Certainly a great place to understand architecture, culture and tradition. A must visit to those who like history. Well set and maintained, all credit to the authorities for creating such a theme and place. Ample parking space.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is a historic district in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The construction of Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood dates back to the 1890s. In its prime, the locality was capable of 60 housing units, most of which were separated by narrow, winding lanes. Dubai's Old Town, souk and creek. Loved it! Where it all began, the history of Dubai. A lovely ambiance, clean, peaceful, and nice shops. This is a depiction of a historical neighborhood reconstructed with alleys, coffee museum and coin museum. Self guided tour is enough. While everyone flocks to the Burjh or to the palm, make sure you visit this beautiful place, spend some time which does not need any ticket or for you spend any money. You can just stroll around and capture some amazing pictures and soak in the very different architecture. If you are someone who lives exploring Cuisine, Cultures straight from its roots, then AL FAHIDI Historical Neighbourhood is your go to place to see the best of Old Dubai. Traditional building and lifestyle lived by people before ages and was good experience to learn and see the things. Old style shops and cafe were intresting and grabbed attention. The Camel in the City is one of the best concept found here and these camels are really beautiful and I loved. I will definitely go back, It was worth the visit, and I recommend this tour. It is recommended to visit this place around 6:30 so you could see it in a beautiful golden light and also witness how the place comes alive at night. The museum has a great collection of artifacts that tell the story of Dubai's history. I would definitely recommend visiting Al Fahidi historical neighborhood if you're interested in learning more about Dubai's history and culture. It's a great place to spend a few hours exploring

We had lunch at the Arabian Tea house which is a must. You can't book as they only do walk ins.cross the road and head towards the old buildings. It was nice to walk around and look at the shops. Definitely worth doing as something different and a change of scenery. There is also the museum of illusions to do too. There is a Starbucks as you walk further along.

If you can manage to tear yourself away from the glittering shopping malls and luxury resorts, visit this area to see what life was like before their cash machines started pumping oil. Evening stroll all along the creek is very pleasant or take the water taxi, wooden Abra or river cruise. As long as you're on this side of the creek, you're fine because it's the creek that divides new and old Dubai and the other side of the creek doesn't really have anything to offer to rich tourists who don't wanna get their expensive shoes dirty.

A nice and calm place to visit in Dubai. The entrance is free of charge but there can be some activities and events inside the premise which may be required buying tickets. Visitors can have a good idea about histoty of Dubai and its culture. The best time visit this place is after 3 o' clock. Usually it take around only one to two hours to visit all the historic items. There are many restaurants and souvenir shops inside and next to the premise but the prices of goods are little bit expensive.

A glimpse into Dubai's past and real character. Avoid visiting during tourist rush hours, it can be a nightmare to navigate and you will not enjoy it to the fullest. Very interesting architecture but it did not have much information other than a QR code at the start of the tour, so if someone misses it, then you don't get the info needed for such an interesting place.

This is a beautiful area of Dubai - one of the few areas preserved to look like how it was hundreds of years ago! There are various museums, restaurants, shops, and beautiful alleyways to wander down - you can take a great picture anywhere! Even if you’re only in Dubai for a day or two, I would say it’s worth coming here to see a different side of the city from what we are all accustomed to. If you visit Al Fahidi Historical area, be sure to go down by the river for a great view, and if you’re here in summer, be prepared it is HOT! So bring sunscreen and water because it’s all outside. Really unique place and I’ll definitely return!

A good place to experience old Dubai charm. You can walk through the alleys and witness the village houses, small flea shops selling decorative items and there is a big mosque. The place was quiet and barely crowded when I visited, which is great!

Historically this is the place where today's Dubai city where once imagined and dreamed of .... over the years this place have seen a few changes with modernization. In a recent project Dubai government decided to restore this important part of Dubai history to remains a witness on the Dubai success story.

The old neighborhood of Dubai. The style of buildings are the same, offering a feeling of traveling back in time channel. There are some interesting art stores and carpet stalls. The other part next to Dubai river has more restaurants and stores. It is good if you have more time to kill, but not a must for first time visitors.

