Built in 1981 within the vicinity of Vishalla Village Restaurant is the VECHAAR (Vishalla Environmental Centre for Heritage of Art, Architecture and Research) Utensils Museum, a brainchild of architect Mr. Surender C. Patel. It is an effort to cherish and preserve our rich cultural heritage and rare artistic skills and wisdom of our craftsmen. It is an extensive study of utensils from thousand years old to present times, that have evolved over different periods of history as a result of our changing needs and environment. The range varies from leaves or a gourd jug, to modern stainless steel and glass utensils. The metal utensils cover everything from brass, copper, bronze, zinc to German silver.

Part of the Vishalla restaurant complex, this huge collection of pottery and metalware stretches all across a large single-storied pavilion. While there are local Gujarati utensils - for carrying water, milking cattle, storing grains or oil, and so on - there are also other items from other parts of India as well as abroad: samovars, supari cutters, platters, urns, statuettes, toys, etc. These were very impressive, many of them intricately worked, and the massive proportions of some of the storage jars and cooking pots and pans were mind boggling. There's even a cooking pot that is one thousand years old. No entrance fee is charged, and you may photograph the display of pottery along the outside for free. However, if you want to photograph the exhibits inside (the bulk of the museum) a fee of about rupees 500 is charged.

Fantastic, massive collection of utensils from the kitchen to perfumery. On the side some lovely wooden screens and pieces. Arranged.on earthen coloured platforms with dark wooden supports for the roof. The accompanying pictures tell their story. Do visit.

This is a part of the Vishala restaurant complex though housed in a separate building and accessible with a separate nominal ticket. It houses over four thousand old utensils housed in mud hut type buildings and covers every possible type of household utensil sued in the days of yore. The collection is genuinely fascinating, and row after row of utensils evoke interest. Value could be added by some descriptive plaques saying where the utensils were sourced from or their history. Also if the attendants would accompany small groups and talk about the same, it would make the visit more enjoyable. A good walkthrough while visiting the restaurant.

Vichaar Museum has one of the biggest collection of utensils in India. Their curation of Brass, Copper and Bronze utensils, containers, vessels, decorative boxes and huge scale cookware is impressive and worth visiting. They have created nice sections where they have gathered samples from all over the country. It would take around 1-3 hours if you want to spend some time appreciating the history of these beautifully made objects. Some of the forms and shapes are so beautiful that you would want to have them in your own house and cook or serve food in them. If you are in Ahmedabad and you have time you should visit the museum. They also have a Gujarati Restaurant which serves authentic Gujarati Thali.

A MEMORABLE AWESOME RAJASTHAN experience!! 😊❤💯👌 I have always been an admirer of Rajasthani culture. And I'm sure in my lifetime, I was destined to experience this awesome place. It was an adventurous journey of Rajasthsn all together and I made the most of it. 😊🤪 At the entrance see glimpses of special moments with celebrities from Amitabh Bachan(young), Sachin Tendulkar, and the like to mention a few. If you are an admirer of antique home decor, and kitchen accessories, do visit it. 👍👌 The entry fee or the unlimited dinner we opted for costs at 1019 per head, which seems expensive at the beginning, but once you take a tour of what's inside of it you won't regret it a bit. I had no idea of what's in store for us, inside. From the entrance till the dead end, the whole premise is decorated and presented with antique decor ranging from our yester year oil/kerosene lamps to human sized antique earthen pots, trees, wooden fencing, rocks, statues, puppets and interestingly the floors are not concrete or tiled. You have two options to go with, either meals or tea-snacks.☕️🍵🫖 The tables and charpoys for the latter is towards the entrance while the dining tables for dinner are towards the inside of the whole property.🛏 We were there for dinner around 8pm. It was prestine and breathtaking aesthetically.🍴🍲 This museum in the backdrop of chirping birds is secured on all sides by boundary walls, that reminds one of the Fort walls.🧱🦅 What I like most is, they have designed this whole place in its pure, nature friendly and old fashioned way. You can feel the mud under your feet and wood everywhere you touch around.🏞 The dining area is vast, carpeted and you can choose between high chair dining (wooden) tables with benches or the low tables where you can be seated on small cushions or even a stool, if you are more comfortable with it. You are asked to remove footwear before entering the dining area. I had the pleasure of making a small pot at the pottery section.😁 Then we reached the utensil museum, for which entrance is not free and hence we just took a look from the outside. Inside they have cattle farm and geese farms. I guess the unadulterated butter they treat us with are all from here. Aww... no words to explain the food platter🫒😋🍥🏷🥨🍲🍛 served on patal( dried leaves) in a cane baskets at the beginning which includes, saambaaro, cucumber, beetroot, sproted mug, sukhdi, jalebi, dokla, gud, lesan chutney, pickle, mirchi, peanut, pure butter, chaas, beans, pudina chutney, peanuts, romato, onion, lemon. Later bhakari, Rotla, tepla.pappad, corn dish, bataka dish, dal, bhindi masala.🥧🍽🍛🥔🍅🫑🥒 All of these are unlimited served with so much care and affection by the staff in traditional attire or uniform. Unif🥋 I had 5 glasses of chass🧈🥜🍩😋 and many rounds of jalebi. Sukhdi was new to me and I loved it. 😍 😋😝 Then the most attractive part of our exploration here was the Rajasthani dance entertainment in tune with rajasthani folk music. 💃🩰The balancing act of piled up pots on head and the fire are just jawdropping. I did try my dancing skills with the beautiful artist who was looking royal, beautiful and eternal in her grand traditional velvet attire. While seated, we were treated to a mixed juice of apple, lemon and pomegranate. If you are a fan of puppet dance, spend a few minutes there too. I had a great time trying my hand at pot making. We bought a charka too from the shop close to the entrance. They sell many varieties of pickles here. Every journey should end sweet. We treated ourselves to gulab and kesar scoop ice cream.🍨🍧🍦 This was an experience journey to remember for a long time. ✨️ 😊

