Zabeel
or
Za’
abeel
Palace
is
the
official
residence
and
administrative
office
of
the
ruling
Royal
Family
in
Dubai.
The
word
'Zabeel'
in
Arabic
means
'Thanks'
and
this
palace
was
constructed
in
the
1960's
and
has
been
the
official
residence
of
Sheik
Rashid,
UAE's
former
prime
minister.
The
design
of
this
palace
is
the
idea
of
Otto
Bulart
who
was
behind
the
design
of
the
Clock
Tower
in
Dubai.
The
Zabeel
palace
is
one
of
the
most
secured
palaces
in
the
world,
protected
by
sophisticated
electronic
devices.
While
stepping
inside
is
off
limits
for
tourists,
you
still
can
view
the
palace
from
the
maingate
or
from
the
distance
of
the
beautifully
manicured
lawns
that
make
this
place
a
must
visit
as
you
also
get
a
fabulous
view
of
the
Dubai
Frame
on
one
side
and
the
Burj
Khalifa
on
the
other.
Once
a
barren
land
covered
in
sand,
the
Zabeel
area
is
now
surrounded
by
tall
skyscrapers
that
call
Dubai
home.
While
heading
away
from
here,
we
did
capture
an
eye
catching
view
of
the
Dubai
Skyline,
with
the
Burj
Khalifa
towering
high.
The
lush
garden
has
tight
security.
One
can
only
move
up
to
a
point
and
can't
get
close
to
the
palace
beyond
a
point.
One
can
opt
for
a
30
minutes
guided
tour
that
can
be
very
informative,
but
we
did
not
have
that
included
in
our
City
Tour
package
and
moved
on
to
our
next
destination
that
is
equally
iconic.
More
on
that,
in
the
next
post.
