(Τζαμί του Βασιλιά Αμπντουλάχ) The King Abdullah I Mosque in Amman, Jordan was built between 1982 and 1989. It is capped by a magnificent blue mosaic dome beneath which 3,000 Muslims may offer prayer. Tourists are allowed to visit. Men must have long trousers on and women must cover their heads, arms and legs. A hooded gown is provided free of charge for this purpose before you enter. You enter the Mosque barefoot.

Definitely a must see if you’re in Amman, Jordan. The mosque is beautiful. The inside is very big and there’s a nice peaceful atmosphere. Because of how lovely this mosque is there’s quite a lot of western non Muslim tourists visiting. I gave this review 3 stars only for a few reasons. -The ablution area is not well maintained -There’s no tissues or towels to dry your hands off. -The floor in the bathroom area seemed dusty A note to any of the mosque’s guardians reading this, please take care of the ablution area, it’ll be really appreciated.

It's located in the heart of Amman city. W place for religious worship. They allow women inside but need to cover up with a burkha. Lighting inside us beautiful. Outside structure is all lined up with mosaic work which is a treat to the eyes. The entrance is from a short lane full of souvenirs shops. But beware of the prices..it's a tourist trap. You will find the same souvenirs at half price in downtown.

Marvelous architecture with a beautiful dome. But beware of the souvenir shop. The staff Ms. Ala and Mr. Kareem have a racist attitude. They were pushing us to buy the dead sea products and when we denied politely, we saw them murmuring to each other and laughing. Went to the mosque happily after a long good day of tour and ended with a grim face.

Beautiful blue mosque. I met ist sheikh and could spend a little of time talking with him. Allowed for non muslims, but at specific times. You have to buy tickets in the shop under the mosque and, after the visiting, they will try to sell typical souvenirs. There is also an Islamic museum inside the complex. The mosque is far away of the old city, so you have to take a taxi. Be careful, negotiate the price before and take into consideration than the driver will try to go with you to the mosque and explain it to get more money.

The architecture is beautiful and simple, but like all other mosques, the mosque is not very large in area, nor has any extraordinary renovation work been done.

It was beautiful. The blue dome breathtaking. We were surprised by the excellent souvenir shop at the end of the visit. It was our first day in Jordan so we were not sure if the prices were good or not but after seeing more of the country we can say that their prices were very competitive and many times lower. So if you see something you like, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it there (even though you will see many, but not all, of the same items again on your journey though Jordan).

Lovely! We didn't visit it from the inside, but the exterior design and architecture were one of a kind. It is huge and I can only imagine how big the prayer hall is. As a curious fact to pay attention to is the presence of a church just across the street where the mosque is. Try walking to the mosque if you want to enjoy one of the many stairs graffiti or murals- they are everywhere in this area of Amman.

The big blue mosque as its called. Did not have a tour guide, but my driver insisted on taking me there. I cannot comment on the history. Just to say, it's a very large beautiful mosque in Amman.

What a peaceful mosque, with amazing architectural design, It is not only a mosque, but it is considered a large Islamic complex that contains a museum and a school for memorizing the Qur’an in addition to a lawsuit center for introducing Islam. The place allows visiting for all Muslims and non-Muslims.

Incredible encounter of a mosque - new learnings - the decoration is impressive, the floor is so clean and comfy. You just need to get in from the tourist gate #3 which is in a souvenir shop. You will have to take off your shoes to get in.

This is a remarkable architectural gem that showcases the country's rich cultural heritage. Its breathtaking design, serene ambiance, and educational opportunities make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the beauty of Islamic art and architecture. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly and respectfully when entering the mosque, and it is customary to remove your shoes before stepping onto the carpeted prayer hall.

This mosque is beautiful from the outside and spacious and neat on the inside. I spent the most time outside looking at the beautiful colors. Inside, not as strikingly beautiful as the inside. Foreigners must enter through the tourist gate. You enter through a gift shop and if you’re a woman, you’ll be given a full head and body cover (you’ll have a whole room of sizes to choose from). I went in through the wrong entrance at first and got yelled at. Foreigners pay 2 JD to get in. When you leave, the gift shop owners solicit you to buy things.

Located next to Amman center, it is one of the few mosques that western people can visit. It was my first experience in a mosque and I must say it was very spiritual, would definitely recommend as a mind-opening experience ;)

One of the most modern and beautiful mosques in the world! We (me + wife) were lucky to have the opportunity to offer Friday prayer in this mosque. The interior is stunningly wonderful; the Minber, Mehrab, carpets, chandeliers, and a team of educated Imams! There's a beautiful section for women; place for ablution, washrooms, etc. The design is very sophisticated. The mosque is in Abdali area, not far from city center. There are two churches around the mosque. The mosque is equipped with a library and small museum. The turquoise/blue domes are the identity of this mosque (also called Blue Mosque of Amman). Worth visiting; no problem for non-Muslim visitors either!

The King Abdullah Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, is one of the most important landmarks in Amman, the capital city of Jordan. It was completed in 1989 and is named after King Abdullah I of Jordan, who founded the modern state of Jordan. The mosque's design is based on traditional Islamic architecture, with a large central dome and four smaller minarets surrounding it. The exterior of the mosque is covered in blue and white ceramic tiles, which gives it its distinctive appearance and has earned it the nickname "Blue Mosque". The interior of the mosque is equally impressive, with a large prayer hall that can accommodate up to 7,000 worshippers. The prayer hall is decorated with intricate patterns and calligraphy, and the central dome is supported by four massive columns. One of the most impressive features of the mosque is its large chandelier, which weighs over 11 tons and is made of Austrian crystal. The chandelier is suspended from the center of the dome and provides a stunning centerpiece to the prayer hall. Visitors to the mosque are welcome, although non-Muslims are not allowed to enter during prayer times. Visitors should dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the mosque. Guided tours are available, and visitors can learn more about the mosque's history and significance to the people of Jordan. Overall, the King Abdullah Mosque is a stunning example of Islamic architecture and is an important symbol of Jordan's rich cultural heritage. Very beautiful mosque. If you want to Go pray there as female and are appropriately dressed you can enter via the regular gates. They have prayer dresses available in the women prayer hall which is separate from the Main Hall but also very beautiful. You can also enter via the visitor center / Gift Shop where they provide you with Cloaks . You will then have to exit again via the Gift Shop to Return the cloak. You will then be offered some tea and a tour of the Gift Shop where they try to sell you their items. They sell nice stuff there and proceeds Go to Charity. If you are not planning to buy anything and want to make a swift exit you can just politely decline the offer , the staff are very friendly and won’t Push you to buy anything .

The blue mosque is certainly worth seeing. Make sure you dress correctly otherwise you will have to wear a gown over your clothes. I’d say this place is worth visiting. It’s great to see how beautiful it is inside.

Quiet and calm. Be polite in refusing tea at the end of the visit. You will need to pay for coverings (2 JOD) if male legs are showing or if you do not have covered arms/legs/head if female, BUT you get an informative booklet on Islam and the history of the mosque.

👍👍 Such a beautiful place. It has a focal point in the centre where you stand and speak and you can hear ypur own voice echo. Also if you can do climb the stairs. Climbing up is easy but climbing down is difficult.