A historical neighborhood which will make you experience the old traditions of Dubai. I came a bit late on a Saturday and almost everything was closed. Check the operations time before you come here. Check the “coffeee museum” and enjoy the experience. No entrance fees to the district

The neighborhood is nice, and as the name tells (Historical District) I came here to learn more about the history of Dubai. I know there isn't ancient history, but as little as Dubai has, I wanted to hear about it. But the only authentic piece of history I found was the Wall of Old Dubai. Probably I could have found more if The Dubai Museum was not closed. All in one I had the feeling of being sold (though there is no visit tax for the Historical District), everything is cheaply reproduced. If you are attentive you can notice in some parts that the whole thing is build with polystyrene. You feel like in a movie backlot. So if you just want to take a small walk between some nicely reproduced buildings and after that eat at a very fancy restaurant, you are all set. If you want to find some history... forget about Dubai! :)

In its prime, the locality was capable of 60 housing units, most of which were separated by narrow, winding lanes. this district is a key heritage site with much of the original infrastructure preserved and intact. The traditional wind towers – constructed from stone, teak, gypsum, palm wood and sandalwood – represent only a small part of Al Fahidi’s history. Each alley, twisting pathway and breezy tower tells a story of a life before the seven emirates.

Fascinating slice of old Dubai in the heart of the historic Quarter. Surrounded by modern architecture giving a contrast to the many cultures available in this fascinating destination when you get away from the 'beaten path' Perfectly located for a stroll, you can pretend you're lost in it's tiny alleys or sit on a comfortable bench resting from the beating sun under a shaded canopy. Explore the various museums and shops, stop off at the coffee museum or get a little shade from the heat in a cool art gallery. Everything is just minutes from the Creek, souks or shops.

Beautifully preserved buildings dating back to Dubai's pearl fishing days as a British Colony in the 1800s. A great shady and quiet place to visit in the heat of the day, and a break from the constant glitzy skyscrapers and malls. Completely free to enter and everything inside is reasonably priced. Many charming courtyards and alleyways to explore. We were very tempted by the lovely teahouse and restaurant, and there is a "cultural understanding" place where you can learn more about the history and try some local cuisine. Not many people were there and not much was open, except the coffee museum (we didn't go in). Short walk from the metro, and we took an abra (small wooden ferry) across the creek to the Gold Souk. Highly recommend!

Dubai's Old Town, souk and creek. Loved it! Where it all began, the history of Dubai. A lovely ambiance, clean, peaceful, and nice shops. Across the creek is the famous gold and spice souk, which is also worthwhile visiting, especially for spices. We had a knowledgeable guide who spoke about the historic and the ultra modern Dubai, which was very interesting. What I liked was the small group tour, which enables the guide to give a more personalized tour and more time to answer questions. On a short 5 minute ride on a traditional boat, you cross the creek to the other side where the gold and spice souks are. It's very busy and packed with shops selling anything from gold to spices, clothing, toys, and more. After the souk, we went back to a restaurant in the old town for a delicious Emiraty food tasting. A very unique place with a big tree in the middle and good food. I will definitely go back, It was worth the visit, and I recommend this tour.

Deemed to have been built around the 1950s, this place existed when Dubai was still a desert and this was the only quarter on the vast Arabian desert- before Sheikh Rashid’s grand dream of creating Dubai into a modern metropolis! The buildings were constructed using the coral rocks from the sea which one can still see from the picture attached of a section of the wall. Being a desert, the buildings needed cooling and ventilation and the tall structures helped filter the sand and bring in coolness to the buildings. Some of the customary structures are still preserved here such as the large doorways with a small opening for men, where they had to stoop to enter the house, thus preventing any eye contact with the female inhabitants. There is a coins museum within the complex which houses coins from Arabian civilisation dating back to 3000 years. We couldn’t see the place unfortunately as it closes at 2.30pm. It’s a small area affording easy walk through but replete with interesting trivia and old Arabian culture in Dubai. It’s good to book a walking tour in advance.

It's an amazing experience to visit the old parts of Dubai and see where the trading used to happen. The area called the souq tells a different story about the olden times of Dubai. You can still see olden types of architecture here. The items sold here are a bit modern and new but many items are still part of the olden trading traditions. Gold, rugs, bamboo and clay items, perfumes, incense, saffron. And you can easily bargain and get a good price. Definitely must visit and purchase good items of Dubai from here. Beware from those selling duplicate and fake items. Go to a good store, identify good stuff, talk to the shop keeper and strike a good deal and he will make you happy.

