After about 9 days in Oman we ended our vacation with a few days in Dubai. We didn't expect much from Dubai other than luxury and shopping, but Ricky certainly managed to show us Dubai from a completely different angle on the Old Dubai 101 tour. In a few hours we both learned a ton about the history of Dubai and UAE in general, explored Arabic architecture in Al Fahidi heritage side, experienced the local markets and goods (spices, perfume, food, gold etc) and sailed from one part of Dubai to another. It's an amazing way to start your vacation by getting a solid understanding of the country you've come to and also a great opportunity to get personalized suggestions on what to see during your stay (whether it be a week or a day more). Ricky was extremely knowledgeable, kind, easy to talk to and very helpful with suggestions. We also had a very good time with the rest of the people on the tour as well (we were seven people with different nationalities and it was a good group size for the tour). Whether you come to Dubai for the luxury, expensive hotels and extravagance or you wish dig down into the culture, history or architecture of the region, I can definitely recommend going on this tour.

We had the most remarkable tour of Old Dubai with Dubai by Foot. Not only everything was perfect, but we felt, in every instance, that our guides truly cared about us, both the kids and adults, and did their best to make this trip memorable. This definitely has become the most eye-opening experience something we will remember and cherish for many years to come. We definitely will be back!

I had walking tour in old Dubai with Orlina today! This was such a great tour! Orlina has great knowledge of the area, she answered all my questions, she knows a lot about the spices, food, explined all about the local typical clothes for men and women and provided so many information about Dubai and UAE. Also I finally was able to see the camel in Dubai, with the baby camel as well, it was sooo cute! Interesting walk around the old town with our guide today. We booked a private old Dubai tour and were glad to have done the tour. It was exactly what we were looking for, museums, culture, the souks and the Abra ride. My favorite was the Coffee Museum , very unique and we tasted traditional coffee as well. Thank you guys!

This food walk is a "must do" for anyone going to Dubai. Beyond the glitz Downtown, Pri walked us through the hidden alleys and older parts of Dubai including the spice souk. It was so refreshing, enlightening and filling...a wide variety of food to awaken your palates! The main course Machboos and Luqaimat was the highlight for me.

Orlina was such a great guide for the old Dubai Walking Tour! Great storyteller, which was helpful in understanding Dubai's history. We saw so much, and even got to go into an old home, where we were served local coffee and dates. We also took a boat across the river to the souk area which was fun! This your was a great way to kickoff my time in Dubai.

I took a group of 72 school children (6-7 year olds) on the tour of Old Town Dubai today and what a wonderful experience it was. With great links to our Moral, social and cultural curriculum, the children throughly enjoyed learning about the history of Dubai, looking inside the houses and visiting the camels. The tour guides were fantastic- all very knowledgable and accommodating to the children’s needs. Pri has also been wonderful at helping me organise the trip, providing me with key information and advice throughout the whole process. I really can’t thank the tour company enough and will definitely be rebooking next year.

Our tour leader, Francesca, was on time at the easy-to-find pickup point (a beautiful & expensive old Arabian cafe/restaurant. Get there early and enjoy a coffee - and the air-conditioning!). She was charming and fascinating in both her information and her response to our questions. She shared may insights from her personal experience of decades in Dubai raising children as an ex-pat. The tour wandered through old Dubai area and entered many historical buildings illustrating daily Arab life in the late 1800’s. Then we went to the souk (bazaar) which is almost exclusively Indian/Pakistani traders. A very old weatherbeaten abra (ferry) took us 300m across the “creek” and then we explored the jewelry market. There were no hidden costs or requests for tips (indeed, as we had no cash, Francesca gave us the coin to get back across the creek !). Highly recommended!!

Great tour with amazing museums in the Al Shindagha neighborhood. The beauty of this place was different in late evening and Ricky's exceptional storytelling made it even better and kept us glued for 2 hours!

We walked through Old Dubai yesterday evening with Dubai by Foot. The hospitality and storytelling was unmatched by any other trip/tour we had booked during our trip to Dubai. This is an absolute must if you are looking for a cultural experience from someone with a love for history.

We had such an awesome food tour of the souks with Pri. Super lucky to be just us and the tour guide which meant we got to ask loads of questions and Pri was so full of local knowledge and expertise that she could answer them all. We loved the spice souk and the explanation of which spices are used in local foods. The detail of the history of the region and the local insight was fantastic. Really well organised tour, very good value for money and pay attention when they say come hungry!!

