The stepwell is open to the public and there is no ticket for entering. Photography is allowed. Advice is to wear clothes which cover your legs as there is a mosque where people are worshipping. It's a clean stepwell. There are no stalls nearby and there is no public transport available around. You can get a rickshaw or book a cab and come. Don't visit during late evenings as the area is quite deserted.

One of the best historical places to visit in the Ahmedabad city area. I've been living in ahmedabad and didn't know about this marvelous art till now. Located near Asarva Area (15min from Sarangpur). No parking facility but you can street park (2 wheeles preferable). The vav is so huge that you can spend half a day just wondering about the place and taking photography. Unexpectedly cleaner than i expected. Muslim locals are handling this historical place pretty well. The Vav was constructed in the 15th century under Mohammad Begada's era. Its 5 stories step well. Take Camera for photography the place is aesthetic one. Visiting here with family or friends would be fun. You won't have any food facilities here. But the street food will be available as it's a city after all. Visit this place on the weekend if you are in Ahmedabad. Attaching Photos and videos for your reference.

No entrance fee. The stepwell was built in 1485 by Dhai Harir, a household lady of Mahmud Begada. Dhai Harir built a mosque and a tomb in which she was buried. The well bears two inscriptions, one in Sanskrit on the south, and one in Arabic on the north wall, of the first gallery. Built in sandstone in Solanki architectural style, the Dada Harir stepwell is five stories deep. The well is designed in five levels, the east level being octagonal in shape. Each level is provided with finely sculptured pillars and volute capitals. The niches are full of finely sculptured stone work and parapets of kumbha or geometric friezes. The builder has also provided stone ledges for people to take rest. It's a must visit place!!

This is the exact same place that comes in the Ok kanmani Kollywood movie. From manifesting to be here, actually being here is Surreal on top of it, this place has amazing symmetry and aesthetic to it, awe struck, this is one of the Must visit historical places in Ahmedabad. Spend around 3 hours wondering about the architecture of this place. There's a mosque also located within this stepwell

This stepwell has similar architecture as Adalaj Ki Vav. It is amazing how they built 5-6 floors underground without much of machinery. Stepwell is not that popular in Ahmedabad and people mostly visit Adalaj Ki Vav to experience this type of architecture. Google map was not showing proper entry location.

We visited Bai Harir Vav, the stepwell in Ahmedabad which is an architectural marvel. The carvings are excellent. Beautiful Monument of Ahmedabad. The place and architecture surrounding the vav are well maintained. Travelers to Gujarat must have this place on their itinerary...

This is a hidden gem and has not attracted enough visitors for some weird reason but is on the unesco heritage list within AMD. Loved the solitude here and opportunity to take pics and enjoy the carvings on the walls. Lovely place with a mosque on the back side along with the tomb of the lady who build it - visit it and get some lovely clicks. Pro tip: there's a police outpost on the left of entrance, park in front of it and you'll be fine. Place looks shady, but is safe - no worries.

This stepwell is one of the best I have visited in my life. Its structure is similar to our Hindu Vav , but they named this stepwell after the Mughal invasion, changed its structure and named it as Islamic monuments. Overall it's architecture is best in class, I take several pics from this monument , it's been very good.Half day trip is worthwhile.

It's a historical place and still has a functional religious place so beautiful careful out there. Apart from that it's a 5 floor deep underground well.

A domed canopy welcomes us, with steps gradually descending through five underground storeys towards the well. Each storey features a covered gallery supported by beams and columns, accessible through corridors extending from each landing. Intricate carvings on beams, columns, and parapets bear Hindu motifs such as lotus rosettes, diamonds, and chequered geometric patterns. Two wells were designed; the main well accessible via spiral staircases from the ground floor through the five underground storeys, and the second circular shaft for irrigation purposes. A warning: it is quite dangerous to, not necessarily hop, but walk across one storey because the ledges may fit the length of a foot, but be extra careful not to hurt yourself. And, it’s advised to not go swim in that water. I’ve seen horrors…