Although a reproduction of what an old town would have looked like and a touristy spot, very much worth seeing to get away from the glitzy, Dubai Mall and typical extravagant Dubai ambience and be in a calmer setting. No need to buy anything. There is free underground parking, we spent 5AED on a key chain and some food, otherwise free entertainment.

Must see this beecause it is lined with distinct Arabian architecture, the narrow lanes are highly evocative of a bygone, and much slower, age in Dubai's history. Inside the district, you'll find the Majlis Gallery, with its collection of traditional Arab ceramics and furniture and the Al Serkal Cultural Foundation, with a shop, cafe, and rotating art exhibitions.

A delightful area to visit. Full of charm and quiet. Unfortunately most studios, shops and even the Dubai Museum were closed. However the XVA Arts Hotel and cafe was open. A splendid old style building with a courtyard cafe serving vegetarian cuisine. Neither of us is vegetarian but found our meal delicious and more than sufficient to satisfy us. We want to return to try other dishes which are certainly not expensive. The shops that were open were interesting to browse.

Fortunately, we went with a tour guide because we were getting hassled at the guards gate initially. I don’t know what that was about. Our tour guide - Dubai Tour in BMW, found via AirBnB Experiences, was phenomenal at providing a snapshot of Dubai in 6 hours. What a cultural gem! It feels like you’ve stepped back in time. From the alleys, script, building structures, unique architecture, and more. And the information and little museums were visually intricate and engaging as it explains so much history of the Emiratis. I truly enjoyed the shade but also the exploration. This should definitely be on your list to visit when in Dubai if you are interested in history. There are some beautiful hotels in the area that are built with the architectural guidance of the historic area, however there aren’t many restaurants because Al Seef opened right at the beginning of the pandemic. No worries. There are metro lines and transportation modes that can get you to really good dining places. Across the canal, try Dampa. Really delicious seafood. Hoping as we move out of the pandemic, more restaurants will inhabit this area so it can be a lovely shopping district. I hope you found this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up. Thank you.

History & heritage of Dubai. The stamps , coins museum are there. A lot of art galleries in the area. The sikka festival is going on. Few coffee shops, food kiosks & vending machines with water & sodas. Narrow lanes with nice creative installations placed in the bylanes.

Fun place to get an old dubai charm with new world amenities. Great architecture and interesting places to see. Since most of it is open, wouldn't recommend going on a hot summer afternoon. Really good food places around.

Hey travel buddies if you love to explore historical places this is a PERFECT place to go. One of the best historical place here in Dubai wherein you can see the beauty of arts and history in every corner. Every spot is insta worth so don’t forget to wear your best OOTD’s and camera. Some museum are free of charge.

Классное место! Среди высотных и современных зданий Дубая, есть небольшой район, где представлены старые строения местных жителей, их дома, мечети. Сейчас это музеи и гелереи, со своей атмосферой. Очень впечатляет! Вмес рекомендую!

It's the place that's still carrying the history & culture of old Dubai. A walk around the place will aware about the rich culture of past. I visited the place in 2016. I enjoyed walking in the old city of Dubai. I must admire how it is preserved. I recommend visiting this old city at least once. It will enrich the knowledge about Dubai's culture, heritage & history.

It's a beautiful place and looks almost like a film set. In my opinion, not recommended during the day, in the August heat as it's not very busy and it's too hot to enjoy the shops and restaurants. Sadly lots of people come here for their Starbucks pics for Insta.

Hmm....this area is interesting, sort of. We park here when heading to Bur Dubai Souk (which is definitely worth the trip!). Al Fahidi presents picturesque stone streets, traditional buildings with wind tunnels, and a few tasty restaurants. There are some souk vendors in the area, but prices are for wealthy folks who miss the real stuff just down the road. There is a cool 1970s huge wooden racing boat on display that is fun to see: once. Try the Arabian Tea house. Extremely good.

