Needed a place that did take away to help me with delicious meal for my dad's birthday. Jose's did not disappoint got everything perfect. Nice and hot. By far the best prawns I've ever had.

Been wanting to explore this restaurant for a while now! Was worth the travel! Awesome atmosphere - great setting At first was tad bit rocky - ordered oysters had no green Tabasco *bearing in mind there is a pnp right next to restaurant * waiter said sorry they don't have we suggested they purchase they male manager said "No" we need to use what they have! Requested the bill wanting to leave back to our side of the world where restaurants actually want the business! Female manager happen to walk past, wanting to know if all was okay, shared our experience - pleasantly surprised herself walked to pnp got the green Tabasco! Extra star 🌟 for this great service indeed, thank you. Food was exactly 💯 as all the rumors I had heard. Oysters - absolutely delicious and fresh that beautiful ocean taste. Right size as well. Prawns - fresh and cooked to prefection. Mussels - maybe less fillers in your sauce sauce thick floury and maybe try some spring onion more cream - but said this again Mussels were fresh and very tasty! Veggies on the sides accompanied these dishes. Over all a good experience, friendly staff. Wanting to try the new Edenvale branch ...

The oysters at Jose's are always the freshest. Everything else they cook and I've tried is also very good, be it the chicken schnitzel or the prawns, or the calamari. Absolutely loving the place for the atmosphere, food and the friendly waiters. Parrots at the entrance are also super entertaining.

Best Prawns in the Country. So Grateful that Jose's is in our neighbourhood. Excellent Food, Great Service. The Staff are so friendly, the service is great. If you feel like seafood, this is the place to go to. Thank you Jose's.

We enjoyed the lunch in Jose s Taverna. Delicious and fresh oysters and nice white wine. We had the king plate with lobster and it was amazing. Real Portuguese style cooking. Waiters and managers friendly and professional. Also the kid’s menu and meat was good quality. In my opinion the music was a bit too loud, however the place is big and has outside area and two big inside areas, hence the costumer can choose the most convenient place.

What a disappointment! Old customers however haven't been in a while, took my wife out for her birthday with our grown up kids, 4 items what we wanted to order was not available!!! Food that was ordered only one dish was decent and nice, rest was absolutely tasteless. No no guys, step up. Close off your office area, don't want to sit and see all the files, boxes and actually a mess.

Top notch food, beautifully seasoned and generous portions. Each cooked meal came out fast and hot and seasoned to the max, the flavours are incredible. Beautiful big, plump and juicy oysters, they were incredible and beautifully fresh served with all the seasonings required to munch them down. This included a small bottle of tequila which anyone knows is a great oyster enhancer. It was an oceanic heaven. We had an incredible man assisting to serve us. Friendly and efficient and always within in range for us to see. The music playing gently in the background added to the relaxing environment. It was a lovely lunch outing and will return to try the rest of the items on the menu. The Billionaires Platter is definitely on my bucket list.

I had food here before. Crab was awesomeness. But at the door you get the most unfriendliest manager ever met in my life. It seems you are doing him a favour to come and dine. Will never put a foot close to his doorstep!!!

Good, established family restaurant with the most amazing service. My husband had the baby chicken and I the sirloin with mushroom sauce and cheese. Both the meals were delicious. Special mention to the braised cabbage and carrots as a side - the best I've ever had. I am going back for the prawns which looked amazing. Highly recommended.

This is beautifully appointed haven with Jose's personal touch bringing out the ambience of homely comfort. The service second to non furthermore Jose received us himself and after a fantastic meal he gifted us with a bottle of very good wine. The food was very well prepared and presented fresh seafood. The pricing is very reasonable and I definitely recommend one to visit this establishment

Simply exceptional. I cannot recommend this establishment more! Although the prices are slightly high the food cannot be better. The portions are generous and whether you are getting a steak or fish they cook their food to perfection. If you’re ever looking to spoil yourself and your loved ones definitely give Josè’s a try you will not regret it. 11/10

It's a pity I didn't take any pics, the food was delicious we had calamari for starters and prawns for main. Calamari was soft and flavorful so were the prawns definitely the best I've ever eaten. The sides were rice and chips, the rice was cooked perfectly and chips were fresh not the frozen ones almost every restaurant gives you. The service was excellent and atmosphere vibey we will definitely be back 😀

We really enjoyed our dinner. Great food and generous portions. When it came time too leave, we had trouble getting a ride back. The owner/host used his phone to call us a ride and then waited outside with us to make sure we got into the right car.

