The Red Lion English Sports Pub on Sheikh Zayed Road located in the Metropolitan Hotel and I must say, it was a great experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a good atmosphere and a warm, inviting ambiance. One of the highlights of my visit was undoubtedly the delicious pub food. The menu offered a wide variety of pubs food, but the pulled pork belly, fisherman's basket, wings, and pork ribs were absolute standouts. The service at the English Sports Pub was commendable. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations. One of the highlights of the pub is its outdoor seating area. When the weather gets a bit cooler, this space provides a comfortable and enjoyable setting to relax and enjoy your meal or drinks. During my visit, I had the opportunity to try several dishes from the menu, and I can confidently say that each one was a delight. The flavors were well-balanced, the ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was visually appealing. Whether you're looking for a quick bite, a refreshing beer, or a place to watch a thrilling football game with friends, the English Sports Pub on Sheikh Zaher Road comes highly recommended. Pretty nice English pub. Three of us friends went there during happy hours on a Saturday. We had their Red Lion Snack Platter which was quite enough between three of us. Later we had the dessert which was the sticky carmel pudding with vanilla ice-cream. Great service too. Anna was very pleasant and attentive.

The original Red Lion revived in a beautiful new hotel setting and I knew the original Metropolitan Hotel and famous pub, probably the first of its kind in Dubai - the place that put our beloved city on the global map as a Middle East destination where alcohol was permitted! 😀🍻🥂Now frequently visited by locals by 6pm I see lots of guys unwinding after their working day in the sandpit. There's definitely a cult crowd but not clicky. The Red Lion pub has sports TV, separate news TV, music and efficient, friendly waitress service. There's also a varied menu - as you can see from the pics - a diner told me the sausage and mash is his regular order and the grilled chicken sandwich was tasty - not dry at all. If you love a British pub I'd recommend the Red Lion revived!

Has already wanted to go there but this place is not so easily accessible even though it is just along the Sheikh Zayed Road. I ordered pork chop which was terrific! Good roasted smell and good textured French fries are the winners in this cozy British pub!

The food is very good here and the atmosphere is nice. The Red Lion does remind me of a pub in the UK. However, they do allow smoking 🚬 inside here. There is a non smoking section but it's just something to be aware of. The service is good & you certainly don't feel rushed. There's a pool 🎱 table & darts available. As well as sports being played on the TV's around the room.

I miss pork knuckle. But it is no longer on the menu.. The service is always good, lovely staff, affordable food. I got ribs... Lovely lovely.. They have happy hour until 7pm.. The music is great n if you are a sports person,,you'd love it there.. Easy to get to, great vibe.. I have been visiting this place since 2016, it never gets old.

Legendary English pub @ metropolitan hotel Dubai

We decided for dinner at The Red Lion on a Friday. We arrived before 19h00, to have a few drinks before dinner. We got seated, not at the best seat, but not in the middle of smoking section as the non smoking section was full. We ordered our first drinks. A table opened in the non smoking section and we moved. The waiter saw us move as they had to clean the table. We eventually had to ask a not waiter if he would like to serve us, as the previous waiter was MIA. The food was good, but the service was slow. What was very disappointing is that the staff allowed customers to smoke in the non smoking section, while there was open areas in the smoking section. The disrespect to non smoker is shocking from the staff.

Well, nice looking English pub, smooth, all good, we take pork ribs and Bangers & mash and all very tasted. Price very acceptable, for this kind of bar! One small minus from my side, there is no menu with price for bewetage (soda, juice, water … etc) so we order “on blind” water, and “of course” she delivery 2 small bottles “Hildon water” and “ of course” charged 20 dirhams each. Except this all other things very ok!

Great atmosphere tbh. The food is really good. The BLT is my favorite thing now. The drinks are exquisite and the overall experience was amazing. My go to place for drinks and chilled vibes. A bit expensive but worth the price. The pool table is what gets us visiting we love to play. The staff are super friendly and professional. Keep it up P.S: l took a martini, usually l rate a place by its martini ( if they have alcohol ) and they did not disappoint.

A typical English pub with an English fare. Less crowded maybe it was a weekday. Parking may be an issue as there are many restaurants around the hotel.

Amazing place. Really looks like an English pub. You can have a drink and good nachos, play various games or watch a football match in a very friendly environment. You can even smoke cigars, which makes it a quite unique place. The only downside is that the smell of the cigarettes/cigars is very present.

If you've been in Dubai a while, then you definitely know the Red Lion from the old Metropolitan hotel (what is now Habtoor City and the new Metropolitan Hotel built across the road). Had the beef burger and it was delicious. Staff were also very attentive and service was timely. Nice spot if you're looking for quiet bar to chill out.

As a regular costumer here, good staff as well as the food is fantastic and food price are reasonable, plus happy hour is good too.

They have happy hour from 4-8pm. Its actually a Manchester United pub. If you're a supporter then surely do try this place .. the drinks even without the happy hours were reasonable. Great place to meet a few British folks and other Expats at happy hour at the bar after work (5pm through 8pm); always somebody there (including myself). Beers are also reasonably cheap at HH. Food questionable though (Indian chef doing British food - you know the score - the curry is good) but at least they have pork offerings. The bar staff are excellent; I never have an empty glass.

Poor service

A British style pub that stinks of smoke...like no British pub in around 20 years! Seriously the smell hits you from way outside of the pub. It really is disgusting. The management need to sort that out. A decent IPA on the happy hour, like many of the competitors (which don't smell!) would also make me feel more compelled to return.

This is a big thank you to Abdul and all the staff in the Red Lion British pub in the Metropolitan Hotel. After having a drink in the bar Christmas Eve, we decided to book the Christmas Day dinner. The chef (Abdul) and his team went above and beyond to exceed all expectations. The food was tasty and plentiful and presented to a very high standard. Will definitely return to The Red Lion on our next visit to Dubai.