I recently visited Al Seef Dubai and was captivated by its charming blend of nice old architecture and a mindful ambiance. The place offers great shopping opportunities, and what's impressive is that everything is negotiable – a hidden gem for finding good deals. Access is convenient, with a short 15-minute walk from Burjuman metro station, making it easily accessible. Additionally, at way back taking the ferry to Dubai Marina was a fantastic experience, adding to the overall charm of this picturesque destination. Highly recommend exploring Al Seef for a delightful and unique Dubai experience

a sprawling complex of buildings with high towers (barajeel) built with traditional materials separated by a maze of walkways; we spent hours exploring the various buildings and discovering the traditional stle of life in Dubai all those years ago; named the Historical Neighbourhood we feel Al Fahidi could also be called the Cultural Neighbourhood due to the numerous cultural and artistic activities it hosts. Marked for demolition in the 1980s a campaign to preserve the area was initiated and when Prince Charles suggested that Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood should be preserved the demolition was canceled.

Very interesting and peaceful place, especially now in quarantine days. A historical area, where you can plunge into the history of the United Arab Emirates. Made with taste as always! It is impressive how, after a metropolis in the Downtown of Dubai, you can visit such an eccentric area in the same City! Very unusual contrast. Highly recommended for Visit.I feel like I am living in the ancient ages of Dubai with historical buildings and old ships. It is definitely worth a visit.

Dubai old city. I've been twice there and wish to visit again when they re-open. As far as I know, one can participate in traditional breakfast or dinner there with a local host who can introduce you to the local culture. It is definitely an experience each tourist and even resident in Dubai must consider participating in. In this neighborhood there are cute places to have a rest and visit a nice traditional feel restaurant such as the Arabian Tea house which is serving in my opinion one of the best brunches in Dubai.

Nice place to experience the old life style. Its located inside the busy city, but very silent and have its own nice ambience. Can walk around and feel the calmness and feel peace of mind. The place was not that crowded when we visited and was good for a peaceful walk. Basement parking is available and can be accessed from the nearby roundabout. Atm and all major shops available inside they are also built in old style which is also nice to see. Whoever conceived and accomplished this idea deserves to be appreciated. Except for a security guy who spoiled the cool ambience unnecessarily at one time maybe for the surveillance camera to see, everything else was nice. A good experience overall.

There are a lot of monuments and memorials everywhere in Sharjah. Rolla Clock Tower is rather a moderate one. But behind the Rolla Clock Tower and Rolla Mall itself there opens an interesting area with small shops and a small bazar, too. Local people call it Indian Bazar. This is an area where there you never see tourists. An interesting area to get lost.

Lovely tourist experience wandering this labyrinth and pausing in courtyards. Like all of Dubai, there is beautiful light and surface design which made it fun to photograph. The narrow alleys keep you cool. You will find art and small shops. I bought a delicate perfume bottle for 15 dirham. I highly recommend the experience. In the evening we hired one of the little boats and admired the city lights reflecting in the water. It was very peaceful.

Ancient Arabic city, you can few the vibe and ambient when walking along the street. it's free to enter, and it will be more beautiful if visiting at night. Notice: be aware of those Pakistan souvenir shops over there, be aware of the price, cheating with ridiculous price and scamming can happen. You can take a water bus from the other side of the river (1-2 AED/stop) and also get back. Parking lot is available on the other side of the river, both free and valet parking.

Loved it (sans the haggling to buy things but I realize that’s how they do business here at least in the local/historical districts so no hard feelings)! I spent the better part of my morning here and walked around for hours and was sweating so much. I would’ve stayed longer otherwise and the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding is right across so lots to see, do and eat - just dress appropriately for the weather (there are no dress codes)! Best part is you can see the Dubai creek and feel the breeze depending on where you are! Great solo trip experience! I went really early in the morning so it wasn’t busy at all and some of the shops/restaurants were not even open.. I think it’ll be great to experience it at night.

  • 5/5 maya a. 1 year ago on Google
Gorgeous place for an afternoon wander, great atmosphere and it's hard to remember you are in a bustling and vibrant part of Dubai as you roam the tiny ancient looking alleyways. There are many places to just sit and think on comfortable beaches, small fascinating gardens, art work, museums to explore at every turn, and there are welcome shady spots to rest and contemplate which small street to explore next. Take pictures and scan the QR codes for more interesting history of the many buildings or just marvel at the history that might have taken place in biblical times in villages just like this all over the middle east. There are restaurants and tea rooms throughout the village and welcoming shop keepers will invite you in to explore their wares, from fridge magnets to hand crafted goods, calligraphy customised just for you to a fascinating coffee museum. We fell in love with this place and will definitely return next year. It's interesting in it's own right but also located conveniently for shopping and the lovely canals of Dubai Creek which are all walking distance from the Heritage Village.

