool, in fact, the pool is very brisk and needs to be cleaned better. Breakfast opens at 7. If you aren't here for a tour you may be surround by people on a tour as this is where at least 2 tour groups use to stay. Breakfast is a huge buffet. Filled with the usual and delicious though probably better to get there early before all the touchy feely people do.

This hotel has Excellent Hospitality Service! You will be welcomed by the Bell service team with a BIG SMILE, very eager to take all your belongings and store it then deliver to your room at your convenience. Upon entering the hotel, the reception team was very quick and precise. I received my keys within 2 minutes after giving my passport and credit card and off I go to my room. The bell team will safely deliver all your luggage and belongings as soon as you are done with the check-in. It is an old hotel but they have refurbished it and put some modern touch to it. It's nice and clean with quality soaps and shampoos. Their breakfast has 2 locations with a good variety of international and local breakfast dishes. Everyday was a good day to have breakfast in this hotel. Whenever I had a question or needed help about little or big things, the staff took time to listen and address my question or concern as best they can. I traveled with my clients here and I did not receive any complaint which is a rare thing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL! Great job Mr. Arvantis!

Where should I start. Good sides are that the staff is very polite and professional. They're really doing their best! Everything else, from the quality of the products used for preparing food to the old, tiny, cigar smelling rooms was very bad. Our room was so small we couldn't open our suitcase, it was booked for two adults with a baby and we barely fit in.

Great Location… Clean.. Staff are great other than recipients very old style… need major renovation… I asked if triple room fits three adults and they said yes… but when they fixed the extra bed it wasn’t possible to move in the room… I went back to the reception not to argue but to ask to upgrade to a bigger room not minding what it will cost but since it was 12 am they said they don’t have room service available at that hour and we have to wait till the next morning.. I had no other choice but to book another room.. the AC was switched off in the new room for some reason I had to call them to come and fix it … there is no Iron and you can’t request one as they don’t provide that service.. the curtains are not blackout and don’t block sunlight at all … this is three star hotel at best from international perspective.

The hotel is supposed to be a 5 stars: there is no reception over night! If you unfortunately decide to go with your kids prepare yourself to have to lift the stroll at the entrance any single time, to walk over the stairs, etc. The room and the services are fine, but the culture of taking care of the clients is virtually none. A big hotel whiteout anything special and, for being in Greece, very expensive.

I would give this hotel 0 stars if I could. First there was over an hour wait to check in. Once I went to the front staff (Alexis helped me) he was nice at first. I got my 2 rooms and the one room was OCCUPIED! I go down he now has an attitude changes my rooms and AGAIN the one room is OCCUPIED WITH PEOPLES BELONGINGS. When I go down to complain Alexis has an attitude with me and the “manager” Achielles is just telling me to calm down instead of actually helping me. It took over 2.5 hours to get my rooms. The service is absolutely horrendous. For a hotel and country that survive on tourism it was absolutely ridiculous the way we were treated. Another customer even had it out with the front staff and manager. RUN FAR FROM THIS HOTEL SO NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!

Great Hotel 5 Stars but sadly the beds in the room were most definitely not 5 Star, We had 2 twins made to look like a Queen that kept moving apart, mattress was uncomfortable and the pillow was flat. I have slept at better beds in a Motel

I recently had the displeasure of staying at the Divani Hotel, and I must say, it was an utterly disappointing experience. The so-called "luxury" that this establishment boasts is nothing more than a facade. First and foremost, the pool situation is a complete joke. Despite advertising itself as a top-tier hotel, Divani apparently hasn't caught on to the fact that heating pools is a standard amenity. The freezing temperatures rendered the pool completely useless, turning what should have been a relaxing swim into a shivering ordeal. I don't know about you, but when I book a hotel with a pool, I expect to be able to use it without the risk of hypothermia. Moving on to the room service, it was nothing short of a disaster. We ordered a simple meal, thinking it wouldn't take an eternity to arrive. Little did we know, we were in for a wait of epic proportions. Forty-five minutes later, our lukewarm and uninspiring food finally arrived. The delay left us wondering if the kitchen staff were preparing the ingredients from scratch or embarking on a cross-country expedition to source them. The lack of urgency and efficiency in the room service department is inexcusable for a hotel that claims to offer a premium experience. Waiting nearly an hour for a meal is not my idea of a seamless and enjoyable stay. In conclusion, if you enjoy subpar amenities, freezing pool experiences, and marathon waits for room service, then Divani Hotel is the perfect destination for you. For the rest of us seeking a truly luxurious and well-managed accommodation, I suggest looking elsewhere. Divani Hotel has a long way to go before it lives up to its self-proclaimed reputation.

Well located in the major city centre. The front staff were kind but the person who wanted to check the mini-bar entered our room without our permission. He just walked in unannounced. As he noticed we were there he declared what his intentions were and left. The room was very clean and the pillow menu was a nice touch. The service in the restaurant and pool side bar was very good. The walls were very thin. We heard any noise made in the hallway making it challenging to fall asleep.

