Amazing place and best place to visit for new arrivals. Gives a great sense of respect and understanding of culture and heritage of the UAE. I've been twice and will go again. Second time we had a tour which didn't cost and extra.

Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest standing building in Abu Dhabi city. This palace fort is more than 260 years old and was home to the ruling family then. It stood on the shores along with the early settlement and served as an important landmark overseeing the coastal activities. It has four watch towers at four corners and might have been a centre to monitor the area all around. Over a period of time due to the reclamation of land and urban development, Qasr Al Hosn which once touched the shores, now stands in the middle of the city. Qasr Al Hosn is a heritage building representing the culture and traditions of UAE. During Ramadan, a canon is placed here to fire during the iftar time. There is a house of artisans next to it which displays UAE local artisans handicrafts. There is Abu Dhabi cultural foundation building which houses a big library and a theatre. There is an emirati restaurant called Erth. The area is vast and open with water body facing the restaurant area. History lovers and those interested in the culture and heritage will definitely love this place. Qasr Al Hosn has a paid entry for 30 Dirhams. Access to the house of artisans is free to public.

Parking is underground and a bit far. Better to buy tickets online. Good to call them and check if the Qaser is open for visiting or closed temporary as happened with us! The indoor exhibition is self explanatory as you just need to read. Not very big but there is walking and stairs so avoid visiting in summer. I would say that it wll be boring for childeren under 12 years old. Highly recommended 👍

Beautifully presented, kept and restored to perhaps get a feel for ‘the real UAE / Abu Dhabi’. Staff are amazing and the whole thing is incredibly well executed and leaves you with a real sense of fulfilment from the very 1st settlers to present day. Coffee ceremony in the artisan building also worth it and very affordable!

The oldest building in Abu Dhabi, containing the watchtower, the city's first permanent structure. Originally built to overlook the costal trade routes, evolved to home to the ruling family, seat of government, a consultative council, a national archive and since 2018 a museum of Abu Dhabi's history. Entrance fee: 25-35 AED. You can tour the whole site within 1.0-1,5 hour. Best time: Winter and afternoon, so you can see in both daylight and lighted up.

A nice historic landmark and worth a visit if you have more time in the city. There is not so much to see, around 1 hour might be enough. It was quite empty when we visited, almost no other visitors. There are also some nice cafes and fountains in the area.

I was taking a stroll after a relaxing day at the beach (from Corniche to World Trade Center) when I came across this cultural treasure. I was in awe from afar and I got so excited when I found out that the museum is open until 9pm. Ticket price: 30 dirhams Upon entry, you will embark into the rich history of the region through modern and artistic renders projected on the white halls. The exhibit also showcases artifacts and vintage pieces which dates back to the early settlers and inhabitants of the realm. The highlight of the tour is the structure itself which was once the actual residence of the rulers of land. You will get a glimpse of their simple way of life, traditions and customs that paved way into shaping the contemporary Abu Dhabi that we all know today.

Lovely place. Loved the full experience and amazing to see each room of Sheikhs and Sheikhas lived there in Castle. The only thing, there was no guide who could explain the story of the Qasr, there could be video presentation for guests at the start of the room so we can link it throughout the Qasr trip.

It represents the culture of UAE and is the oldest landmark in Abu Dhabi 😍 its been renovated and converted to museum and you can visit here any time. Lot of parking in the basement. Before the events were out door. Now its for tourists indoor museum. For our side it looks so beautiful 😍 💖 Here are some pics I have captured. Mix of pics old and new after renovation.

Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest historical building in the city of Abu Dhabi, and is considered one of its most important heritage landmarks. It reflects the history and achievements of Abu Dhabi continuously since the eighteenth century until today. It has been restored and maintained to be open to visitors by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. The entire area is called the Al Hosn Cultural District and next to the castle houses the Cultural Complex and the House of Craftsmen. The oldest piece in the palace is 3000 years old, and it contains the belongings of some members of the Al Nahyan family, and artifacts dating back to the era of Sheikh Zayed the First.

Qasr Al Hosn fort is one of the oldest stone building in Abi Dhabi. One of the historical landmark. Entry ticket cost :30/person. Omani Cannon (photo) This cannon was a given by the Sultan of Oman to Sheikh Zayed the First during the late 1800s. A diplomatic gift, it symbolises a long tradition of friendship between Abu Dhabi and Oman and highlights the trust between them in gifting weaponry to one another.

It’s a public space with some outdoor food and coffee kiosks. Parking : Basement parking is available. Once you park, you can take the elevator and it takes you to the plaza area right infront of the main building . For those who are attending any special events, it’s best to call them and check for the tickets. Otherwise, one can also always take the ticket on the go for the exhibitions. Behind the main building, there are some coffee shops by the water side. You can experience the downtown while sipping your coffee . Picture one is taken from one of the coffee shops. Dress: It is best to dress modestly as there are many locals visiting this place.