It's a very nice experience to walk through this neighbor on its narrow streets, see the old house styles on the inside and on the outside. Some were open to visit, on others you could climb up the stairs up to their top and see part of the neighborhood from above. At a first glance on the map, I thought that half an hour should be enough, actually you could spend half a day here. Small bazaar shops, coffee shops, places to eat, many streets to explore. Go auto near the water and don't miss the camel ;)

A beautiful place of historical buildings. The buildings here are made from coral and gypsum, and they have been carefully restored to their original condition. Walking through the narrow alleys and winding streets, we can experience what life was like in Dubai over a hundred years ago... In addition to the beautiful buildings, Al Fahidi is home to several museums and art galleries. The Dubai Museum, located in the Al Fahidi Fort, is one of the most popular attractions in the neighborhood. Visitors can learn about the history and culture of Dubai, from its humble beginnings as a fishing village to the modern metropolis it is today... Overall, it is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, culture, and architecture. It offers a glimpse into the rich heritage of Dubai and the UAE...

The valet parking service provider is really rude and inattentive. I was asked to get in to wait to find a place in a spot where my car is squeezed until they let other cars out. I waited for a good amount of time until I was fed up of the waiting and had to call the guy again where he told me sorry parking is full and you need to leave!!! This is not the first time this happens. He was letting other people in while I was pulling out my car and that says something! The management needs to do something about the visitor experience because they are not good representatives.

If you don’t visit it you won’t have an idea of Dubai. Dubai is not only the luxurious part of it. There is also a human aspect and Deira and it’s historic neighborhoods are exactly that

  • 4/5 Alberto P. 11 months ago on Google
We arrive in the creek of Bastakya at dusk when the sun rests on the sea, and the wind towers reflect the last rays, in the ancient and unique historical quarter of Dubai overlooking the Creek that divides the city into two parts. A leap into the past far from the skyscrapers that challenge the sky in the rest of the city, here it is the mosques with their muezzin call and the ancient wind towers that challenge the sky, a system of natural architecture with zero environmental and polluting impact, thanks to a sapeinte system of conveying air inside these nice buildings, which still compete with the most advanced and expensive technologies. We sit down in a small restaurant overlooking the sea in the evening breeze to satisfy our hunger and fatigue of the day🌴🕌

One of the oldest neighborhoods in Dubai and is located in the Bur Dubai area. It is a popular tourist destination that offers visitors a glimpse into the city's rich history and culture. The neighborhood is known for its narrow alleyways, traditional wind-tower houses, and historic mosques. Visitors can take a walk through the streets and admire the beautiful architecture and intricate details of the buildings. The houses in the neighborhood have been restored and converted into museums, art galleries, and cafes.

It was a great way to learn about the history of Dubai and see some of the city's oldest buildings. The neighborhood is full of charming alleyways, traditional houses, and mosques. It's a great place to wander around and take in the sights and sounds of Dubai. I especially enjoyed visiting the Dubai Museum, which is located in Al Fahidi Fort. The museum has a great collection of artifacts that tell the story of Dubai's history. I would definitely recommend visiting Al Fahidi historical neighborhood if you're interested in learning more about Dubai's history and culture. It's a great place to spend a few hours exploring

The heritage quarter is located on the bank of the Dubai Creek, accessible either by boat or in my case, a less than 10-minutes walk from the nearby metro station. The buildings are in great condition after the restoration project. Stroll along its narrow path and maze to marvel at its architecture. Several buildings are open for a visit, either as a museum or gallery.

This is definitely worth a visit in Dubai if you want to get away from the luxury high life of the Marina. It is old and shows culture more. There are a few nice Arabian coffee houses, nice alleys to walk around in and get photos and also the boat ride which is 5 minutes to cross to the other side to see the Souk. Nice place for a stroll.