Bai Harir Stepwell (Gujarati: દાદા હરિર વાવ, Hindi: दादा हरीर बावड़ी, Marathi: दादा हरीर बारव) is a stepwell in Asarwa area 15 km off Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. History The stepwell was built in 1485 by Dhai Harir, a household lady of Mahmud Begada according to the Persian inscription in the stepwell.[1] She was the superintendent of the royal harem. Dhai Harir built a mosque and a tomb in which she was buried. The well bears two inscriptions, one in Sanskrit on the south, and one in Arabic on the north wall, of the first gallery.[1] The Arabic writing reads:[1] This holy and wholesome water; the splendid travellers' rest-house enclosed on four sides by carved and painted walls, and a grove of fruit trees with their fruit, a well, and a pool of water for the use of man and heist, were built in the reign of the Sultan of the Sultans of the age, established by the grace of God and of the faith, Abul Fath Mahmud Shah, son of Muhammad Shah, son of Ahmed Shah, son of Muhammad Shah, son of Muzaffar Shah the Sultan, may God keep his kingdom. Dated the metropolis of the kingdom the 2nd of Jamadi-ul-awwal in the 26th year of the reign. A Sanskrit inscription says that the step-well was built in December 1499 AD.[2] It was during the reign of Mahmud Shah that Bai Harir Sultani, locally known as Dhai Harir, built the step-well. The name later corrupted into Dada Hari. It costed 3,29,000 Mahmudis (₹ 3 lakh) at that time. The ornate step-well has spiral staircases pieced into the sidewall of the well shaft and descending to the different platform levels.

Excellent ancient architectural Seven storeyed Step-well. Heritage of india. There is so much hardwork, detailing and symmetry among all the floors which is a treat to the eyes. It's so good to see long back how such master piece was built without much easiness. Such kind of Indian pride should be preserved and maintained so that the glory of them keep going. The place needs lot of Maintenance now. The well is dirty and home to bats now.

Great Historical place, if you like history then this is the place for you to visit. Very huge well with awesome carvings. It's milti story structure dated way back from 1500 century. As per local people this well was build by Maratha General dada haribhau , there is a mosque with beautiful carvings and the muslim caretaker claims that the well was build by hariri bai who was a female muslim person. If you are visiting Ahmadabad then you should visit this place.

Dada harir vav is a breathtaking gem. The intricate design and historical significance captivated me. The carvings and symmetrical columns were awe-inspiring. Descending the steps felt like a journey through time. The coolness and tranquility provided solace. The restoration efforts were commendable, preserving its charm. A must visit for history and architecture enthusiasts.

There is something amazing about the architecture of the stepwall in the Islamic style. It was designed in the year 1499. For those of you who are passionate about architecture, this is the best place to visit. It is important to be careful in the evening because bats will be coming out. Outside, the weather may be very hot, but inside the stepwall, we may not be able to feel the heat. We are experiencing a normal cold weather inside the stepwall.

Hazrat Bai Harir Stepwell is a captivating architectural marvel located in Ahmedabad, India. Dating back to the 15th century, this stepwell showcases intricate Islamic geometric patterns and delicate carvings. Its symmetrical design and descending levels create a mesmerizing visual experience. The craftsmanship reflects the cultural richness of the era, with each step adorned with exquisite details. Despite its historical significance, the stepwell has maintained its structural integrity, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and admirers of ancient architecture. The tranquil atmosphere surrounding the well adds to the overall charm, making it a delightful blend of history and aesthetics.

This place is quite amazing and aesthetic. However if there was some further monetary support the structure could be renovated and maintained quite well. The Mosque committee present there tries it's best for the upkeep of the place, however falls short due to financial challenges. With the structure cleaned (especially the base well) the place could certainly be a breathtaking.

No entry system of there, anybody can visit these have fun, party, cut cakes. Cleanliness is not maintained. Civil Maintenance is poor. No enough lightening. The periphery area is encroched by local residents. Public toilets are not available.

