Had a lovely stay on this island, beautiful resort, lovely port towns, nice people and amazing food. I have visited a few of the Greek islands and this is now one of my favorites. If you have A chance I would really recommend to combine a visit of a few days in Athens which is less than one hour away via a speedboat.

It's a beautiful place to visit for the day It's super easy to visit, just download ferryhopper and buy your tickets! Takes 40 min to 1 hour and then I'd reccomend hiring some bikes and cycling around the island a bit. It's super cheap. So many nice restaurants and lovely beaches to visit and it's just super beautiful. The town of aegina has so many lovely shops selling Pistachios and lots of local stuff! It's just a really good idea to visit if you're in Athens and want to see some lovely island views

Had a nice stay with our group, definitely worth trying out different foods, and rent a quad or car to go around the island. Lots of Romanias on the island, so if you speak the language you even have more advantages. Overall a super nice place the beach could be more clear and watch out for the season prices

The Greek island of Aegina is magical, and often overlooked because people want to travel to Hydra, Santorini, Mykonos, etc. We chose Aegina for two reasons. First it is the closest island to the Athens port of Piraeus, and the high speed ferry ride was only 40 minutes each way. Second, Aegina is called the "pistachio" island - and I LOVE pistachios! We did a day trip and took the ferry at 10:30, and then took the ferry back to Athens at 3:30. Believe it or not it was just enough time to walk to and tour the Temple of Apollo ruins (highly recommended for pictures of the ocean and island from a high vantage point), walk through the downtown and shop, and also grab one of the best lunches we had on the entire vacation at Nisos - right across from the pier. We even had time to take a 20 minute carriage ride, which was wonderful! There are plenty of places to rent a moped, ATV, or car on the island (and another ruin on the other side), but the length of our day trip was just right for us. Be sure to visit Aegina if you want some leisurely island time that's a little less 'crazy' than the busy ones crawling with tourists. You will like it!

Aegina really stole my heart, this is a beautiful picturesque island with lovely people and beaches. The taxis here are really cheap (€20 to bring is to the other side of the island). The pistachios are the best ones out there, especially the pistachio liquor and butter. All kinds of restaurants, lots of seafood (try the squid!). They have great local beer & greece beer. Try Mythos, the best one out there. Really cozy eating at evening and super romantic. We also went to Aegia Marina and Moni island, also worth a visit! I’ll come back for sure

Definitely an island to do, since its not far from Athens by boat. if u wanna explore a bit and enjoy fully more than just the restaurants in front of the port : rent a quad or a scooter (25-30euros a day). Worth it

Lovely place and easy to reach. Ferries from Athens coming every hour. Prices depend in the Ferry's speed (from 40 to 90 min one way) from 10€ ti 40€. Views are stunning! Take advantage of the local produce and buy pistachios here,as prices are doubled in the Airport.

Aegina might be the centre of the universe. There isn’t space here to explain, but after you get to know the place,…

A very nice and simple day trip from Athens. Take the metro to Piraeus, grab a ferry (the slower and cheaper ones are better!), then stroll around. Worthwhile to taxi to the Temple of Aphaia or rent a bike or scooter to get there.

Loved this island, we took the horse ride to see it. It was amazing, the food, the people, the beaches, the vibes. Highly recommended and eat pistachio 😍

Beautiful, unspoiled Island, full of authentic charme. Visiting the 2500 year old temple of Aphaia in the middle of the island is a must.

I'm sure pictures will shown what I'm not able to describe with words. I never imagine such a powerful place, the fishing ports, people, monasteries, hills, view, beaches, etc... I fully recommend go there and recharge the soul! I'll be back of course.

We took the ferry from Piraeus for about €25 each (return). The ferry company say it takes an hour but its actually more like 1.5 hours. The island itself is ok, however a lot of views are occluded by unfinished real estate projects that have been left abandoned. We did visit in off season which means a lot of places are closed. Good hiking but no sandy beaches.

What a beautiful island! Sandy beaches, excellent food from all the restaurants we visited and a promenade that is vibrant during the day and night.

We left behind the Cyclades archipelago and arrived in the beautiful Saronic islands, in the Gulf of Argo-Saronic, very close to Athens. The architecture, specific to the Cyclades, is also changing, the streets are no longer so narrow and white, the houses have orange tile roofs. What has not changed is the food, just as delicious in any part of Greece. The archipelago consists of seven main islands and several smaller islands. The inhabited islands are: • Aegina (Aegina), the first capital of modern Greece; • Agistri, the smallest island in Argosaronic Bay; • Methana with thermal springs that have therapeutic properties; • Porous, green island, covered with pine forests; • The cosmopolitan Hydra, which attracts many artists; • Spetses quiet, relaxing, idyllic for romantic vacations; • The largest and most populous salamis, here being more than half of the population of the archipelago. The Saronic Islands are connected to mainland Greece by ferries from Piraeus and Penopolis. The islands attract a large number of tourists, and not only. Many mainland Greeks have holiday homes in the Saronic Islands. Forum Greece
