Ahobilam is a town and religious place in the Allagadda mandal of the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is surrounded by the Eastern Ghats' scenic hills, which include various mountain peaks and canyons. Many generations of kings from the Cholas, Chalukyas, and Vijayanagara kingdoms have revered this massive old temple. Built amid the backdrop of the magnificent and picturesque Nallamala Forest by the Vijayanagara Empire. The path to this location should be improved so that devotees can arrive on time.

Lakshmi narasimhaswamy temple situated in the foothills. A big temple for narasimhar maintained by ahobilam mutt. Neatly maintained. Important function is vaikunda ekadhasi. Peaceful place. A nice temple in a village. No big hotels or resorts. You can eat freely in annadhana mandapams.

The Ahobilam Narasimha temples in Andhra Pradesh, India, offered a divine and enchanting pilgrimage experience that transcended the realms of spirituality and nature. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, we embarked on a transformative journey spanning multiple days. The temples, nestled amid the scenic beauty of the Eastern Ghats, were nothing short of awe-inspiring. As we traversed through lush green landscapes and picturesque vistas, we felt a deep connection with nature and the divine. The serenity of the surroundings added to the sacred ambiance of the pilgrimage center. The architectural marvels of the Narasimha temples left us spellbound. Each temple exuded a unique charm, with intricate carvings and elaborate sculptures narrating timeless tales of mythology and devotion. Beyond the spiritual significance, this trip also offered us a soul-stirring nature expedition. Exploring the bountiful Eastern Ghats, we relished the opportunity to witness the region's rich biodiversity and cherish moments of tranquility. The Ahobilam Narasimha temples stand as a remarkable testament to the fusion of faith and nature's grandeur. Om Namo Lakshmi Narasimha Swamine Namaha The demon king Hiranyakashyapu who was a Lord Vishnu hater turned extremely troublesome to his own son ‘Prahllada’. As Prahallada was a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu and felt his presence everywhere he tried to kill his son in various ways such as throwing him in the sea, pushing him from the hilltop, tying him in a room full of snakes, leaving him stamped by a drugged elephant, etc. But Lord Vishnu saved him every time. Once Prahallada advises and challenges his father regarding Lord Vishnu’s existence everywhere across the infinite universe, in every smallest particle of all living and nonliving things. Hearing this Hiranyakashipu points out to a lifeless pillar and asks his son if his Lord Vishnu is inside this dummy pillar. Prahllad says, yes he surely is. Hiranyakashipu then says if so I will kick this pillar and let me see if your Vishnu actually comes out or no. Also says to Prahllad that in case your Lord does not come out I will kill you by chopping off your head. The calm and composed Prahllad as usual starts praying to the Lord. It was then the epic moment where the supreme God with rambunctious sound, tremendous aggravation, and barbarous exasperation bulldozes the pillar into pieces sounding like vociferous thundering and takes the avatar of man and lion and tears to open Hiranyakashipu with his lion nails and kills him. Lord Narashimha owns a human torso and lower body, with a lion head, face and claws absolutely terrorizing. This very place where Lord Narasimha saved Prahllada and killed Hiranyakashipu is Ahobalim. And this very temple is the ‘Ahobila Narasimha Swamy Temple’ which is natural, the self-emerged idol of Lord Narasimha himself.

Ahobilam is a town and holy site in the Allagadda mandal of Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is surrounded by picturesque hills of the Eastern Ghats with several mountain hills and gorges. It is the centre of worship of Narasimha, the lion-headed avatar of Vishnu, to whom the nine Hindu temples and other shrines all dedicated. The main village and a temple complex are at Lower Ahobilam.

Peaceful. Though this temple is not part of nava narashimar temple, this temple has beautiful sculptures and maintained properly. We went during marghazhi (December) month and happened to see perumal urchavam.

Went there from Mantralaya.4 hours drive.good roads.Hotels available for stay Malola ,AP tourism and other options.Veg Udupi hotel and other options for food. There are 9 temples to be seen. Two of them in forest..you need to hire a jeep @3500 for seven people. The road is pretty bad and people with back pain should be careful. Two of them is about 5 mins drive. These are all at ground level. Then you can proceed to Upper Ahobilam which is 8 kms drive. Here you can see two temples with little effort. For the rest its upto your capabilities as it needs trek and climb. Additionally there is the Laksmi Narasimha temple near to the hotel. Returning back to Bangalore via Kadiri the road is not good but manageable atleast for the initial 50 kms. Must visit place.Do some walking preparation before you go there so that you can cover all temples.

Holy place . Entrance of the temple was very spacious with both side double road. By the side of main deity Goddess Godadevi temple was awesome. Famous for Dhanurmasa poojas. They distribute Teertham, Chatari & various Prasadams in decent way. But be careful with monkeys in temple premises.

Unbelievable temple. The architecture of the temple in typical vijayanagara style is mind blowing. As a matter of fact, I would rate this temple amongst the top. Cameras allowed everywhere except main garbagriha. If you love your culture and civilization and love to visit our work of art, this temple is a must visit.

The temple is very good and so well constructed.... The temple is vast and surrounded by a small park over there.... The temple is dedicated to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.... This temple is ancient one and reconstruction has done in 1990's by late prime minister P.V.Narasimha rao... There are few local shops and a small hotel in temple premises... On jatara times (fair festival) there will be a huge crowd... Normal there will be a bit crowded and temple will be closed in afternoon so the rush will be... Overall the temple and the architecture is well maintained... Nice place to vist with family....

Very blessed temple of Sri Narsimha Swami on the top of the hill with mesmerizing view of mountain and a traditional South Indian meal in the form of prasadam. The idol of Narsimha Swami is worth darshanam and to seek the blessings from .