Spent R1000+ last night. Was really disappointed. 😔 Rice had a burn smell, could taste it too. I smelled it when I opened the first box and hoped it had something to do with packaging. Oxtail meat was very, very tough. Husband ended up having only rice and sauce with veg in the end. Prawns had a weird taste. Threw away. Money wasted as rice was burnt too Calamari (3 boxes ) two were fine. One box had calamari that was extremely tough. Chips were covered in lemon butter sauce and was extremely soggy to the point that it broke in pieces when I tried to dish up from the tinfoil. Please pack the chips and rice separate. We have complained about the quality of their takeout before. It’s like the takeout orders are not taken care of properly. Portions are way smaller for takeout vs sit down meals. A speciality (Kleftico) is almost always out of stock. A menu item that attracts a lot of patrons I’m sure. We’ve had some delicious meals with them but had very bad luck these past couple of times with takeout specifically. Thank you for fixing it the previous times after we complained. Just didn’t have the energy to call again last night. Don’t think we will be back in a hurry. Sorry Jose’s. You guys have some serious housekeeping to do.

Brilliant experience, lovely atmosphere for date night with my husband. The service was excellent and the staff is so friendly. As a seafood lover I can easily say this is the best seafood I've had in the east. The oysters were absolutely delicious, flavourful and just mouthwatering. My husband with his huge appetite couldn't finish the tomahawk steak because it was enormous! I plan on making this my presence a norm, I felt so welcome and so at home. I love this place and have already started recommending it to my friends and family. Definite 10 out of 10!

Went out for a midweek dinner with my partner. The manager really made us feel welcome and took good care of us. Our waiter was awesome and the food was amazing. 5 star experience at a very reasonable price.

I had a disappointing experience at Jose's tonight. The starter of Calamari was extremely bitter, and the service was lacking; despite being a 2-seater table, we didn't feel we received any real attention. The atmosphere was great, but I feel this was due to the other customers. Sorry, Jose, but I won't be returning anytime soon.

This place is amzing and always clean. Their food and service is terrific!! The Manager is friendly and helpful, he listens to the kids when They ask him something, he definitely deserves a medal. If I was a millionaire I would have eaten at Jose's every Morning, afternoon and evening. My family and I loves this place!!

Myself and hubby went to dine there on the 22nd of December. He was so excited to take me because he said they had the best prawns he'd ever had. Sad to say that this was no longer the case. The drinks were great and the halloumi starter was decent... That was where the pleasant evening ended. The seating was loose and I almost fell when getting up. Instead of Napkins, we were greeted with facial tissues on the table in a plastic covered box. As my main I ordered the grilled baby calamari which came tasting like it had been done on a dirty grill, it was chewy and there was no tartar sauce. When I asked for some, it came out tasting of purely onions and green peppers in mayo. Very unpleasant. Hubby ordered a kg of prawns due to his excitement of having the best prawns he'd ever had... However the prawns came out dry, floury, and with very little sauce. In the past they were drenched in sauce and cooked to perfection. He was not offered a finger bowl or wet wipes. During our main meal neither our waiter nor the manager checked on us. So we didn't even have the chance to voice our experience during the meal. When we left we discussed our disappointment regarding the meals with the manager. We were met with excuses, told that if hubby had wanted more sauce we would've had to pay extra and an all around unapologetic attitude regarding the quality of meals and service. When we mentioned the tissues we were told about budget cuts. Having 8 years experience in hospitality and FOH management myself, I found this a very poor representation of what a manager should be. Paying over R210 per main meal at the cheapest, I am extremely disappointed with my experience. It left a sour taste in both our mouths and we will not be going back because of it.