This was definitely the highlight of my recent trip to Dubai. The skyscrapers and shiny new parts of Dubai were impressive to look at, but the culture and history of the place were so much more interesting. We stopped regularly to taste traditional Arabian coffee with dates, to admire the gold, to smell and learn about the spices.

We had a great walking/food tour led by Pri! We were really impressed with her knowledge of the city and history and had great conversations and great food. I had visited Dubai a couple of times but never felt as connected to the heart of the city as I did on this tour. Thanks!

Fantastic school trip! I would absolutely recommend this tour - we visited with a group of 6-7 year olds and were amazed by the quality of the tour, the informative and welcoming tour guides and the range of activities for the children. I have been living in Dubai for 12 years and only now got a chance to go on the Old Dubai tour with Orlina as my guide. Needless to say, I was absolutely blown away with the rich culture and heritage of UAE which I 'thought' I knew. My family of 5 recently had the pleasure of experiencing Dubai by Foot with Priyanka (Pri). She led us on a walking (and boat!) tour which included all the souks (textile, gold, spice, etc.); a history of old Dubai; and then an architecture walking tour around downtown. During our all-day tour, Pri gave us insight into Emirati culture, history, commerce, cuisine, politics - you name it! It felt like a "Master Class". Our boys are 13, 15, 16 and she was able to keep them engaged all day - which is not easy. As for my wife and I, we are now smitten with Dubai and can't wait to go back. My KG2 students thoroughly enjoyed this walking trip which tied in nicely with our unit of inquiry on "Where we are in place and time". It was very interesting and they were engaged the entire time. They learned about the burjeels, the old way of life and even saw a 100 year old tree. We highly recommend the walking tour!

I recently did a walking tour with ‘Dubai by Foot’ and it was an amazing experience! Our private tour guide took us through the by-lanes of old Dubai, where I would have never otherwise visited. It was so much fun, as it was a small group and we all could interact with each other. We got to learn so much about the history and culture of Dubai. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody visiting Dubai!

Took the art tour of the Al Serkal Avenue in an industrial area of the city. It was lovely to see the galleries with a guide who knew not only about the art, but the artists behind the work. In addition to the galleries we were treated to a small chocolate factory tour and a classic car showroom. Loved this tour!

A fantastic overall experience! The guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the tour was so interesting and gave us the opportunity to see parts of Old Dubai that we hadn't seen before and to learn a lot along the way! I would highly recommend it and will definitely be trying out more of the Free Tours by Foot.

After doing one of these tours I ended up doing the rest as well. They are laid-back but fun and informative. Dubai doesn't have as much history as a lot of other tourism destinations but these tours do a great job imparting information you won't hear elsewhere about this unique city. The guides are professional and personable. I'd highly recommend this company to get you acquainted with the city.

It was a lovely walk in the Alserkal Avenue with our guide, who not only showed us the galleries but also recommended us many things to do in Dubai. We ended the tour with a coffee in the chocolate factory.

The Food tour was well planned and well paced. And every food stop was great. Even if you believe that Middle Eastern food is not to your taste, this tour could change your mind. I highly recommend it!

This was my first walking tour and I was not disappointed. I really wanted to try out the Emirati cuisine and this was exactly the tour i needed. From the appetizers to the main course and then the wonderful luqaimat for the dessert, it was all very delicious. Our guide's knowledge on Dubai, its history and the Emirati cuisine was a cherry on the top.

A very personal tour- I would recommend the art tour to all art lovers. It shows the city in a new perspective and gives it an extra dimension. Our group was met personally at some of the galleries by the owners or persons in charge who explained their exhibitions in great detail. The tour ended with coffee at the lovely chocolate factory.

This was a different experience all together. I'm usually not a fan of shopping malls or skyscrapers, but I found this tour and the guide's historical perspective fascinating. The Souk al Bahar was the best part- a mix of the old and the new. Loved it!

I booked this walking tour of old Dubai on the last day of my visit. I wish I had done it on the first day. Pri is a fountain of knowledge! She is a thoughtful and caring guide with endless patience to answer all questions. The smaller groups are more conducive to a personalised experience with lots of attention to details.