Positive: i went to the „bar/restaurant „ and the 2 ladies doing the service were friendly and amazing. Negative: 1. the manager was smoking between the tables , and got very upset when i told him that he could smoke outside the hotel, question of respect for the clients. ( i am not paying a 5 stars hotel to breath some smoke) . The worst is that he told me that he is allowed to do … well.. 2. there were many people using the pool but not staying in the hotel and they are allowed to use the pool until it closes… the problem is that i had no chair to lay … This is not respectful for the clients that stay overnight. my advice , pay less and choose a hotel without a pool ( anyway you won’t get to use it) or pay more and get a real 5 stars hotel.

I have to say, 5his is not my cup of coffee. Posh, old fashion hotel.... You should look around you to do not behave in appropriate. But one of the best roof swimming pool and bar.

I stayed at the Divani Caravel hotel for three nights and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is modern, elegant, and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped. The service is polite, friendly, and helpful. The gym is nice, although a bit small, and the food was fantastic. The breakfast buffet had a lot of variety and quality. The rooftop pool and bar had amazing views of the city and the Acropolis. The only downside of the hotel is that it is a bit far from the main attractions of Athens. You need to take a taxi, a bus, or the metro to get to the historical sites, museums, and shopping areas. However, the hotel staff can help you arrange transportation and give you tips on what to see and do in the city. Overall, I would recommend the Divani Caravel hotel to anyone who is looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Athens. It is a great value for money and a wonderful experience.

I’ve stayed at a few “4 star hotels” in and around Athens and all of them were nicer and more updated than the Divani. This hotel shows its age from the moldy tiles and grout to the broken fixtures in the room. Due to its size, the staff is friendly enough but lack the warmth and vibrancy I’ve experienced at other hotels. For the money, I recommend finding a boutique hotel where the emphasis is on quality, cleanliness and personalized service.

Nice hotel. It's in the downtown core of Athens, so lots of traffic around, a few nice restaurants but nothing much else to close by. Loved that the had robes to use. Rooms were decent.

Our family stay would have been rated 5 stars but with one exception. In our room we noticed we did not have an iron and reached out to front desk to request one and was rudely denied one. There solution was to provide all our clothes that needs pressing or ironing to room service which is truly unacceptable and unnecessary us. Front desk also stated that they did not have enough irons for all the rooms. REALLY!! We just needed a quick ironing for some of our clothes since they had been pressed tightly in our suit case. Other than this the place was great it was about a 10 min walk to train or bus to go to all major attractions which where about another 10 min or less.

Place looks good as you walk in the door, however the rooms are very dated. Throw pillows left on the bed in non smoking room smelt like cigarettes which made me question the overall standard of cleanliness (this was my second room). Also we did not have a good experience with the staff we interacted with . Requested extra pillows mid afternoon, non had arrived by midnight so called again asking when they would be ready. We were then questioned on the amount we requested (3x pillows) only to get a blunt response “it depends when we have somebody on staff” before the hanging up immediately. I would not recommend staying here based on experience.

I must say that my second stay at your hotel was even better than the first time. This time my husband and I were going on a cruise and I was glad to see once again familiar faces such as Antonis who was a great help with our many heavy luggage. He's indeed kind yet has a great sense of humor. You don't see much of that nowadays in people when it regards porterage service. Needless to say the staff was very friendly once again and that made our trip worthwhile.

Decent place, very outdated in general. Reasonable breakfast. Location good. Tub/ shower is very awkward with access. Borderline dangerous. Be prepared to ascend several stairs with your luggage. No ramp. No bellman for our party of 12. Heavy luggage and 2 sets of stairs, very outdated. Staff very nice. Facility just past prime w no obvious updates.

Luxurious hotel. Facilities are great. Morning breakfast are very varieties including Greek desserts. Location is closed but not too closed to tourist attractions. You can walk to metro and catch a train to acropolis in 1 stop. Surrounding environment is safe. There’re many restaurants and cafe around.

I have never met a more caring and interested hotel staff. They treat their guests with such care and respect, and the best part is all equally. My dad has been both a paying guest and a visiting crew member and they bend over backwards regardless of status. I have been here so many times and will continue to come back! Best hotel ever! (Thank you to Konstantino and Aggelina from the front desk, and Xenia from hospitality).

Decent large scale but dated hotel. Very grand space, but shows its age. Desk clerk at 3am check in was not the most welcoming - after hours of waiting at the airport for a delayed flight of which I did not make since I was going to miss my connecting flight home. This is where the airline put me up for the night at no cost, so can't really complain.

5 star hotel Good location 20 mints walk. Nice lobby, few nice bars, excellent and top class roof top pool and bar. Very clean, staff are very helpful, breakfast area and choice are good Room slight outdated but spacious and very comfortable beds. By UK standard this is probably a 4 start but that just a general thing when you booking for any hotel in Greece

Just 5 minutes taxi ride from the hustle and bustle of Central Athens and the Acropolis. This hotel offers fabulous buffet breakfast in a gorgeous ancient Greek restaurant, very comfortable beds and fully assisted concierge and doormen. It has a rooftop bar and pool with views over Athens and the Acropolis.

