A historical landmark in the old city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is one of the 13 gates or darwajas which are built around the old city of Ahmedabad. It is a stone made huge gate standing boldly. Well maintained. A precious heritage of heritage city.

This place has historical significance and is due to its locality. Delhi door is a get-away towards seasonal and essential marketplace. although it is a crowded place where the number of vehicles can create a massive blockage of traffic as the land is very narrow in width.

The Delhi Darwaja is one of the gates into Ahmedabad when it was still a fortified city. The Teen Darwaja is probably the best of the old gates, but Delhi Darwaja is easier to see as it stands on its own in the middle of a road and kind of acts like a roundabout. The gate arched and is almost 6 metres thick. There’s also two flanking gates which are thinner, but also arched. I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it unless you’re in the area.

Formerly known as Idariyo Gate, the doors of iron-plated timber, the gateway of three stone arches fifteen feet broad and twenty-two high with a roofed platform 32x20 pierced for one gun. In 1878, on either side of the main gateway, two openings, each 8 feet wide and 16 high were added for foot passengers at a cost of Rs. 4890/-

It's an ancient Darwaja that has historic significance filled with modern traffic... It's visible while driving through the road... Just a big entry pillar that exists on route... Not so greatly maintained... Nice to have a look at these during staying in Ahmedabad... As the way is too small it's congested chaotic with vehicles irregularly parked...

Daily, I am passing from delhi darwaaja. there is so much rush of public. AMTS, BRTS and RICKSHAWS are making so much of traffic. Some time there is no traffic police officers. people are breaking signals when traffic police officers are not there. some old age traffic police officers can not handle situation and peoples are breaking the rules also.

Delhi Darwaja is also known as Idariyo Gate. Delhi Darwaja lies on the north side of the old citadel (Ahmedabad). It is made up of Ashlar Stone Masonry. It lies in the direction towards Delhi that’s why it is called as “Delhi Darwaja”. There are two openings on either side of the main gateway, each of them is 8 feet wide and 16 feet height were added for foot passengers. Now there are shops surrounding it.

In Ahmedabad Lal Darwaja has very unique historical value. It's one of the oldest entry gate of ancient time which is still in good condition. Its is known for its seasonal market. Among all those seasonal market kite Market during the time of Uttrayan. This festival is celebrated on 14th of January every year. Different area in Ahmedabad have a special market for Manja and kite.

Delhi darwaja is one considered as the old city of Ahmedabad. This place is a big market for all wholesale dealers. The darwaja (gate) was constructed in 1848 A.D. The construction of the temple was originally planned by Sheth Hathisinh Kesarisinh, a wealthy Ahmedabad trader who died at the age 49. Then construction was supervised and completed by his wife Shethani Harkunvar. This is one of the busiest places in Ahmedabad.

Delhi Darwaja, nestled in the heart of Ahmedabad, is a fascinating glimpse into the city's rich history and culture. As the old city, it proudly stands as a testament to Ahmedabad's architectural legacy. The market at Delhi Darwaja is a bustling hub for wholesale dealers, with a special charm during seasonal markets. Among these, the kite markets during the vibrant Uttrayan festival add an extra layer of excitement. The historical significance of Delhi Darwaja is enhanced by its splendid old architecture. The place exudes a timeless charm that captivates visitors. However, the charm extends beyond its historic value. Daily life at Delhi Darwaja is a bustling spectacle with a constant influx of people, creating a lively atmosphere. While the vibrancy is invigorating, it is important to note the challenges presented by the heavy footfall. The rush of the public, combined with various modes of transportation like AMTS, BRTS, and rickshaws, can result in substantial traffic. At times, the absence of traffic police officers poses challenges, leading to instances of rule-breaking by some individuals. It is suggested that enhanced traffic management measures be considered during peak hours to ensure a smoother experience for both locals and visitors. In summary, Delhi Darwaja is an iconic destination, steeped in history, and a must-visit for those seeking a taste of Ahmedabad's cultural tapestry. The energetic vibe, coupled with its historical significance, makes it a unique and memorable experience.

Monument is awesome and it is free for All. As Google asks, no tickets required to visit. It is accessible for vehicles as situated on a road amongst cross roads. During day time, only terrific traffic is visible. At night, you can have tea-coffee & pan parlour stuff. At night after 8:30, the beside of Delhi Darwaja is much crowded.

The Darwaja or Gates of Ahmedabad were built during different times starting from 1411 as the entrances to the walled city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. These entrances to the city has a unique name and history. Pretty much the area surrounding these gates have adopted the name of the gate as the name of the locality. Each of the gate has beautiful carvings, calligraphy and some of them even balconies. It is one of the twelve gates which once guarded the city. Located in Ahmedabad East, it is now in the expanded City area and the gateway to popular local market i.e. Lal Darwaja, Railway Junction, towards Sabarmati Ashram, and Income Tax Office. Plenty of auto rickshaws, city buses and cabs connectivity from and to the place.
