Wat Mai Monastery image

Wat Mai Monastery

Buddhist temple

😠 At Wat Mai, we’ve seen a Monk abusing Dogs by hitting them with long sticks on their head without any reason. Despicable behavior for a buddhist would should be a good example.

How can you negatively review a Buddhist Monastery? Some people just don't get it?

Just off the main road of downtown Luang Prabang, a quaint temple with a lovely collection of Buddha. There was a small fee to enter; however, the couple at the entrance were so friendly and gave me an offering to place at the alter

Peaceful place. Worth to witness the rhythmic drum beating exercise by group of Monks.

Temple right at the centre of town. Nightly night market along the road beside the temple.

Another nice Buddhist monastery and temple. One of the many in Luang Prabang but also one of the most important. This time with an entrance fee.

One of the few monasteries in the area. Well maintained, splendid to look at. Staying right nearby, we had the opportunity to observe the monks' hours of prayer and study. In the morning, around 5.45am, the monks leave the monastery to receive their daily offerings. We woke up to attend the ritual but we noticed that it has now become an attraction for tourists who don't respect the moment as perhaps it should be done, too bad. In any case, a visit to the temple is a must, it's really worth it.