We loved the hotel the location is fantastic and the view from the roof is spectacular.Xenia the lady at the concerge desk was a huge help planning our days and events. Excellent hotel. Rooftop pool area very nice with a wonderful view of Acropolis. Convenient location to the conference we attended but 30 minute walk to Acropolis and Agora areas. But a quick taxi ride will get you there in 10m. Rooms were clean, staff friendly and food was excellent (breakfast and dinners).

The Divani Caravel Hotel advertises as a 5 star hotel on both Google Maps and Trip Advisor. My review is based on the hotel performing as a 5 star hotel. According to CNET and other prominent travel sites a 5 Star hotel is defined as, "The ultimate luxury stay — the highest level of comfort, service and facilities". The Divani Caravel Hotel falls way short of this level of service and comfort. Although the staff is friendly the rooms are very dated and sparse. The bathrooms was dark and badly in need of a renovation. The bathroom floor has an additional drain under the sink, which is great for overflows, but mine actually backed up into the bathroom every time I took a shower. The hotel itself is in a quieter section of Athens a bit of a walk to the Acropolis and the main metro stop of Syntagma, the center of town. If this hotel had advertised as a 4 Star hotel I would have rated it a level higher. If it was advertised as a 3 Star hotel I would have given it a top rating. In my opinion this is more like a 3.5 Star and certainly not anywhere close to a 5 star.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say, the staff are truly amazing. Their hospitality and attentiveness made my stay exceptionally pleasant. Top-notch service! Kudos to all of them for making my experience memorable!

It is definitely not a 5 star hotel. 4 star maximum. The hotel is a bit old fashioned and would need a big renovation. +: staff quality, bathroom, room view to acropolis -: room are not well soundproofed. I could hear the people walking from the room above or the street noise

I have to say, its the best hotel so far in athens, not to overpriced and the rooms are clean. The roof pool is excellent! What a view! But most importantly is the service 10/10, greatest waiter at the pool! Thanks for letting me try the mountain thee! I will definitely come back!

Far from a 5 star, more like a bad quality 3 star. - old outed interior - bad service and lack of attention - breakfast was a disappointment - very noisy, walls in bedroom are paper thin and can hear everything outside - have to ask to get room cleaned Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel, maybe 20yrs ago but not now. Needs a lot of attention!

Greek owned classic 1980s business hotel close to the stunning national gallery and excellent restaurants — with a rooftop pool and small gym. If you can, splurge for one of their corner suites — some with acropolis views! Friendly service, but also mix of styles. Excellent breakfast, but try avoiding the minibar: 200 ml sparkling water sets you back 7 Euro 💶. I took a star off because the street noise and lack of sound-proofing makes it hard to get a restful night unless you are a deep sleeper or use earplugs.

I find all departments from concierge reception housekeeping, very professional in their approach to guests, Food & Beverage department need training in customer service. room service the worst department I have experienced in any hotel. I am staying 10 days and up until today the 6th day i have had to call down to replenish coffee etc including cups 4 times. housekeeping removes the dirty and room service doesn't replace them. mini bar has never been replenished with water in the 6 days ive been here, today room service brought clean cups after my report again to reception and from the moment I requested cups until they arrived was 43 minutes waiting time. there are so many hotels in central Athens avoid this one cause you pay 5 start prices for 3 star service.

D+ score for the price. Cons - Pool wasn't heated, shuttle service wasn't available, sauna wasn't working. Breakfast that was said to be included cost 29 euros, only had 2 out of 3 beds in the room for my family. Positives - The room's air conditioning worked, 1.5 miles from acropolis, and the staff was friendly.

The room we were in was dingy. There was a window, which faced the back of some old apt. Building... the view was of clothes being hung to dry. The toilet actually rocked was afraid it might break. The shower door was so close to sink that you needed to maneuver in strange ways to get into the showr.

Room was perfectly clean, showers were great the staff very helpful and welcoming. The food was good at both breakfast and the time we ate dinner in the evening. The only reason I give it 4 stars is due to the check in time took a long time for us due to them only having one person at the desk and people in front taking a long time and also the WIFI was slow on many occasion but apart from that would definitely stay again. The location is slightly out the main centre but staff on hand to help get a taxi incredibly quickly

I upped the overall star rating because of the friendly and professional front of desk staff. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Although a 5 star hotel the room was spartan but adequate. However, housekeeping lacked attention to detail. Anything used, apart from towels and toiletries, was taken and not replaced, for example water glasses, bathroom bin liner, tea and coffee sachets. Overall if you are staying for 1 night on business or in transit the hotel is fine, for anything longer it is below expected standards.

  • 3/5 M S. 1 year ago on Google
I was there on holiday but this felt more like a business hotel. There were no decent views from our room which was blocked by another building. The two pillows in the room were too soft. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful. In terms of location, it was not too bad as the Evagelismos underground station was only a 7 minute walk away.

This hotel has everything you may need. It looks like a luxury hotel. The services were excellent. I was there for a conference and everything were covered up. The hotel is near 500m from the metro station line 2 (blue line). Just outside there is a playground if you have kids and a basketball field with free entrance. Also, at 50m from the entrance there is the bus line 224. I hope I get there soon again.
