The Somnath temple located in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat, is believed to be the first among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines ofShiva.[1] It is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat. Reconstructed several times in the past after repeated destruction by several Muslim invaders [2][3][4][5][6] and Portuguese,[7] the present temple was reconstructed in Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and completed in May 1951. The reconstruction was completed byVallabhbhai Patel.[8][9]

It's a beautiful temple. One of the jyotirlinga. Visit in the evening, there's beautiful view of sea from the back side of the temple. Maintained it so well, it's neat and clean. Beach is near by Temple, cycle on hire is available, you can take a ride near temple and Sea. Sitting arrangement is there in the temple as well as on beach side. Luggage is not allowed in side the temple, you have to deposit the luggage.
