One of the best restaurants I have visited in Athens. There are 3 floors of seating, including the terrace which literally the decoration transfer you to another era, closer to 1950’s. The menu is different every day which can only be a good sign. Many options of small plates including many vegetarian options. Semi-sweet wine was going down too quickly, it was really good. We were challenged by the waiter that we ordered too much but we actually managed. I will be back, the music, the food, the service and atmosphere were all top notch, so I cannot recommend it enough.

We went for lunch, the place was empty and it was utterly disappointing. The Dakos salad was tasteless. Not the husk bread, nor the tomatoes has any taste. No seasoning, nothing. Tha pasta with smoked chicken was passable. The service was good and they gave some sweets from the house.

As a year of living in Chalandri has come to a close, I cannot recommend Mpakalotaverna enough. This place has become our “food home” for many reasons. The food is phenomenal, price and quality wise. Everything is so fresh and the servers always have good suggestions. But our favorite aspect of this place is the welcoming staff. They will do everything to make sure your short time with them is perfect. Do not overlook this taverna, it is a must visit.

They serve you also a "kerasma" at the end most of the times something sweet like halva.

The place is made to look like an old tavern in the centre of an old town/village which makes it different and unique. That is its strongest feature. Service was good but there is plenty of room for improvement when it comes to the food...One the other hand , you will not be disappointed.

We were occasionally near to Mpakalotaverna and decide to have a dinner there. Now this one of our favorite place to eat. Dishes were such delicious and various. You could eat a lot of different food, not just grill as is most part of places for tourists only. As well atmosphere is very nice. You could found a lot of interesting thing as a decoration inside.

Traditional taverna, you can feel the geek spirit here. I would definitely return.