The place is a great opportunity to get to know the Arabic culture better, specifically, from UAE and its capital city Abu Dhabi. The exposition explains the evolution of Abu Dhabi from being the capital city of the emirate to becoming the capital city of the country, while getting the visitor through the financial and social changes that happened during the transition. The ticket includes an explained Arabic coffee preparation demonstration, from which you get to taste.

This was a very good experience for me. I have stayed in UAE for almost 4 years now and it has gone pretty quickly. You just can’t know how time flys, Anw back to the topic, this event was magnificent if you want to know about the History and Culture of this beautiful country that many of us call home. This is the event for you. I did not know much about it but when I got the chance to attend. I was amazed by the beauty of the culture. You will realise I say culture a lot because I guess that is what the event I attended was about. Let’s talk about the men dancing 🕺🏻 they do it with passion, it’s so calm and soothing looking at them sing and dance. I was like woowww… it reminded me of my own culture back at home and was like this world is huge and people are so different. Anw that was my thought process. I loved every bit of my evening at this event. Also they had some old cars (antiques) and also we got treated to some Arabic coffee and tea. I would write a book but this is enough. See you in the next one… bye 👋

As compared to the Palaces and Forts in India, Qasr Al Hosn is very small. But they have maintained it well and have used visuals through projectors and sounds from the speakers to recreate the the old times. Good place to visit if you like to know the history of the city.

(Translated by Google) The place is very very nice, but at how many points are there in the outer rooms, if there are spray fans or air conditioning or any other way to be installed, the place will be cold in the summer, so the rooms and the corridor will be a wonderful and wonderful thing (Original)

Went for the pottery workshop and the staff was amazing kind, and helpful. Suggested we visit the ice cream exhibit and it was honestly some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The pottery workshop was super fun, being the first time working with clay. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

A historic landmark in Abu Dhabi. Worth visiting. Spend time as well at the house of artisans.

Total disaster. The site was closed today, but online tickets were still selling for 10/11/2021. We bought tickets and arrived just to be told that the site is closed. It took 40(!) minutes to find someone to help with the refund. I recommend to buy tickets on arrival and not online to save yourself a lot of troubles.

A must visit place. At the heart of Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Hosn is an old heritage site. Residents and tourists will live it alike. In winter, the place is amazing. There are cafes, stalls and outside seatings.

Beautiful place with a lot of cultural significance for UAE founding fathers. Loved the guided tour of this Palace and then later had dinner at the restaurant just behind it.

Epic monument. You'll come to know a lot about history of Abu Dhabi. Many artefacts and things are kept here that will give you an idea of how people used to stay there. How was the architecture formed from day 1. What they used to wear. How their rooms were. How they socialized life.

The integration of the past and present art work and pieces is something that is really interesting. The set up is really unique and since it's even in the middle of the city makes it really awesome

I love the different events that take place in AlHosn palace in Winter. Lovely to visit it with the kids also. And the best thing is the children's library getting a free subscription ro barrow stories and books weekly. Highly recommended 👌🏻

I visited the museum during May. The reception staff were very friendly. They accept Fazaa or Esaad for discounted entry tickets. The galleries are well designed and tells a great store. Highly recommended. The mosque architecture is amazing. We had to walk for Al dhur prayer in the heat but it was worth it.

Iconic place with lovely water path designs. You learn a lot about the history and foundation of UAE and the Royal family. The place also combines the coffee house, an art mueseum, and a theatre. Few restaurants and coffee shops are also there. Free shaded parking as well. Highly cleaned washrooms, ablution area, and mosque. Overall, it is a very calm and unique atmosphere, which I highly recommend visiting.

I love this place! Locals love to sit here at night and it's fantastic during the day. I haven't been inside. I'm sure it will be interesting to have a look at the artisan work.

Visited last Saturday to see the Canon fire ceremony which happens only during Ramadan as a signal to break the long day fast and prayer. Place was not so crowded.. Security team wad present to look after the visitors and guide us.

Amazing to walk where first Sheikh lived. Sad that was not so crowded as another sights. Nearby building, where can you buy offline tickets, has coffee show and handcrafts museum.

Qasr al hosn is located within the Abu Dhabi city. This is nice place to visit one time to learn and understand the UAE history, life of our ancient peoples, old costume's, swards and many pictures with video and audio explanation. One main thing we liked in house of Artisan Baid Al Gahwa session with nice traditional coffee.

  • 5/5 Stuart P. 10 months ago on Google
Very interesting history of Abu Dhabi, going back few hundred years. Many people know about the Dubai rulers, but few about the capital of the country. Al hosn plays a significant part of the culture.

Amazing and stunning place to learn something about the history of Abu Dhabi and the Emirates. The difference between the modern buildings surrounding and this historic place leaves you speechless.

Fascinating journey to delve into the rich history and lifestyle of UAE leaders – an unparalleled opportunity for a meaningful exploration. Don’t forget to be a part of the Gahwa tasting ceremony which takes place every alternate hour.