I had the pleasure of exploring the remarkable Hazarat Bai Harir Vav. This ancient stepwell is a true gem, showcasing exquisite architecture and reflecting the rich history of the region. The stepwell stands as a testament to the architectural brilliance of the past. Its imposing structure, adorned with intricate carvings and ornamental motifs, evokes a sense of awe and wonder. The cool, serene atmosphere offered respite from the bustling city outside. The symmetrical layout of the stepwell, with its multiple levels and intricately carved pillars, mesmerized me at every turn. The craftsmanship and attention to detail displayed in the carvings of Hazarat Bai Harir Vav are truly remarkable. The walls are adorned with intricate sculptures depicting mythological figures, gods, goddesses, and scenes from ancient tales. The precision and artistry of these carvings left me in awe of the skill and dedication of the artisans who created them. As I descended further into the stepwell, I marveled at the precision engineering that allowed for the efficient storage and distribution of water. The intricate network of steps and chambers not only served a functional purpose but also added to the aesthetic appeal of the structure. One of the highlights is the bottommost level of the stepwell. Here, I was greeted by a tranquil pool of water, reflecting the surrounding architecture and creating a mesmerizing sight. The site is well-maintained, and efforts have been made to preserve its historical integrity. Information boards provide valuable insights into the history and significance of the stepwell, enriching the visitor experience. The cleanliness and serene ambiance further enhances the overall impression of the site.

Can’t get any better than this!! One of the best historical places I have visited. With no entrance fee, the stepwell delivers more than structural detailing. Despite the dangers of falling to your death the stepwell provides one of the kind experiences. Every step you take it feels like a new world, an ancient kingdom that was submerged underwater. Although the experience was top notch if you are visiting with your kids make sure you don’t lose site if then for there are no safety measures and if they fall it ain’t a happy ending.

Bai Harir Sultani Stepwell is a stepwell in Asarwa area in Ahmedabad. It is not as famous as Adalaj Vav but it is beautiful and wonderful. A must visit. Just be careful of the locality as these ruins are being claimed by some sketchy locals, but it belongs to the ASI. It's absolutely beautiful!!

The place is closed before time ..nd they are not allowing photos nd videos in phone too...nd even they totally restricted us in the part of masjid area... It is not that much developed as it has to be like other heritage place.

Such a good find. A must visit for history lovers. Place is fairly well maintained. But , lot of bats so be careful. It is a gold mine of history and a great gem to explore. We reached by 9.30am and it was open so went in. Took around an hour to explore it well...

Absolutely a stunning place. Really amazing, the construction of the stepwell was interesting. A good place for photoshoot and for videography, but if you are doing this for the purpose of the wedding you need to have permission to do the same.

Hazrat Bai Harir Vav is a mesmerizing architectural marvel. The intricate design and the well-preserved structure showcase the historical significance of this stepwell. During my visit, I was surprised to stumble upon the shooting of a Gujarati drama, adding to the charm. What's even better is that there are no entry charges, making it an accessible piece of history for everyone to explore and appreciate. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking a glimpse of Gujarat's rich cultural heritage.

great place to visit with your friends. I visited this place a fee days ago and I think the place is great to visit atleast once. the photography is allowed from the main gate but if you go forward after a certain point you’ll see some boards that specifically says videography is not allowed. being a mosque do not visit it in the evening since it is time of prayer so you really don’t want to disturb them. but if you go just besides the date there are stairs that are going way down you can some amazing photographs and even do some videography. till this point both the things are allowed. I really enjoy here. I visited here with a colleague. there is no ticket or anything it’s completely free. I suggest to come after the prayer being done or before few hours.

Harir Vav is a stunning stepwell. The intricate architecture and detailed carvings make it a captivating historical site. The descending steps lead to a well-preserved underground structure, showcasing the region's engineering prowess. Harir Vav is a testament to India's rich cultural heritage, providing visitors with a unique glimpse into the past.

Similar to that of an Indiana Jones set, the step well is a thrilling and beautiful underground structure layered with detailed classical columned arches and a grand stair case down to water beneath the surface of the streets of Ahmedabad. Slim platforms and dark spiral staircases substitutes as the local playground for children in the area, where park land and quiet open spaces are lacking. The deeper you travel the cooler and quieter it gets, as if leaving the city. I wouldn't be surprised if goblins lived there.
