This building is a mosque and Tomb of Ahmed Shah of the Muzaffarid dynasty, who founded the city of Ahmedabad. The building is still a functioning mosque and seems to have a group of families who act as caretakers of the building. The mosque is located in a square with the mosque in the centre.. The mosque is roughly square shaped, with a smaller chamber jutting out from each of the four sides and is topped with large dome. The sides of the building are wonderful decorated with latticeworks and it’s just a pity that time and all the surrounding people, goats etc has done considerable damage to the exterior of the building. The inside has three tombs, the central one housing the tomb of Ahmed Shah, and the tombs of his son and grandson to the left and right. The inside is also very well maintained and in much clearly well cared for by the caretakers, so kudos for that. It’s definitely worth visiting the tomb when in Ahmedabad, especially as it’s right next to Jama Masjid, that was built on the orders of Ahmed Shah.

Known locally as Badshah no hajiro. Inside you have three tombs and one of them belongs to King Ahmed Shah who founded the city of Ahmedabad. Its a beautifully carved structure just opposite of Jama Masjid. And inside near the tomb you will feel peace and calmness.

The tomb of Ahmed shah after whom the city of Ahmedabad was named. It is in ruins, poor maintenance with dirt, filth and rubbish everywhere. It's a pity these monuments are maintained in such a manner.

It's good from inside but it's encroached from outside. Local people are kind and cooperative. Surrounding area is not clean and it's impossible to properly photograph the tomb from outside. This tomb is in better shape than Rani's Hazira.

This place speaks volumes about Ahmedabad's heritage and history. It is where Ahmed Shah I was buried. Women are not allowed inside, but I managed to take a few shots from the outside. There are many shops in the vicinity. Very quiet and peaceful place. Must-visit if you are at Manek Chowk. Located right opposite to Rani no Hajiro.

Ahmad Shah's Mosque, also known as Shahi Jam-e-Masjid or Juni Juma Masjid is the oldest mosque of Ahmedabad. The mosque was erected by the founder of Ahmedabad, Ahmad Shah I in 1414. It said to have been used as the royal household's private mosque. According to the inscription at the upper part of the central mihrab, the foundation date seems to be the 4th day of Shawwal month in 817AH, which is 17 December 1414. The pavement is of white marble, the canopy covered pulpit has a yellow marble balustrade carved in a leafy pattern, and white marble steps. In the courtyard is a mound called Ganj Shahid or the martyrs' mound, the tomb of warriors who perished in Sultan Ahmed's early fights. The mosque covers area of 700 square metres and have two rows of ten large domes surrounded by several smaller domes. The mosque is supported by 152 pillars and have four arched gateways. There are eight perforated stone windows and 25 fine carved pillars. The mosque was restored in 2011 by Archaeological Survey of India at cost of Rs. 2.2 million.

It's hidden in the back valley. I came here around 11 am. I was told by the guard that women are now allowed inside. Well, then the tea man next to the tomb made me a cup of tea.

Tomb of Sultan Ahmed Shah who was the founder of the city of Ahmedabad. This tomb also has the cenotaphs of Ahmed Shah's son and grandson. Women are not allowed in the central chamber. There is also a tomb of his queens across the street though it is not in a great shape nowadays

Badshah no Haziro Ahmed Shah’s Tomb, locally known as Badshah no Hajiro or Raja no Hajiro, is a medieval mosque and the group of tombs in Ahmedabad, India. Ahmed Shah’s mosque is situated close to Jama Mosque and Manek Chowk. Burial places assume special religious significance amid Muslims and some of their burial places are today among the hotspot tourist destinations in the country largely due to their exotic locations and exquisite architecture. At Badshah no Hajiro, which was buit in the year 1446, rest the mortal remains of the founder of Ahmedabad, Ahmed Shah I. The place is located to the western side of Manek Chowk, just outside the eastern gate of Jama Masjid. The place’s architecture is in the shape of a square, which has porticos around it. The windows are perforated and the carvings on them are breathtaking. The cenotaphs of Ahmed Shah’s son Muhammad Shah and grandson Qutbuddin Ahmed Shah III are also located at this place. Outside, located closeby is the Rani-no-Hajiro which houses the tombs of queens of sultans after Ahmed Shah. This is where the male members of the royal family were buried. Women are not allowed to enter, and men must wear something to cover their heads before entering. There are also a few ministers’ tombs laid out across the road. It lies to the west of Manek Chowk. A nice place to visit for those who are obsessed with historical monuments. But the biggest drawback is that it is in old city area so only 2 whellers can go here and there is huge parking issues as well.

Tomb of Sultan Ahmed Shah - the founder and ruler of Ahmedabad once upon a time in history. The tomb is located in the market in a very crowded area and reaching there takes a bit of time but reaching there on foot is the fastest option. Women are not allowed inside the tomb area. Ahmed Shah's wife's tomb is just nearby, which you are visit too.

The part of world heritage city and heritage walk itself, the place is in near manek chowk opposite to rani no hajiro (Rani's tomb) , the place is in dire situation. The local people has ruined place by throwing garbage and holding the premise place. The place has historic value as the king of ahmedabad has his own tomb here, but if you visit once you feel like Unesco and local corporation need to look after the place more than any other place. We expect more from local authorities as it is part of world heritage city. To reach here, from kalupur railwayd station, you can take auto via Gandhi road. But it is better to reach here via lal darwaja cause you have to walk some distance to reach here.

It's in the middle of Ahmedabad city. I'd recommend tourists to visit it on a Sunday morning to avoid traffic. Locals know it as Badshah-no-Haziro It's worth to come here once in a lifetime for Amdavadis to pay respect to king Ahmed Shah, a gentle, kind, visionary and tolerant king who established this beautiful city.

One of the most ancient and beautiful structure right there in the middle of city 😻 Recommeded to visit on working days(non peak hours) only. No parking space inside or nearby. Highly recommeded place to visit for Non-Residents (foreigners). I personally like being there inside it.