It is a excellent place to visit with family and let our future generation to know about the items used in ancient times. The measuim consists of more than 4000 different items along with 700 species of nut crackers. The amazing thing is some items are we never ever imagine about the size in our life time especially the locker. Many varieties of locker in bigger size. There is a unique water container is there which is in peacock shape. There is a Tajmahal which is made of 75,000 match sticks. There is a olden days 3D art which is hanging on the right side.

"A must visit when you are in Ahmedebad" - so let tell me introduce you to this museum. This is the ethnic collections of utensils, pots and other kitchen equipment of the daily life but the speciality is all these items are antic. I was totally surprised by their various collections the have. The word couldn't express it. You should go and explore the same. The collections are big pots almost double the human size, oil, water container, various types of lock of 3 ft & 5 ft in the size . I was amazed by a match stick made Taj Mahal which is really unique. They have collections of beetle nut cutter almost more than 250 and almost more than 60years old. Charcoal based water heater, kettle, and hotpot tiffin box was surprised to see them first time in my life. There are many other things which make you surprise. Inside the museum temperature is very soothing and full natural. Lots of greeneries and fresh air. Entry fee is 30 RS per person which is very cheap.Inside the museum photography is on chargeable basis 200 RS. Outside it is free. Inside the area you will find rest rooms as well as restaurant made in ethnic rajasthani village decor. Will make you feel that you are much away from the daily busy city life. They also have party plot where they do banqueting. The area is much clean and quite large. At last I will like to thank you Mr. Singh our guide who told us and described each and every details of the museum. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining. He is one of the real assets in the museum.

Just WoW!! We generally say "Those good old days" and this is a perfect place to re-live those good old days. I am on a road trip starting from Aurangabad for a week but this is the most soul satisfying visit of all. There are many highlights in this place 1. A very unique utensil museum which will take you to your childhood in the villages. Mr Rajesh had the patience to explain every minute details of it 2. A collection of 4500 utensils. Surprisingly the whole collection is made by only one person. 3. The Food. We ordered Dhokla and one sweet made of Wheat Flour, Ghee and ghud and trust me I have never tasted such delicacies 4. The Rajsthani Dance and puppet show. The lady who danced with Pots on head there stole all our hearts with her performance. 5. It is worth watching the place at night which is lit by lantern and no light 6. Last but not the least, the pottery place. You can actually do that with your hands and Mr. Ramesh was very helpful there. He actually guided us in making pottery. Highlight of the visit: one of the pottery is 1000 years old. Note: Google maps show it is closed till 3pm which is not right as they are open in the afternoons for Lunch and trust me it is worth trying. We actually planned for a half an hour visit but ended up spending more than 2 and half hours Finally a must visit place in Ahmedabad "yaaden batorne keliye"

VECHAAR Utensils Museum, Ahmedabad Top Places to Visit VECHAAR (Vishalla Environmental Centre for Heritage of Art, Architecture and Research) Utensils Museum is a one-of-a-kind museum in Ahmedabad. This exhibition of utensils used across the country is from the personal collection of Vishalla restaurant's founder. With different fascinating utensils used in rural or urban Indian homes, the museum gives a peek into the country's rich heritage. It has around 4000 daily-use utensils put together in a rustic, village-style hall, divided into two galleries. It's an elaborate display of utensils integral to Indian cooking, from hundreds of years back to modern India. From pressure cookers to large cooking pots and serving bowls to nutcrackers, the museum has a lot to explore. VECHAAR Museum is also an exhibition of the diversity of craftsmanship of the country. While some utensils are simple, others are designed to represent cultural beliefs. The utensils are made with various materials, ranging from brass and bronze to ivory and terracotta. Glass, mud and wooden utensils are also present. Then, you'll find travel-friendly utensils and storage boxes in different shapes and sizes. Lamps, different ritual accessories, and incense burners are also a part of the collection. Hookah and a variety of locks, too, are in this exquisite collection of interesting objects.

Tantalising city of Ahmedabad is packed with historical sites and modern delights. The sixth most populous city of the country is renowned for its diverse and welcoming culture. An inspiring sightseeing spot of the city is the Vechaar Utensils Museum that emphasizes the diverse collection of utensils. An imposing museum that takes you back in time with the display of metal utensils including brass, copper, bronze, zinc and German silver. It is poised to be one of the inspiring museums to visit in Ahmedabad that have been set inside the Vishala Village Restaurant. The wonderful collection of utensils highlights the iconic artworks collected from different parts of the country like Rajasthan, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. Vechaar or Vishala Environmental Centre for Heritage of Art, Architecture and Research features metal utensils made of stainless steel, zinc, wood, bronze, German silver, mud, copper and glass.

They charge 100 for photography and 500 for videography. It's a nice place overall worth visiting once. But they shouldn't charge money for taking photos and videos they are already a stable museum where known celebrities have come . The food looks good but we didn't tried it Then there is also one person sitting who makes kullads , you can also make one .it's a nice experience other then that there is a gallery alot of art work is presented but there also taking photos is not allowed. You can come here with your family and friends it's overall a good experience feels like you are in a village having food.
